I am ready for the criticism. The opinion are my own so please correct and
make any suggestions.
California Amplifier CAMP seems to be breaking out today. RS 99, EPS rank
77, funds about 10%, management about 10%.

What kind of price/volume structure do you see that would have you think
this is a breakout?
A cup-and-handle, flat base, saucer, double bottom?

Congratulations, Inderjit. A beautiful catch on CAMP.
In DELL there was a beautiful trader's shakeout at 3:00. Price went from
43.5 to 41.75 in less than an hour.
Volume+ indicates a drying up of volume through the close. The price
must hold at 42 for the shakeout to be relevant. There is little
resistance between 42 and 44. With no more than a bit of buying, price
can rise tomorrow to today's high.
There is resistance at 44 or so.
Notice how clear and profitable the 3/7/10 EMA gave its signals today.
A trader couldn't ask for more. I am carrying over a sizeable position
at 42.
In after hours' trading, DELL has sold some at 42.5.

Here are a few comments from a strict CANSLIM viewpoint, and then you make
the call.
1 - a quick look at the chart shows that CAMP may be reversing its
downtrend, but is certainly NOT breaking out from a CANSLIM perspective.
You should be looking for a new 52 week high, or an increase above the
handle. I don't see a handle on this one, and it's certainly not at or new
a new high.
2 - a quick look at IBD shows a 77 EPS (below the standard 80), and an SPR
rating of D (you want A or B). I would be concerned particularly about the
SPR.
3 - the price puts it below the general range WON recommends as far as
stock price. I think he recommends $15 or more (top of my head). I don't
follow this one strictly myself.
4 - A look at the earnings at reesegroup.com shows the company has lost
money the last two years, certainly not a CANSLIM characteristic. It also
has an ROE of 5% while WON recommends at leasat 17%. These two would kill
it for me.

Thanks Johan, Connie, Tom and Earl for the wonderful evaluation of this
security. I am already in and hope to see this trend to continue. I do
appreciate your guidance and if this fits the criteria WON will consider buying
and holding it.
I wish you a nice trading Friday.

Marc,
Thursday the 30th of September was also the last day of the month and of
the quarter. Some fund managers get paid bonuses based on monthly/quarterly
performance. So one can expect them to prop the stocks they own up on a day
like this.
So there *could* have been some end-of-month/quarter buying.
Just wanted to 'balance' the enthousiasm a bit. }B^)

setup customized filters on your own mail client to sort the incoming canslim

Seems like they are still shaking the DELL shareholders tree this morning,
Connie:
A ride between 41 en 39 13/16 in less than 30 minutes near the open today.
Another way to look at this, is: DELL broke short term support at 42.5 and
is now embracing the 200 SMA. The trendline break on 09/23 was a warning
shot in my humle opinion.
Please feel free to make notes about my English. I see it as an excellent
opportunity for me to learn the English language a little bit better.

Morning Johan--
Fear not about your English. It is much better than my German.
Think you're right about the 42.5 interpretation. However, day traders can
make money going long in a down trend.
A big house downgraded DELL this morning because of the damage to chip makers
in Taiwan. The result is that I am down several thousand. It is at this
point that I must decide what to do.
First, I put several hundred shares in my IRA non-trading account at 40. I
don't believe that the Taiwan problem is long term.
Second, I will break a rule that says never to double down on a loss. I
understand the reasoning behind the rule, but the rule is not absolute. I
have already bought 1/4 of my doubling down at 40. I will watch closely the
action of the 3/7/10, MACD, and the Volume+. I expect to make further buys
between 39.5 and 40.25.
If DELL should rise a point, I should be just a little bit either side of
break even. If DELL should break down still further, I will have to consider
doing some shorting or just taking a hit.
The context today is that context when it is too late to purchase experience.
Probably the most important thing that experience brings is the willingness to
make decisions. Just to sit and wait is a decision, but if sitting and
waiting is the result of indecision then you're snorting the white powder of
luck and a wishing for a Star in the East.
That I may take a hit is no reason to lose perspective. Every trader takes
several hits. If a hit, or the prospect of a hit, causes your stomach to
churn today and causes you to lose sleep tonight, then you need to do whatever
it is that settles the stomach and returns the sleep.
DELL is presently 40.25. I'll wait another 30 minutes if all goes well--that
is, well as can be expected--and consider buying another 1/4 of my double
down.
It is now time for the exercise of an absolute axiom: Money talks and BS
walks.
Thanks for the mail, Johan.

Well, the shakeout is beautiful......
Taiwan Problem should not be the reason, as MU is in the same boat as
DELL, but skyrocketing today.
