Quotes Plus (QP2) has several user-friendly features. On eof the main ones is an internal scanning feature whereby you can program screens based on the variables in the database. It does not do backtests, but will screen for almost any parameter or mathematical combination of parameters. In addition you can access the QP2 database through Excel using an .xla add-in. This gives you a diminished set of variables, but is still very useful. I think those better than I can actually program the .xla to access more data than originally provided for in QP2 but I may be wrong on that. But, it the data is a subscription service available at www.qp2.com <http://www.qp2.com/> . The folks there are friendly and there is a very helpful discussion group much like this one. Trouble is, I don't = have any definitive answers as to "why" it has fallen, aside from the = speculation of a two delayed response to the downgrade by one wirehouse = (A G Edwards??) and the article in IBD. I do note that A G Edwards = upgraded it a few days ago, but didn't seem to make any difference. Some = holders may have been scared off by the high trailing PE which was up in = the 60s. From a business sense, nothing has changed. Bankruptcy filings are still = hitting record numbers and that is likely to continue for some time. = They did another acquisition for cash, using some of the funds from the = last primary offering. There may be write offs in the next quarter = resulting from that. Investors perception of an economy possibly = bottoming out and ready to recover may make EPIQ less interesting to = them. I spent some time at the Yahoo board on EPIQ to see if I could find = anyone with a clue. I was quite surprised to find the number of people = there using (or at least trying to use) CANSLIM, or followers of IBD. = Seems quite a few had used an 8% retreat as a selling point. I posted a week or so ago that it had broken thru its pattern. That = downtrend has now continued, and it would not be a good buy for most at = this point. Friday it traded thru the 200 DMA altho did close above it = on volume. But it is well under the split adjusted base at 20 as well as = the 50 DMA line. The 200 has proven to be support in the past, but = usually could not successfully break out until the 50 DMA descended to = catch up. That will take some time. There may also be some remaining = holders with a loss that will want to sell before end of year for tax = purposes. Maybe even a few like me with huge profits that may want to = sell this year (I won't because it's in my IRA). Earnings forecast for this year was raised, looking for 12 cents in Q4. = Those results should be out in late Feb. Forecast for 2002 also raised, = so EPIQ remains a good long term investment for me, especially if I can = pick up more shares at a good price. Both forecasts remain over 30%.
