  31. TITLE: Cloaked In Darkness

  33. SUMMARY: Things are not exactly what they seem when Giles finds an 
  34. ancient diary, with news of the death of the Slayer.  A new girl comes 
  35. to Sunnydale and things start to go crazy, Angel is jealous because 
  36. Buffy has a boyfriend and The Master gets a nasty surprise...
  37. It is naturally a Buffy/Angel Romance story, cause I'm a hopeless 
  38. romantic!  Although it starts off a bit rocky, but I assure you they 
  39. will end up together in this one!
  40. RATING: PG. 
  41. TIME PERIOD: Hmm, well since we have only seen up till 'Prophesy Girl' 
  42. here in AustraliaBut I HAVE read the scripts for the rest of 
  43. them...Okay, say just after the 'Angel' episode and we'll leave it at 
  44. that!

  60.              Chapter 3: Encounter with a Vampire

  63. Gabriella looked around the place in interest.  She had meant to book 
  64. into a hotel and sleep, but the music had drawn her here.  Plus, the 
  65. fact that she was curious where the teenagers of this town hung out.  
  66. The æBronzeÆ was the perfect place to get away from it all and hang with 
  67. your friends.  She spotted the guys that had bumped past her earlier but 
  68. walked past them without a second glance, heading for the stairs.  It 
  69. was crowded that she could barely see anything and the second floor 
  70. looked like the perfect place to get a clear view.
  71.  
  72. Gabriella walked gracefully up the stairs, aware that she was being 
  73. watched by everyone she passed, but used to it.  She sat down at a table 
  74. that was miraculously clear and looked over the balcony to the dance 
  75. floor below.  It was filled with dancing couples and she sighed, resting 
  76. her cheek on her hand as her green eyes roved over the teenagers.
  77.  
  78. "Excuse me, thatÆs our seat" a polite voice said. Gabriella looked up in 
  79. surprise, to see a blonde girl in a black mini-skirt and red top, her 
  80. hair in a pony-tail.  Next to her was an equally blonde guy who could 
  81. have been her brother but obviously was not from the way he had his arm 
  82. around her waist.
  83.  
  84. "Oh, I am sorry, I did not realize"  Gabriella apologized and got up 
  85. quickly.  The blonde girl looked her over curiously, but Gabriella felt 
  86. no anger.  There was something about the blonde that was strange, 
  87. Gabriella could sense it.  In fact, she had been sensing it since she 
  88. entered the place but had been ignoring it.  
  89.  
  90. "Hey, thatÆs fine, you didnÆt know."  the guy said with a slightly 
  91. smitten smile.  Gabriella saw that the blonde girl had also seen the 
  92. smile and was not pleased by it.  Gabriella inclined her head, avoiding 
  93. the glare from the blondeÆs light green eyes and walked off slowly.
  94.  
  95. "You didnÆt have to be so rude Buffy, she only..."  the guyÆs voice 
  96. faded as Gabriella walked further away and stood to the side of the top 
  97. of the stairs, leaning on the balcony rail.  So the blonde was called 
  98. Buffy, an unusual name, but Gabriella had heard many strange names in 
  99. New York and she couldnÆt see how the rest of the world could be any 
  100. different.
  101.  
  102. Something hit her senses hard and she looked down directly into the dark 
  103. eyes of a guy sitting at one of the tables near the dance floor.  Their 
  104. eyes locked and herÆs were wide and startled, the pools of green 
  105. darkening slightly.  He was absolutely gorgeous, dark hair and eyes that 
  106. you could drown in.  Gabriella wrenched her eyes away, feeling as if an 
  107. eternity had gone by but it had really been but a few seconds.  She 
  108. reluctantly looked back only to see that his seat was now empty.
  109.  
  110. Tiredness suddenly hit her and she slumped slightly, the music felt too 
  111. loud and the laughing grated on her nerves.  Gabriella straightened and 
  112. started down the stairs quickly, feeling eyes on her again as she 
  113. reached the bottom and headed back out the door.  The night air hit her.  
  114. The breeze cooled her face and she walked down the alley and back onto 
  115. the street with a relieved sigh.
  116.  
  117. "Now, where is a hotel when you need it?"  she asked herself out loud.  
  118. Someone touched her arm, grabbing it tightly.  She was spun around to 
  119. meet the eyes of a guy in his early 20Æs.  He was handsome but there was 
  120. something about him she didnÆt trust.  Gabriella said nothing as she was 
  121. dragged away and into an alley further down the street.
  122.  
  123. "This was WAY too easy, arenÆt you even going to scream baby?"  the guy 
  124. purred and she saw his face change.  It was hideous and she gasped as 
  125. she saw his long sharp teeth in the moonlight.
  126.  
  127. "A Vampire?  This can not be!"  Gabriella yelled, almost to herself.  
  128. The creature grinned in satisfaction at her apparent shock, though he 
  129. was unsure about the other emotion he saw in her eyes.
  130.  
  131. "I love it when they scream, it makes it so much more satisfying.  And 
  132. youÆre so beautiful too, maybe I should bring you into the family."  the 
  133. creature growled and pulled her closer.  GabriellaÆs mind had been blank 
  134. with shock until then but she suddenly began to struggle violently at 
  135. his words.
  136.  
  137. "Let me go!"  she cried out, trying to keep his mouth away from her 
  138. throat.  She put a hand over his face and shoved it away with all her 
  139. strength but he just laughed.  She was becoming desperate but something 
  140. held her back, she was still stunned by what was happening and didnÆt 
  141. seem to be able to think coherently.
  142.  
  143. "But the partyÆs just begun!"  he roared with laughter and then 
  144. something wrenched him roughly away from Gabriella and she turned away, 
  145. closing her eyes and panting rapidly, trying to calm her heart.  She 
  146. didnÆt even want to see who had pulled the creature away and merely 
  147. listened as a struggle ensued and then a painful grunt and then nothing.  
  148. Another hand descended onto her arms and she tensed, whirling around, 
  149. her wide eyes clashed with those of the gorgeous guy from the nightclub 
  150. and she blinked in surprise.
  151.  
  152. "Ah, thank you"  she whispered, knowing that he had taken care of the 
  153. vampire.   The guy smiled and he looked even more gorgeous than before, 
  154. it lit up his eyes and she felt her heart beating madly.
  155.  
  156. "YouÆre welcome, he didnÆt hurt you did he?"  the guy was all concern as 
  157. he looked her over and then reached out to touch a spot on her arm, she 
  158. winced with pain and looked down to see the vampireÆs sharp claws had 
  159. ripped through her top just above the elbow.  It was bloody and she 
  160. could clearly see the long cuts beneath the material, she pulled her arm 
  161. up for a closer look and then noticed that the guy was turned away 
  162. slightly, his eyes averted.
  163.  
  164. "Are YOU all right"  she asked his softly, stepping closer and he jerked 
  165. his head up to meet her eyes, startled at the question.
  166.  
  167. "Yes, IÆm fine"  his eyes went again to her bloody arm and then he moved 
  168. towards the end of the alley, scanning it before motioning her forward.  
  169. He walked with her down the street, standing next to her protectively 
  170. and she smiled to herself.
  171.  
  172. "We need to get something to bind those cuts, where is your hotel?Æ  the 
  173. guy asked and she stopped abruptly in the middle of the sidewalk, hands 
  174. on her hips.
  175.  
  176. "How do you know I have a hotel?" she demanded, he stopped too and faced 
  177. her, dark shadows angling off of his face sharply.
  178.  
  179. "IÆve lived here a while and IÆve seen a lot of people, youÆre new"  the 
  180. guy said and Gabriella stared at him for a moment before continuing to 
  181. walk.  
  182.  
  183. "You are right, I AM new to Sunnydale...but I donÆt have a hotel yet"  
  184. she admitted and felt his sidelong glance, he seemed to hesitate saying 
  185. something and her eyes flicked curiously in his direction.
  186.  
  187. "What is it?"  she asked softly and he appeared startled and troubled at 
  188. the same time that she had sensed he wanted to say something.
  189.  
  190. "You Ah, donÆt seem to be freaked out about that vampire very much"  he 
  191. told her and she looked away, biting her bottom lip slightly.
  192.  
  193. "Maybe it is shock, I really did not expect to be attacked by a vampire"  
  194. there was something in her voice that made him stare intently at her, 
  195. but her face remained averted.
  196.  
  197. Angel drank in her features and thought how beautiful she was, her long 
  198. dark hair swayed around her like a cloak and he knew if he offered his 
  199. jacket to keep her warm, she would refuse.  Her eyes were a stunning 
  200. dark green and even in the æBronzeÆ he had felt as if he were drowning 
  201. in them, she was stunningly beautiful and he suddenly wondered if she 
  202. had come alone.
  203.  
  204. "Did you come to Sunnydale by yourself?"  Angel had to ask, but casually 
  205. and her eyes were wary as she looked up at him.
  206.  
  207. "Yes, I did.  My name is Gabriella by the way"  she told him softly and 
  208. he murmured the name under his breath, even her name was beautiful.
  209.  
  210. "IÆm Angel"  he said with no hesitation, he rarely liked to tell anyone 
  211. his name and wondered that he had told Gabriella so readily.  She opened 
  212. her mouth to reply when two figures barreled past them, Gabriella saw 
  213. that they were teens about 17 or 18 and they were running like a demon 
  214. was after them.  She looked around and realized Angel and she had walked 
  215. to a park, as she watched the two youths run into the treeÆs.  
  216.  
  217. A split-second later something came speeding after them and Gabriella 
  218. had very little time to see it was the girl from the æBronzeÆ.
  219.  
  220. "Buffy!"  Angel yelled and Gabriella blinked as he sped after her 
  221. without hesitation, he called something over his shoulder and Gabriella 
  222. nodded to herself.

  224. "Stay here.  Right"

  235. Welcome!  This list is for fiction related to "Buffy The Vampire 
  236. Slayer," both the TV series and the movie.  To ensure that we all get 
  237. to enjoy as much fiction as possible, please adhere to the following 
  238. guidelines, and please save them for future reference.
  239.  
  240. 1. Fiction should have Buffy characters in it and clearly be related 
  241. to Buffy.  Crossovers are great, and expected, but general 
  242. vampire/monster stories that aren't in the Buffy universe and don't 
  243. use Buffy characters belong somewhere else.
  244.  
  245. 2. Discussion of posted fiction is permitted onlist.  Please put 
  246. "DISCUSS" in your subject line.  Requests for missing story parts 
  247. should go directly to the author, and not be posted to the list.
  248.  
  249. Discussion that is not related directly to the fiction should go over 
  250. to the general Buffy list.  Discussion of fiction is expected to 
  251. follow common netiquette guidelines and use PG-13 language.
  252.  
  253. 3. No advertising of <any> items or services, Buffy related or not, 
  254. and no posting of non-story items such as .gifs, sound files, etc..  
  255. No attached files of <any> kind-- if your mailer makes your fiction

  370. This story is something that happens after Killed By Death. Probally 
  371. a Third season type story. This story has some pretty graphic descriptions 
  372. (what? I like descriptive work).  Just some Buffy like language 
  373. and violence. This story will go on for a while, or until I come up with a way
  374. to end it. The characters, Buffy, Xander, Willow, etc. belong to Joss 
  375. Whedon, The WB, Sandollar, etc.

  377.     The night air was ice cold but she didn't seem to mind it.  
  378. Sliding back down between the sheets, she took a deep breath as the 
  379. wind blew through the open window.  Angel rolled over, his arm 
  380. wrapping around her body and Buffy smiled.  She curled up against 
  381. him and fell asleep.
  382.     A large door opened to the loft and two vampires entered 
  383. carrying large boxes. Xander turned on the light and squinted at it's 
  384. brightness. 
  385.     "Honey, we're home. As if anyone cares." 
  386.       Willow smiled at his faint joke. 
  387.     "Here, let me take that," Xander said.  He as he took the box from 
  388. Willow's arms.
  389.     "Better put these away before..." His voice trailed off as Angel appeared 
  390. in the doorway of the kitchen with Buffy wrapped tightly in his embrace.
  391.     "Back so soon?" Angel smiled, knowing Xander was getting tired 
  392. of him.  Angel grabbed a package from his hands.  "Don't mind if I do," 
  393. he said as he sunk his teeth into the packaging. "This is fresh stuff. 
  394. Did you get this from Willy?"  Buffy turned around and kissed him, 
  395. hoping for leftovers.  
  396.     The doorbell rang and Buffy rushed across the room to answer 
  397. it.  She opened the door, surprised to see a bleach-blonde vampire 
  398. standing in front of her.
  399.     "Hello, Buffy."
  400.     "Hey, Spike. To what do we owe this visit?"  Xander and Angel 
  401. both took notice the second she mentioned his name.  Both 
  402. walked over to the door and stood behind her.
  403.     "Mind if I come in?" Spike pushed his way through them and 
  404. stood in the middle of the large living room. 
  405.     "Hello, Spike." Willow said as she watched him enter the room. 
  406.     "Willow." Spike walked around the room, checking out the house.
  407.     "So, Spike. Did you just come here to admire our decorating or 
  408. did you have a reason?" Xander asked. 
  409.     "It's Dru." He stopped to turn his back to all of them. "She's 
  410. dead."
  411.     "Dead? How?" Buffy asked sounding upset.
  412.     "This new damned slayer!  She heard about what we've been up to, 
  413. and she's here to kill us. All of us.
  414.     "No problem, it's not like we haven't faced a few slayers in our days," 
  415. Xander said proudly.
  416.     "It's not that easy. Sure you've killed a few slayers, so have I, but this 
  417. one...she's different.  She's stronger and smarter than any other slayer. 
  418. Buffy, she's better than you and Kendra combined."
  419.

  461. asked, trying to break the silence in the room.
  462.     "It's not going to stop her. She killed Dru!" Spike screamed.
  463. He slumped down on the couch and buried his face in his hands.
  464.     "I'm sorry about Dru, Spike," Buffy said sitting down next to 
  465. him.
  466.     "No you're not. You always hated her."
  467.     "Now wait just a second. Despite all that she did to me, I let 
  468. her live. I know you're upset, but don't take it out on me."
  469.     Spike dropped his head apologetically.  "Sorry. It's just that, we 
  470. had everything together and then that scum *Angelus* came along. 
  471. When you took him away from her, we were able to be together."
  472.     "Glad you think so highly of me," Angel said with a glare.
  473.     "I'm just telling the truth."
  474.     "Spike, don't forget who restored your souls, I may be good, 
  475. but I'm still a demon."
  476.     "Hey, cool it, you two!" Buffy said trying to break up the 
  477. potential fight between them. Even though they were both on the same 
  478. side, the never could resist the chance to attack each other.  "We've 
  479. got bigger problems right now than your egos." 
  480.       Spike and Angel both glared at Buffy. "So, what can you tell us about 
  481. this Slayer?" Angel said, finally giving in to Buffy. 
  482.     "Well, one thing's for sure, she's definitely a freak of nature. 
  483. This girl's got powers. Not just slayer powers, but..."
  484.     "Hello?" Xander asked as he watched Spike fade of into thought. 
  485. Everyone in the room suddenly stood up.  It was too late for Spike to 
  486. explain, the slayer had already found them.  They all put on their party 
  487. faces and waited for the slayer to enter.  Minutes passed, but nothing. 
  488.     "I could have sworn I felt the slayer's presence. I still do." Buffy said 
  489. as she listened for the slayer to make a sound.
  490.     "I know...what's she waiting for?" Spike said quietly.
  491.     "Uh, guys..." Willow's eyes widened as she looked out the window. 
  492.     "Damn!" Buffy broke away from the room and ran to the bedroom. No 
  493. one could take their eyes of the scene that stood outside that window. 
  494.     "We're surrounded!" Buffy said as she ran back into the living room. 
  495. There were nearly a hundred people gathered outside. All with torches in 
  496. their hands, crosses around their necks and plenty of holy water.  A girl 
  497. stepped forward from the crowd.  
  498.     "Let's see you get out of this one!" The girl walked towards the stairs 
  499. that led to their house. 
  500.     "We've gotta get out of here," Angel said as he searched the room for 
  501. an exit.
  502.     "Really, ya think?" Xander said sarcastically as he glared at Angel.

  532. This story is something that happens after Killed By Death. Probally 
  533. a Third season type story. This story has some pretty graphic descriptions 
  534. (what? I like descriptive work). There is a PG rating on this story 
  535. Just some Buffy like language and violence, and a few sexual indications. 
  536. This story will go on for a while, or until I come up with a way 
  537. to end it. The characters, Buffy, Xander, Willow, etc. belong to Joss 
  538. Whedon, The WB, Sandollar, etc.

  541.       Spike jumped at Careen and knocked the stake out of her 
  542. hand. In a matter of seconds he had her tight in his grip, her head 
  543. pulled back by her head so her neck was exposed.
  544.     "Spike, don't," Buffy yelled out when she saw the look in his 
  545. eyes.
  546.     "You're right, I can't feed on her. I'm on the good team now." 
  547. With quick twist of his hands, the slayer fell lifelessly to the 
  548. ground.  Everyone looked stared him with shocked expressions.
  549.     "What? She wasn't doing us any good alive." Everyone 
  550. continued glaring at him.
  551.     "Okay, so what Spike did wasn't exactly intellegent, it was still 
  552. the only option." Buffy returned to her feet and walked to Angel.  
  553. "Were we just supposed to let her kill us all?"  Xander and Willow nodded 
  554. like they accepted what he did as the only choice but Angel frowned as 
  555. still didn't approve. 
  556.     "Thank you, Buffy. At least someone agrees with me," Spike said.
  557.     "No problem, and thanks for saving my life." 
  558.     "My pleasure, after all you've done for me."
  559.     "Uh, guys, I hate to interupt this Kodak moment, but we still 
  560. have to get out of here," Xander said. He watched the group outside.
  561.     "Xander's right," Buffy said, looking to Angel for help.
  562.     "But where are we gonna go?  The sun's coming up soon," Spike 
  563. protested as he too looked out the window at the angry crowd.

  567.     "She's dead," a older vampire said as he bounded into the large 
  568. room.
  569.     "Great! I told you this wouldn't work. You can't just ambush 
  570. a bunch of deadly vampires," a young girl said, fuming with anger.
  571.     "Relax.  Everything is going just as planned."
  572.     "So what, Careen was just bait to for them to kill?"
  573.     "You know, you're much brighter than you look."
  574.     "Watch it, egghead. I can kill you at anytime!"
  575.     "Of course you can.  But I can also kill you.  And if I'm not here 
  576. to help you, *they* will kill you."
  577.     "Don't be so sure. I killed that Drusilla, didn't I? I could kill 
  578. them all if I wanted to."
  579.     "You're the most powerful slayer that ever existed, but that 
  580. doesn't mean that you will kill them all. You need my help, and training. 
  581. Accept it or deny it, either way is fine by me." 
  582.     "I accept."
  583.     "Good."
