  42.     ôWhere the Hell is Angel?ö  Spike snapped.
  43.     ôI donÆt know love.  Oh!  HeÆs magnificent.ö  Drucilla purred.
  44.     Standing in front of them, four vampires worked on stulpting a large statue
  45. of stone and clay.  
  46.     ôWill he be ready for tomorrow?ö  Dru asked, turning to look at Spike.
  47.     ôOf couse baby, of course,ö  Spike assured her.  ôæAnd the Slayer shall fall
  48. to this creature of stone.ö

  51.     ôI have a plan,ö  Buffy declared.
  52.     ôBuffy!  How are you?  Did you sleep well last night?ö  Willow asked her
  53. friend.
  54.     ôThereÆs no time to explain right now,ö  Buffy said as Angel walked into the
  55. library.  No one spoke.  Buffy broke the silence.  ôThe only ways that I can
  56. think of to defeat this stone guy without dying is to either stop Spike and
  57. Dru before they write æemetÆ on his hand, or...use this.ö  She handed Giles a
  58. book.  
  59.     ôThis just might work.ö  he mumbled.
  60.  
  61.     Willow pulled Buffy aside.
  62.     ô*What* is Angel doing here?  During the day?ö  she said quickly.  Taking a
  63. deep breath, she continued, her voice much softer and more gentle.  ôAre, Buff
  64. are you ok?ö
  65.     ôWill, IÆm fine.  Well, Angel and I are fine.  Willow, A-AngelÆs human.ö
  66. Willow froze.  She couldnÆt move.  She had mixed feelings about Angel.  She
  67. wanted him back for Buffy and because he was a good friend...but she didnÆt
  68. know if she could ever see him as Angel and not Angelus again.  Buffy saw the
  69. look on WillowÆs face.  She knew what Willow was thinking.
  70.     ôHe didnÆt do anything.ö she said softly to Willow.  ôIt wasnÆt him.ö  With
  71. that said, Buffy went back to the others.  There was an incredible amount of
  72. tension in the room, but for now, they would have to look past that.  They all
  73. shared a common goal, not getting Buffy killed.

  90. DIARIES 6 - Angels's Diary.

  93. Dear Diary
  94. Even though I havenÆt been human for about 800 years, tonight I truly felt
  95. human, I remembered what it was like to have friends who care, to have the
  96. ability to help others, but most importantly to love again.
  97. Last night was the best night of my extremely long kind of life.  I almost
  98. left and lost Buffy, I know it sounds terrible but IÆm glad Dru and SpikesÆ
  99. men are so efficient, they saved me, saved me from the pain and heartache of
  100. losing Buffy, the one girl I love more than anything in the world.
  101. I lead a strange life, I am a vampire, yet I am in love with the Slayer and
  102. I even help her slay vampires.
  103. Although I am happy, the one thing that would make my ôlifeö perfect would
  104. be to become human again.  Then I could be normal, I could go out in the
  105. day, eat normal foods and most importantly I wouldnÆt feel the touch of
  106. guilt that I feel now because I love the Slayer.
  107. Life is so confusing.  Much more different now than the past.  Then there
  108. wasnÆt the fear of getting mugged, shot or murdered.  People didnÆt get
  109. killed in cars, there were no cars.  People were expected to marry very
  110. young.  Women were regarded as second class citizens and certanily not as
  111. Slayers.  I canÆt believe all the changes that have happened, yet what is to
  112. come?  Is there any way of knowing?  What new deadly vampires will emerge?
  113. What will Dru and Spike be like?  What will Buffys friends be like?  What
  114. will I be like?  But most importantly, what will have happened to Buffy???
  115. I couldnÆt bare life without her, I love her.

  130. Summary:  Buffy returns to Sunnydale one year after Becoming, Part 2 and
  131. finds something unexpected.

  134.     She was home.  After a year of running, Buffy had finally come back
  135. home.  She hesitated before the school, her emotions swirling wildly out
  136. of control.  Buffy took a deep breath and inched forward.  A second
  137. later she had backed away from the steps which would bring her to the
  138. entrance of the school.
  139.  
  140.     "Come on, it's Giles!" Buffy reprimanded herself.  "There's nothing to
  141. be worried about."  Even as she spoke, the thought of Jenny's death and
  142. Giles' torture both at the hands of Angelus rose in her mind.  Giles had
  143. never blamed her for what had happened to Jenny nor had he ever
  144. expressed displeasure in her inability to kill Angelus.  But what would
  145. her Watcher think about her running away?
  146.  
  147.     She had abandoned her duty.  She had abandoned him.  Would Giles be
  148. able to forgive her for the pain and worry that he must have felt after
  149. she had left her life in Sunnydale?
  150.  
  151.     Buffy smoothed her hair nervously and moved forward again.  This time,
  152. she didn't back away.
  153.  
  154.     The doors swung open beneath Buffy's hands and she followed the
  155. familiar path towards the library.  The memories of the countless times
  156. she, Willow and Xander had walked together towards the library was
  157. overlaid by the still painful memory of her frantic run back after
  158. meeting with Angelus.
  159.  
  160.     The thought of the horror she had found waiting for her at the end of
  161. that journey suddenly made Buffy fear for what she would find waiting
  162. for her this time.  Unconsciously, her steps quickened.
  163.  
  164.     It seemed an eternity before Buffy reached the library.  Her hand
  165. reached out and rested against the door as she steadied herself.  The
  166. familiar sound of quarterstaffs connecting made Buffy step away from the
  167. door in surprise.  'Somebody's training?' Buffy thought incredulously.
  168.  
  169.     She cautiously moved back to the doors and inched one open.  The sight
  170. which met her eyes was a decidedly unexpected one.
  171.  
  172.     Giles and a girl were sparring.  
  173.  
  174.     It was enough to send a burst of jealousy racing through Buffy.  That
  175. girl was with *her* Watcher.  In *her* library.  Using *her* equipment!
  176.  
  177.     'She must be my replacement,' Buffy realized, an odd sense of
  178. disappointment seizing her.  Somehow, Buffy had always thought that
  179. Giles would have been searching for her, waiting for her to come back. 
  180. She hadn't thought that he'd find himself another Slayer.
  181.  
  182.     The dark haired girl brought her staff down, knocking Giles' away from
  183. him.  The force of her blow sent Giles reeling back and tumbling to the
  184. floor.  The girl smiled as Giles brought out a handkerchief and dabbed
  185. at his damp face.
  186.  
  187.     Buffy's teeth ground together.  Nobody went around knocking her Watcher
  188. down!
  189.  
  190.     The girl bent down and hoisted Giles to his feet.  He murmured a thanks
  191. before heading out of Buffy's line of sight.  Buffy nudged the door open
  192. wider, trying not to loose sight of him.
  193.  
  194.     Unfortunately, the motion had drew the other Slayer's attention.  Their
  195. eyes met, and the two girls remained motionless, staring at each other
  196. from across the room.
  197.  
  198.     Buffy was surprised by the look of hostility which had descended on the
  199. other Slayer's face.  'Keep away' the dark haired girl silently warned
  200. Buffy.
  201.  
  202.     Buffy bristled at the girl's silent warning, ready to tell her who was
  203. in charge.  And then, the realization struck her.  Giles wasn't her
  204. Watcher any more.  She had given up on her duty and position as Giles'
  205. Slayer when she had run away.  
  206.  
  207.     "You take care of him!" Buffy hissed softly before backing out of the
  208. library.  It was only when she was beyond sight of the library that
  209. Buffy let the tears stream down her face.
  210.

  213.     April stared at the library door in surprise as it drifted shut.  From
  214. everything Giles had told her about Buffy, she hadn't expected her to
  215. give up so easily.  'I guess she realized that she has no place here
  216. anymore,' April thought.
  217.  
  218.     'I can't believe that she told *me* to look after Giles!  She's the one
  219. who ditched him because she wasn't tough enough for the job!'  The
  220. thought that despite Buffy's weakness, she was still Giles' Slayer
  221. annoyed April.
  222.  
  223.     He still thought of his first Slayer.  He still searched for her.  He
  224. still waited for her.  What he didn't seem to recognize was that Buffy
  225. was gone and April was more that willing to take over.
  226.  
  227.     A momentary pang of uncertainty struck April.  'Should I tell Giles
  228. that Buffy was here?  He'd be thrilled to see her again... And he'd want
  229. her back instead of me...' 
  230.  
  231.     No.  Buffy had lost this when she ran away.  And April wasn't about to
  232. give it up.
  233.  
  234.     "April?" Giles said softly "I thought I heard something."
  235.  
  236.     "I didn't," April lied, keeping a cheerful smile on her face.  "Now,
  237. why don't we go research something?"
  238.  
  239.     Giles looked at the door sadly, "I felt something..."
  240.  
  241.     "Come on, Giles!" April exclaimed, grabbing her Watcher by the arm and
  242. pulling him away from the door.  "There's nothing out there."
  243.
