  170. terrorism, etc., and the cycle will go on and on. This is just my opinion on
  171. the dangers of individual holy book quotations, of course.

  173. Anyway, back to the topic of this group:  Do y'all who have watched
  174. market cycles for decades have an opinion about whether any rally with
  175. genuine follow throughs are less likely to succeed in uncertain times
  176. like these?  In other words, do M rules still work and apply in this type
  177. of political environment?

  214. supplier VSNX. All popped 50 to 100%. Haven't checked their fundies yet.

  324. Rules always apply, and right now the rule to pay attention to is that =
  325. "M" is really, really, ugly. Lots of reasons for that, including both an =
  326. already weak (but recovering, IMO) economy, and the assault on the WTC.
  327.  
  328. In a weak "M", certainly rallies are more prone to failure, and it takes =
  329. even less to cause that compared to a strong "M". We've been seeing that =
  330. for over a year now. But I would disagree that this is a "political =
  331. environment". Maybe politics will be a greater influence for a few days, =
  332. but the economy, earnings, and investors perceptions of the future is =
  333. what is and will drive this market.

  544. You say you would jump into LMT. I work for the company and I find it hard to 
  545. buy the stock because of my exposure to CANSLIM.  The stock has been 
  546. advancing for the same length of time that the general market has been 
  547. declining. I think the main reason for the advance is the hope that LMT will 
  548. get the Joint Strike Fighter contract.

  889. the shares that are shorted. I know I would not allow my shares of a company
  890. I expected to rise in price to be used against me. Yet brokerage houses loan
  891. out the shares of their clients without getting their clients permission to
  892. do so. It infuriates me and I refuse to short for this reason. It is like
  893. borrowing something from your neighbor to do him harm without his
  894. permission.

  1114. With all due respect, I suppose you are against banks making loans of
  1115. your deposits to those whose use might be detrimental to you. Sounds
  1116. great in theory but not in reality.  Happens all the time, everyday.

  1119. one part of the story, albeit a good part.
  1120.  
  1121. Remember, when you buy that canslim stock, someone just sold it to you.

  1141. Dan IMO shorting should be illegal without the permission of the owner
  1142. of the shares that are shorted. I know I would not allow my shares of a
  1143. company I expected to rise in price to be used against me. Yet brokerage
  1144. houses loan out the shares of their clients without getting their
  1145. clients permission to do so. It infuriates me and I refuse to short for
  1146. this reason. It is like borrowing something from your neighbor to do him
  1147. harm without his permission.
