Jack,
Looks to me like the stock is about to form a handle, then I'd look for a
breakout.
However, compare this chart to a chart of EMC and I think you'd find EMC to
be a stronger pattern.

Subject: [CANSLIM] The "new" in CANSLIM
Hi All,
This is a great article on new networking technology and why certain
stocks are going through the roof.
>>The Juniper Effect
Juniper Networks develops next generation routers for optical IP
networks.
Kind of a mouthful? Sounds kind of boring, right?
But this is the material for incredible rates of returns.
Despite its fall-off yesterday (the result of the announcement of a
secondary offering), Juniper is still hovering at a $9 billion market
capitalization. Not bad for a company that had its IPO on June 24, 1999.
I call this explosion in market capitalization the "Juniper Effect."
This, for example, happened to Cerent, a company that recently filed to
go public.
Last week, Cisco Systems (CSCO) purchased the optical-networking company
for $7 billion.
So, what's the next company to look for? Sycamore Networks, which
recently filed its IPO.
The company was founded in February 1998 and by July 1999, landed its
first -- and so far, only, customer: Williams Communications, a
wholesale carrier (that is, it provides communications services to other
carriers).
But right now, a customer base is not critical. Rather, the technology
must be right; that is, it must make existing optical networks faster,
reliable and scalable.
First, some background.
While much of the existing optical network in the US is built for voice
data, the fact is that there is a huge surge in "data traffic," such as
Net access, emails, videos, and e-commerce.
In fact, according to a study by RHK, bandwidth will need to soar 2000
percent from 1998 to 2002 to handle the huge amounts of data traffic.
Existing optical networks use a standard known as SONET. It is a
complicated system that converts data traffic from electrical signals to
optical signals, which are then transmitted across the fiber.
It works great with voice traffic, which tends to be slow and stable.
But as for data traffic, which is rapid and random, it falls short.
Sycamore Networks has a product, known as SN 6000, which offers a
solution. In fact, it moves data without using SONET equipment and,
instead, throws data directly into the optical network.
Also, since the technology is software-based, it is easier to customize
or add new product features.
Moreover, the management team is also highly seasoned. Gururaj
Deshpande, the Chairman, was the founder of Cascade Communications,
which was purchased by Ascend (Lucent eventually purchased Ascend).
Daniel Smith, the CEO, was the CEO of Cascade Communications.
The company also has Morgan Stanley as its underwriter.
However, the real concern may be that the company will not go public,
but, like Cerent, get purchased.<<<

Your sentence "I thought that our group's web page now has a link..."
intrigued me. Does this mail list group have its own web site?

One of the better ones available is Quicken Deluxe. It tracks by lot, allows
daily and intraday price downloads, calculates your return, exports to other
financial planner software including TurboTax, allows multiple portfolio
tracking, allows you do download your brokerage statement via the internet,
and is surprisingly easy to use. It also links to the Quicken website to
allow thorough research and analysis of stocks. There are way too many
features for me to describe here.
I have tried several competitive software packages, and always come back to
Quicken (I have used it since the mid-80's).
Good Luck

I love Quicken, and wholeheartedly recommend it for tracking, despite the
recent addition of ads in the portfolio screen (talk about annoying!). If
you don't want to buy it, the new Motley Fool portfolio tracker also tracks
long term performance against the major averages.

Computer 2000, our biggest IT distributor in Belgie, is have it's annual

Miss Belgian Beauty contestants, free Pizza Hut, etc. A few international
rock groups. Etc, etc.
So for me today is: Just say YES!

The url is http://www.xmission.com/~mcjathan/canslim/canslim.htm. It is mostly
an archive of all the messages from the group. There are also a few links to
sites of interest. One of these links (I thought) used to go to the "26 weeks"

Hi All,
Interesting article on CTXS and the coming ASP's or Application Service
Providers.
DSquires
>>>Thin Server Pioneer Eyes Huge Web Opportunity
By David F. Carr
For the past couple of years, Citrix Systems Inc. has thrived in a
parallel universe to the Web, providing a different incarnation of
network computing concepts that that has been hugely
successful within large enterprises.
But at its iForum users conference in Orlando this week, Citrix showed
how it will provide not just a transitional stepping stone to the Web
but also technologies that enhance the Web
experience and boost the viability of the emerging Application Service
Provider (ASP) market.
To some extent, Citrix's proprietary ICA (Independent Computing
Architecture) protocol has been competing with the Web's HTTP. Instead
of serving pages and applets, ICA serves
Windows user interfaces across the network. ICA users can run the most
demanding Windows applications without upgrading to the latest version
of the operating system or installing
more memory because traditional client-side functions are offloaded to a
server. In fact they, don't need to be running Windows at all since the
ICA client runs on the Macintosh, IBM
network computers, and specialized terminals.
Originally created for remote access, Citrix's technology became popular
with corporations as a more efficient way of managing the client portion
of client-server applications. Now the
new breed of Internet-based service bureaus is using ICA to remotely
host everything from the client portion of heavy-duty enterprise
applications to personal productivity software such
as Microsoft Office.
The success of Citrix's WinFrame, which turned Windows NT into a
multi-user server for thin clients, prompted Microsoft to introduce a
Windows Terminal Server edition of NT. But
Citrix continues to thrive with MetaFrame, which layers management and
performance features on top of the Microsoft product.
Citrix also demonstrated a series of products it has under development
that will expand the system to embrace Unix and Java applications, make
it easy to launch ICA applications from
within a Web portal, and even reach devices such as the PalmPilot.
Although no specific product plans were announced, Citrix said its ICA
Web application portal, code-named
"Charlotte," should be delivered as a software developer's kit by year's
end and will become part of a later version of MetaFrame. It's a
Web-based system for authenticating users and
presenting them with icons for the applications they are allowed to use,
and it can be integrated with other portals. ICA client functionality is
delivered to the browser via either ActiveX
or Java. Citrix even got Yahoo's permission to show what remotely hosted
Microsoft Office applications would like as part of a My Yahoo page.
Although Citrix hasn't won any
commitments from the Web service, "they were very intrigued," Citrix
product managemen! t director David Weiss said.
In addition to all its ICA-related work, Citrix recently acquired a
company called ViewSoft, maker of development tools that aim to enrich
the Web user interface through judicious use
of downloaded objects. A version that employs ActiveX components is in
beta, with JavaBeans to follow. Citrix also demonstrated an incarnation
of ViewSoft's technology designed to
reach the PalmPilot. The demonstration version leveraged Java 2 Micro
Edition, the latest Java technology for handheld devices, but was
actually shown running on a PC emulator for
the PalmOS<<<
