Hi All,
I'm not sure if these e-mails are useful of useless but here I go.
This article on web hosting has an interesting undertone. Inktomi's(INKT)
Traffic Server seems to be a very important piece of software????

>>Exodus Moves Into Content Distribution
By Brian Caulfield
Exodus Communications -- host to such Web heavy-hitters as Yahoo, eBay,
Lycos, and Hotmail -- is moving into the content distribution business. The
Santa Clara, Calif., firm Monday announced a service to help its customers
distribute content among its network of 13 data centers.
The Exodus ReadyCache Content Distribution Service, as Exodus is calling it,
would appear to put Exodus in competition with services from Digital Island
and two of its own customers, Akamai and Sandpiper, in the business of
moving Internet content to sites closer to end users, improving response
times.
The Exodus service, like those of Sandpiper and Digital Island, is based on
Inktomi's Traffic Server network cache platform (Akamai's is not). In
addition to Web pages, Akamai and Sandpiper both offer streaming media
delivery. Digital Island last week announced it would use the same
technology to hop into that business as well. Exodus does not yet offer a
streaming media distribution service, though it would seem to be a probable
next step.
Despite the similarities, Exodus contends Sandpiper and Akamai are not
direct competitors. For now at least, Exodus will sell its service to those
also buying its bandwidth and co-location services. Exodus has roughly 3,000
customers.
Scott Yara, vice president of marketing at Sandpiper, said he sees the
Exodus service as complementary to what his firm is doing. He said Sandpiper
ultimately is looking to strike up relationships with ISPs that have
deployed Inktomi's Traffic Server to deliver content into their networks.
"It's not our goal to build a competing or redundant caching infrastructure,
it's our goal to leverage the caches ISPs are deploying," he said.
Jim McInerney, executive vice president of engineering at Exodus, said his
firm's service would be more comparable to Digital Island's, which, like
Exodus, operates its own high-speed backbone between data centers.
The Exodus announcement comes after two minor power outages that affected a
portion of the customers at Exodus' New York data center. Both occurred
during announced maintenance windows with the first, on Tuesday night,
lasting less than 20 to 25 minutes, and the second, very early Wednesday
morning, lasting less than four minutes, according to Exodus chief financial
officer Richard Stoltz. The outages came during scheduled maintenance of
backup power systems at the facility, he said. <<<

Subject: [CANSLIM] Changing your canslim subscription
This is a monthly posting to the CANLSLIM group.
Frequently, people sign up for the canslim list and then are overwhelmed by
the volume of the email. There are two remedies for this problem: 1) You
can leave our group, or 2) you can switch to the digest version which
"conglomerates" many canslim messages into one large message.
To change your configuration, email a message to:
majordomo@xmission.com
The remove yourself from the canslim list, write in the body of the email:
unsubscribe canslim
To add yourself to the digest version of the canslim list, write in the
body of the email:
