^M^J^M^JCANSLIM Novice question: Overhead Supply???^M^J^M^J I have a question about "overhead supply"^M^J which I've noticed in many posts. How do you ^M^Jdete
rmine it, and how much is bad for stock^M^Jvalues? Is it in IBD stock tables or in DG?^M^J^M^JI'm sure it's covered in the book, but I'm curious if ^M^Jany
one would explain it. O'Neill's book has not arrived yet.^M^J^M^JFor example:^M^J^M^J"...is at a purchase price close to its recent high price with^M^J littl

Recent post highlighted UTEK as Canslim candidate ... current earnings look
good ... as last couple years ... 'C' & 'A' ... but ... firstcall is
forecasting 1% growth in EPS Dec 96 ... Dec 97 ... so lots of good
indicators ... but with limitation on growth ... may not be Canslim
qualified ... John

Don't know about the ''stop loss" question, but I've been using
Charles Schwab for a couple of years and execpt for some minor account
setup problems, I have had no problems. My daughter also uses them,
and hasn't had any problems either.

I spent about an hour in Barnes and Nobel trying to find some good
books. I was really disappointed in their selection. I thought that
it might just be my store, but from this post, maybe its the whole
system. I did complain to one of the employees, and she told me that
the head office in New York sent them the selections, that they local
stores don't order individually, but she said they could special order
anything I wanted. Maybe thats why Barnes and Nobel stock isn't doing
so hot. :)

: "Technical Analysis Explained" by Martin Pring and "Technical

Grin... B^)
>Luke, you are not the only one that has warned me about
>E*Trade's performance when "the going gets tough".
I experienced the same with Lombard. When the going gets tough, performance
goes down big time or is gone completly in my experience: i.e. 'no internet
based trading possible currently.'
Like the morning after Greenspan's 'irrational exuberance' speech. What's
left is the phone. BUT you can bet the phones are busy, b/c everyone and
their brother is trying to get on the phone with them at that moment. (I'll
not mention the irrational exuberant cost of phoning from Belgium to the US.
... Uhm, seems like I just did. ;^)
Overall I'm pretty satified with Lombard, but their server has been down
several times the last few weeks. Coincidence or not, but everytime when I
NEED to do some important trades. :^(
>I ALWAYS use stop-loss orders anyway.
I have never used them, but am considering it. I'm afraid I will get stopped
out on some stocks that are behaving quite volatile especially in this
volatile market.
I do however watch my stocks real-time during market hours, so I have the
stop-loss orders in my head...
Can MMs and specialists SEE my stop-loss? Can they 'pick-up' stop-loss
orders? I have read some do that, but I'd like to know how frequent this
happens.
>I like E*Trade because of the news and charts (via FastQuote) and the
>(Baseline) research info all in one place,
Lombard has no news at all. I use www.biz.yahoo.com for that.
They do have basic charting and nice intraday charting. I seldom use the
research they have, becuase it 'seems' quite outdated to me and it is
presented very ugly (I know... I should not care about that :^). Accessing
the info is also quite slow, because it is a secure server that is
delivering the info.
>I think with time, there will be many good web-brokers that will
>concentrate on what really matters: reliable info, news, charts

I think that when the going gets tough, small players like me can forget
about quick executions.
The MMs will be busy executing the orders of the institutions. The
institutions pay their bread, not small players like me.
So even if our orders get to our brokers fast enough, the MMs will be on the
phone with the instituitions and they will get the best executions and small
players like me will be last in line.
Maybe Tom can comment on this?
>Perhaps Lombard could be neck-to-neck with E*Trade, but I've heard
>people complain about that one too.
Ye, they do. :)
>As for non-web-brokers [... snip ...]
>All these full-service scalpers will (should) go down in the next
>few years anyway.
I won't be morning over them... I paid between $ 300 and 800 for 1 order in
the first few months of last year when I was still trading from Belgium! I
had to bring my trades to the agent on paper. They faxed it to the middle
man, who phoned a full service (HA!) broker in the States. After about 5
working days I knew if my trade got executed or not.
Believe me, when I found out about Internet trading I though I had found
heaven. ;^)
But as always you get used to it, and you start complaining as soon as
something goes wrong, like when the server is down 'again'.

Free RT quotes? Wow! I pay big buck to get RT quotes through Interquote (
http://www.interquote.com)
How are the RT quotes presented. Can you follow for example 20 stocks RT on
1 screen?

LSBX is a great stock pick IMHO. I bought it Friday. Is around 9 now and it
is worth 14
when you look at 12/97 eps estimates ($1 x industry P/E = 14)
Looking at the chart I think it is currently a good buy.
Disclaimer: I own this one, do your own research before buying in!
