  164.               The next day Buffy was feeling a little tired when she walked
  165. into the library. Giles and the rest of the gang were already there.
  166.  
  167. "How come you left the Bronze so early Buffy?" Xander asked, "We missed ya." 
  168.  
  169. "I wasn't feeling well so I decided to go home and rest. It's been really
  170. quiet and Angelus must be up to something." Buffy answered, hoping that nobody
  171. would push the subject any further.
  172.  
  173. "Are you sure you're up for it Buffy? You seem a bit...tired." Giles replied.
  174. "I'm fine. Don't worry about me. I can deal." Buffy said, sounding a little
  175. tense.
  176.  
  177. Not wanting to push the issue, Giles returned to his books. "Knowing something
  178. was wrong with Buffy, but figuring she would discuss it with her friends, he
  179. decided not to push the subject."
  180.  
  181. "Well I gotta to go to class," Willow said trying to break the silence. 
  182. "Will, don't you have a freebie right now?" Xander asked curiously.
  183. "Yeah but they still haven't found a replacement for Miss..." Willow stopped
  184. and looked over at Giles. A sadness swept through him. Even though he tried to
  185. cover it up everyone knew that he still missed Jenny. Suspecting that Giles
  186. probably wanted to be alone Buffy suggested that they accompany Willow to the
  187. computer lab.
  188.  
  189. "I feel so sorry for Giles. He needs to do something to distract himself from
  190. her." Cordelia replied.
  191. "Hey, that's a good idea but what? But Giles is like book geek. That is
  192. definitely not my area of expertise. That's more Willow." Buffy said. "No
  193. offense Will."
  194. "None taken." Willow said, "but Giles is more of a book geek then me."
  195.  
  196. "Well we'll just figure something out later. Right now Cordy and I have
  197. to........uh......we have to go to class." Xander said quickly.
  198. "Uh huh" Buffy and Willow replied at the exact same time.
  199. "Well see ya later" Cordy said as they ran off.
  200.  
  201. "Hey Will, are you sure you're okay about Xander and Cordelia? I mean after
  202. everything that happened last Valentines Day?" Buffy asked to her friend.
  203. "Well I know that it's going to take some time you know. I really loved Xander
  204. and I know that he only thinks of me as a friend and I guess that's ok and any
  205. ways, I have Oz." Willow said, convincing herself that that was the way she
  206. wanted it.
  207. "Well okay Will. See you after class." Buffy said as Willow walked into the
  208. classroom.
  209.  
  210.       Willow walked into the classroom. She was a bit early and only the
  211. janitor was in there. "Umm miss." the janitor asked.
  212. "Yes?" answered Willow.
  213. "Well I found this yellow disk between the desk and the trash can. It was
  214. probably Miss Calender's. Do you want to keep it or do you want me to throw it
  215. away?"
  216. "Well," Willow said thinking it over, "It might be something important. I
  217. think I'll just keep it."
  218. "Ok." the janitor said handing the disk to Willow. The bell rang.
  219. Oh well Willow thought, as she tossed the disk onto her temporary desk. I'll
  220. just look at it later.

  345. A long line of people was the first thing Willow noticed when she and Oz
  346. pulled up at the Stage entrance door for the Bronze.  Willow had noted on
  347. numerous occasions that The Bronze was so popular primarily because there
  348. wasn't anywhere else to go in Sunnydale.  The nightclub itself was not
  349. flash my any means.  A fairly sparse interior that mainly did the job in
  350. providing some nighttime entertainment.  It did however seem to have no
  351. problems letting under-age club goers in so Willow and her friends had
  352. pretty much adopted in as their hangout.
  353.  
  354. "At least being in the Band gets you some privileges," Oz remarked looking
  355. at the cue at the front door.
  356.  
  357. "So does being a girlfriend," replied Willow with a smile.
  358.  
  359. "If only we were successful enough for us to have our own roadies."
  360.  
  361. " Well you will be, then I will be able to say, I used to do that," Willow
  362. said as she opened the door.  She went around to the back of the van.  Oz
  363. came around the other side and opened the doors.  There were two guitars
  364. and a couple of amps in the back.
  365.  
  366. "It's times like this I am glad you don't play the drums," Willow said as
  367. she picked up one of the guitars.
  368.  
  369. 'So are my neighbors"
  370.  
  371. ......................

  373. Giles was putting on a tie when his doorbell rang.
  374.  
  375. "Be there in a minute," he said loud enough to travel the distance to the
  376. patio.
  377.  
  378. Outside Buffy waited.  Giles had suggested picking her up at her place, but
  379. she decided that having her mother, who had returned that day, see her
  380. getting into a teachers car at night may not be the wisest move in avoiding
  381. unnecessary questions.  The door opened.
  382.  
  383. "Hi Giles, nice gear" Buffy greeted him, giving his outfit the once over.
  384.  
  385. Giles looked down and quickly glanced at his usual trousers, tie and
  386. jacket. "Ah teenage fashion sarcasm" he thought.  "Hmmm" was his only
  387. audible reply.
  388.  
  389. "So are you ready?" She asked.
  390.  
  391. "Yes, let's get a move on then."
  392.  
  393. .....................................
  394.  
  395. Willow and Oz had finished setting up the band equipment and had taken
  396. custody of a table with enough seats around it for their friends that would
  397. be turning up soon.
  398.  
  399. "You know I'm all for turning up in the sunlight, but it's really a
  400. non-hip, not to mention an incredibly boring time to be here" Oz said.
  401.  
  402. " Better bored that gored," Willow replied, then seeing Buffy and Giles
  403. walking through the entranceway, "Buffy, Giles over here," she said with a
  404. wave.
  405.  
  406. Buffy acknowledged her call and nudged Giles in the right direction.  They
  407. both took seats at the table.
  408.  
  409. "You know Buffy, it's a wonder that people don't think it's weird all of
  410. you hanging around with a librarian after school" Giles asked.
  411.  
  412. " Well I think it's a combination of, Willow, Xander and me are thought of
  413. as strange anyway, Oz is in the band and Cordelia goes out with Xander,
  414. which incidentally has people looking at her in a whole new light. And the
  415. fact they probably think I am trying to suck up to a teacher.  Mind you I
  416. think it has worked in reverse for you.  Principal Snyder seems to think we
  417. are putting to much bad teenage influence on you."
  418.  
  419. "Yes quite, I am going to have a scout around and check to see if there are
  420. any other places vampires could hide, just in case they decide to get in
  421. another way," Giles said moving off.
  422.  
  423. "Ah speaking of checking on things, I should see if the other band members
  424. have arrived yet.  Last time one didn't turn up.  Wasn't till I saw him a
  425. coupe of days later with a extra large forehead I realized what had
  426. happened," Oz said.  He kissed Willow on the cheek.  
  427.  
  428. Willow turned to Buffy and smiled. 
  429.  
  430. "Anyway, did you see Xander and Cordelia outside?" she asked Buffy.
  431.  
  432. "Nah, Xander is probably waiting for Cordelia to try on her tenth outfit or
  433. something.  Well either that or he has finally run out silly one liners to
  434. add to every conversation," Buffy looked at Willow, they both agreed, "Nah."
  435.  
  436. "Yeah go figure.  I can't believe that they are still together.  I mean I
  437. have heard that opposites attract but Oil and Water" Willow said.
  438.  
  439. "True, but Cordelia has surprised me lately.  She has been quite keen to
  440. get involved in our training.  It also can't have been an easy decision to
  441. stand up to her friends and stay with Xander.  They have basically ignored
  442. her since"
  443.  
  444. "Strange I used to think that it would be harder for Xander seeing that we
  445. all really didn't like her.  But you're right, she's not the girl she use
  446. to be."  Willow took another sip of cola.
  447.  
  448. "And now you are with Oz," Buffy said, "and I might add it seems to be
  449. agreeing with you rather well."
  450.  
  451. "Yes it does.  It shows doesn't it?  I can't help it.  My life is so full
  452. when he's around," replied Willow, "if Xander's as happy as I am - lucky him."
  453.  
  454. "Yeah well I think he is.  He was really glowing this morning," Buffy added
  455. looking at Willow inquisitively.
  456.  
  457. "I didn't really notice," then seeing Buffy's look, "you mean, nah... you
  458. think?"
  459.  
  460. ...........................................................
  461.  
  462. Outside the Bronze, Cordelia parked the car and Xander and Cordelia got out.
  463.  
  464. "Do you think our friends noticed?" Xander asked.
  465.  
  466. "I don't think so.  Who cares if they do?  I know this about our friends,
  467. they may interested but they won't pry" Cordelia responded.
  468.  
  469. "C'mon lets get inside.  Maybe we should argue a bit to throw them off
  470. track, just in case," Xander offered.
  471.  
  472. Cordelia grabbed his hand, "As if that would ever be a problem, I mean,
  473. look at your hair, heard of a brush?"
  474.

  476.  
  477. The sun seemed to set very quickly in Sunnydale.  Tonight was no exception.
  478.  It had the aura of completely transforming the place.  What in daylight
  479. could look inviting, in darkness oozed terror.  Shadows that could conceal,
  480. shadows that only brought them.  Terror in the form of Vampires.
  481.  
  482. A group of fifteen vampires, including Angel, Drusilla and Spike appeared
  483. from one such shadow, in an alleyway, just to the right of the front
  484. entrance to the Bronze.
  485.  
  486. "Are you sure she's in here Angel?" Spike asked, looking at the front
  487. entrance.
  488.  
  489. "I can feel her.  She's in there all right.  I just hope our appetizer is
  490. in there as well," he replied as the group headed towards the entrance.

  541. 4.30am
  542. May 1st 1998

  545. Evil.  The place shouted the feeling.  It wasn't just the darkness of the
  546. hall.  It was more tangible than that.  It hung in the air.  The hall while
  547. mainly spartan was decorated in part with furniture that would not have
  548. looked out of place two hundred years earlier.  Candles, situated around
  549. the room provided the light.  There was probably fifty or more, giving the
  550. room enough light to illuminate the main areas, while shrouding the corners
  551. in darkness.   From the center of the room it was impossible to tell if
  552. anyone else was in the room, unless they were also in the center.  With
  553. more than ten entry points to the room, it was a disconcerting place to be,
  554. except if it was your home.
  555.  
  556. The silence was broken with a scream.  It almost sounded like a moan.
  557.  
  558. "No!!!!!!!"
  559.  
  560. At that point three figures emerged from the shadows.  The taller of the
  561. figures moved towards the table situated in the center of the room.  He
  562. slammed his fists on the table,
  563.  
  564. "I am not having fun"
  565.  
  566. He through a couple of plates and cups that were on the table, smashing
  567. them into the far wall, just missing the two other occupants, a male and a
  568. female.
  569.  
  570. "Watch it Angel" spoke the male, with an English accent.
  571.  
  572. Angel glared at him.  His glare could create fear into normal people.
  573. Cold, pure as it could be.   He looked like he was contemplating attacking,
  574. but withdrew from his offensive pose and sat himself in a chair that was
  575. situated beside the table.
  576.  
  577. Angel could have been considered good looking.  A tall male. Looking around
  578. twenty-four, dark hair and the face of a model, he would have been quite a
  579. catch, if it weren't for one thing.
  580.  
  581. "Don't lecture me Spike.  She did it to us again.  We live to enjoy
  582. ourselves.  Otherwise what's the point? "
  583.  
  584. Spike moved towards him.  He had a top of white hair and a maniacal look in
  585. his eye.  While not as tall as Angel, he was only a little less
  586. intimidating, "Well why don't we do something about it?"

  588. "What do you think we have been doing.  She gets in our way," Angel retorted.
  589.  
  590. "That's not what I mean.  We need to forget about all our other pleasures
  591. for a while and concentrate on eliminating her," Spike replied while moving
  592. away to take the hand of the female.  He brought her into the center of the
  593. room and sat her at the table, "What do you think Dru?"
  594.  
  595. "Angel knows what he's doing, Spike" she also spoke with an English accent
  596. although it had a twisted edge to it, an almost insane touch, "you do know
  597. what you are doing?" she asked Angel.
  598.  
  599. "Drusilla my darling, I knew what I was doing when I did you didn't I", he
  600. replied with a smile.
  601.  
  602. Drusilla smiled back, as if drooling on the experience.  Spike moved back
  603. towards Angel and crouched behind him, with one hand on his shoulder, "O.K.
  604. what next?" he asked.
  605.  
  606. "I think it's time to stop playing around.  It was fun in the beginning but
  607. our numbers are being depleted and we have not progressed.  I want to hurt
  608. her, " Angel said as he rose to circle the table. "Killing her would be too
  609. easy.  I want to take her friends one by one.  And when they are all gone,
  610. then I will take her as my mate, only this time it will be the real me.
  611. Buffy and Angel, Spike an Drusilla, it does have a good ring to it"
  612.  
  613. "I don't like it Angel.  Killing that gypsy witch didn't help, if anything
  614. it has made the Slayer stronger.  Just kill her," Spike stated.
  615.  
  616. "No!  It's not my way.  You know that Spike, you use to enjoy witnessing it."
  617.  
  618. "That was before her.  Before you and her were close.  She's too dangerous."
  619.  
  620. "Yes she is dangerous.  She is more dangerous than any other slayer.
  621. That's precisely why I need to kill her from the inside. And stop bringing
  622. up the past Spike.  That wasn't me.  I have none of those feelings anymore.
  623.  I just think that if she dies with the knowledge in her head that she will
  624. be by my side for eternity it will be the icing on the cake, but only if
  625. her friends are gone one by one in front of her eyes first"
  626.  
  627. "Let me do it Angel, I want to do it," Drusilla interjected.
  628.  
  629. Angel moved to Drusilla and caressed he face; "There will be plenty for all
  630. of us to do, Dru"
  631.  
  632. Spike looked on with rising anger.  Drusilla was his.  He would have been
  633. more worried if he really thought Angel would take her away.  He was more
  634. upset with how Drusilla encouraged it and enjoyed it.
  635.  
  636. "You would do better to think about what we have to do, Angel.  How do you
  637. want to do this?" he asked.
  638.  
  639. Angel looked up and smiled, knowing that he was getting to Spike, one of
  640. his favorite pastimes.  
  641.  
  642. "It's simple really.  I want to kill two birds with one stone.  Hurt Buffy
  643. and accomplish a personal task.  Xander is first on the list."
  644.  
  645. "Why him specifically?"  Spike asked
  646.  
  647. Angel turned around.  His face had changed and he now had a protruding
  648. forehead, which shaped around the eyes, creating an arrow point down the
  649. nose.  He smiled revealing two longer teeth at the side of his mouth.

  651.  "Why?   I don't like him."

  693. Chapter 9

  696. Oz's band had started their second set of the night.  The Band, "The dingo
  697. ate my baby" had built a steady following in the last few months.  Oz often
  698. commented that this was helped in no small part by the band actually
  699. practicing.  Willow didn't care; she would be up dancing even if it was
  700. horrible.  She looked over at her friends motioning for them to join her on
  701. the dance floor.  Giles recoiled in horror, but Buffy and Cordelia got up
  702. to join her.  Xander volunteered to stay with Giles and keep observing.
  703.  
  704. "No worries Xander, at least you can do that better than you dance,"
  705. Cordelia quipped as she made her way to the dance floor.
  706.  
  707. Xander of course liked to dance, almost as much as he liked to see Cordelia
  708. dance.  But he wasn't totally lying about his reasons for staying with
  709. Giles. His limited training so far, his own instincts and his short period
  710. as a solider last Halloween made him realize that it was best not to weaken
  711. a flank.  It was much better to have him and Giles together than Giles by
  712. himself.
  713.  
  714. Giles turned to him, "So Xander have you been practicing your moves?" 
  715.  
  716. "No...what's Cordelia been saying?" he replied looking embarrassed.
  717.  
  718. "No not that, heaven forbid the details," Giles jumped in before Xander
  719. could say anything more.  "Your fighting skills?"
  720.  
  721. "Yes.  Not that I really want to test them yet unless I have to, but I have
  722. been putting in the hours."
  723.  
  724. "Good.  I must say you have come along rather well.  All of you have, "
  725. Giles replied.
  726.  
  727. "We have excellent teachers," Xander said with just the slightest hint of
  728. patronization.
  729.  
  730. 'Yes fine.... I wouldn't want you to go one on one with a vampire yet, but
  731. hopefully it will be enough to get you out of trouble not into it.  Just
  732. enough to get away to safety."
  733.  
  734. "Believe me Giles, that will be the only thing on my mind."
  735.  
  736. .............................................
  737.  
  738. Behind them the vampires had started to enter.  With the light show that
  739. was going on while the band was playing it was impossible to see much off
  740. the dance floor.  Angel ordered the vampires to conceal themselves until it
  741. was time.  Spike, Drusilla and Angel spread out along the back wall, near
  742. the bar.
  743.  
  744. "Remember I want Xander, anyone else is gravy for the masses" he told them.
  745.  He hadn't bothered to tell the rest of the Vampires.  To be honest he
  746. didn't care what happened to them.  He considered them to stupid to pose a
  747. serious threat to Buffy's gang.
  748.

  750.  
  751. "Wow he's really good," Cordelia said commenting on Oz's playing as they
  752. exited the dance floor and took their seats.  
  753.  
  754. Buffy and Willow just stared at each other.
  755.  
  756. "I can be nice sometimes," Cordelia said in her own defense," I'm in a
  757. really good mood."  She leant over and put her arm around Xander.  
  758.  
  759. Buffy and Willow looked at each other as if to say, "Oh My God!!!"
  760.  
  761. Buffy decided to change the subject, "So Giles anything hairy going on."
  762.  
  763. "No it has been surprisingly quiet."
  764.  
  765. "Funny.  I feel as though we are being watched," she said as she looked
  766. around.
  767.  
  768. "Well if you think we should go," Giles suggested.
  769.  
  770. "We can't go.  Oz has a few more songs to play," Willow interjected.
  771.  
  772. "It's O.K. Willow.  We won't go yet.  The feeling is pretty small on the
  773. wig factor."
  774.  
  775. Willow happy with that, turned back around to face the band.  
  776.  
  777. "I am going for a drink," Cordelia said looking around the table, "anyone
  778. else?"  Buffy, Willow and Giles all shook their heads.
  779.  
  780. "I'll come with you," said Xander getting up next to Cordelia.
  781.  
  782. "Oh glorious savior" replied Cordelia.
  783.  
  784. "Better prey I don't have to protect you from Dragons.  That will be a
  785. tough call distinguishing the difference," Xander said as they moved off.
  786.  
  787. Buffy looked at Willow, " ... and maybe they didn't."
  788.  
  789. Buffy followed them with her eyes as they walked towards the bar.  She saw
  790. Cordelia go up and order, with Xander doing his best bodyguard impression.
  791. She got the feeling again.  She quickly glanced to the left, then to the
  792. right.  She couldn't see anyone.
  793.  
  794. "Giles, something's wrong, I can sense it."
  795.  
  796. Giles turned around and looked.  He could not see anything either.
  797.  
  798. ..........
  799.  
  800. Cordelia got her drink and turned to face Xander
  801.  
  802. ............
  803.  
  804. Buffy saw him, "Cordelia, Xander watch out," she shouted
  805.  
  806. ..............
  807.  
  808. Cordelia thought she heard something, before she could check a dark shape
  809. blocked her way.  She looked the figure, she new that Face, Angel.  She
  810. screamed, but was quickly silenced by a punch to the jaw.  Cordelia fell
  811. down, knocking her head against the bar as she did.
  812.  
  813. ............
  814.  
  815. Buffy had seen Angel appear and punch Cordelia and she was now no more than
  816. a couple of feet from him when he reached for Xander.  She went to shout
  817. and warn him, when suddenly her legs were taken out from under her.
  818.  
  819. ..............
  820.  
  821. By this time the club was filled with screams.  The band had stopped
  822. playing.  Oz saw a vampire sneaking up on Willow.  Grabbing a drumstick he
  823. ran and plunged the stick through its heart, shattering it to dust.  He
  824. grabbed Willow and headed for the stage, to open the back door and let some
  825. people out.
  826.  
  827. ................
  828.  
  829. Giles saw Buffy take off, and then in quick succession Cordelia get hit and
  830. Buffy get taken down by Spike.   He was about to rush to help Buffy but saw
  831. that she was back on her feet.  He grabbed his stakes out of his bag he was
  832. carrying and went looking for vampires to kill.
  833.  
  834. ....................
  835.  
  836. Xander had seen out of the corner of his eye Cordelia go down, in one
  837. motion he turned and punched Angel.  Angel reeled from the blow.
  838.  
  839. "Not bad," he commented.
  840.  
  841. "Good enough to make you wish you had never laid a hand on her," Xander
  842. replied.
  843.  
  844. He shouldn't have replied, it gave Angel the opportunity to kick him in the
  845. stomach, knocking him to the floor.
  846.  
  847. .................
  848.  
  849. Buffy unleashed a flurry of kicks against Spike.  Spike took most of them
  850. but by the sixth and seventh he had decided that he should get out of
  851. there.  He exited quickly.  Buffy was going to follow but saw Drusilla
  852. moving towards Cordelia's prone body.
  853.  
  854. A couple of twists and flips and she stood in front of Drusilla.  Quickly
  855. punching her away, she bent down over Cordelia checking her neck to see if
  856. she was O.K..  There was no bite marks and she still had a pulse.  Good,
  857. now onto Angel.
  858.  
  859. She turned to see Xander hit Angel again, only this time Angel hardly felt
  860. it.  She knew Xander was tiring and soon he wouldn't be able to defend
  861. himself.  She got up and kicked Angel away from Xander.
  862.  
  863. "Xander look after Cordelia," she screamed as she laid another flurry of
  864. kicks at Angel.  
  865.  
  866. .................
  867.  
  868. Giles moved to another vampire and staked it.  He looked around for another
  869. vampire and couldn't see any on the top level.  He raced to the stairs and
  870. down them.  It looked like all the vampires were gone, apart from Angel.
  871.  
  872. .................
  873.  
  874. Buffy and Angel continued hitting each other.  Blow for blow, kick for
  875. kick, neither one was gaining the advantage.  It didn't help that she kept
  876. checking on Xander and Cordelia to see it they were O.K..  Xander's face
  877. was a bloody mess.  He had at least three deep lacerations.
  878.  
  879. "Giles, get over here and get them out of here" she shouted as she saw
  880. Giles coming over to her.
  881.  
  882. "You aren't going to kill my friends tonight" she spat at Angel, ducking a
  883. punch and landing one of her own.
  884.  
  885. ...................................
  886.  
  887. Giles made it over to Xander and Cordelia.  Cordelia was barley conscious;
  888. Xander was covering her, alert, if exhausted.  He bent down to drag them
  889. away, when suddenly he was kicked from behind.  As he turned around he saw
  890. Spike standing above him.
  891.  
  892. Xander witnessed Spike take Giles down.  He saw Spike move towards Giles to
  893. try and end it.  With every ounce of strength he made it to his feet and
  894. half jumped/half fell on Spike.  Spike was knocked away from the impact.
  895. Spike got up and turned around about to attack when suddenly he noticed
  896. something behind Xander and Giles.  He smiled and waved goodbye, exiting
  897. out the front door.
  898.

  900.  
  901. Angel glanced off another blow.  He decided to cut his losses and fight
  902. another day.  
  903.  
  904. "It has been fun hasn't it" he mocked Buffy as he moved off.
  905.  
  906. Buffy made no attempt to follow, as she was more concerned with her
  907. friends.  She went over to them.  Giles and Xander were both alive.  She
  908. looked around.  She saw Willow and Oz coming over.
  909.  
  910. "We got nearly everyone out," Willow said.  
  911.  
  912. Buffy continued glancing around.  Where was Cordelia?  A sudden panic hit
  913. her.  She ran out the front entrance.  She reached outside.  There was no
  914. sign of them.  She was pretty sure they had taken her.  She had to get her
  915. back.  Cordelia had not only become a good friend; she was also the
  916. girlfriend of one of her best friends.  
  917.  
  918. "Oh god...how am I going to tell Xander," she whispered to herself.

  967. Cordelia awoke to find herself tied down.  She looked around the room,
  968. struggling to make out any shapes.  The room had little if no light.  There
  969. were a few candles lit next to the bed she was tied up to.
  970.  
  971. "A bed" she thought, "Why am I tied to a bed?"
  972.  
  973. ......................................................
  974.  
  975. "What the hell to you mean, you think Angel took her?" Xander looked at
  976. Buffy hoping for a more positive response.  He had held his anger in as
  977. much as possible as they had made their way back to the school library.
  978.  
  979. "All I know is I turned around and she was gone.  I think it's highly
  980. probably that she was either taken or....,"she replied.
  981.  
  982. "No don't say it," Xander said as he walked away from Buffy.  He walked
  983. over to a filing cabinet, which was in the corner of the library and rested
  984. his arms and head on the top of it.  He exploded.  He kicked and punched
  985. the filing cabinet, as if he could draw blood from it, he did not stop till
  986. blood was spilt from his hands.  He slowly turned around and addressed the
  987. group.
  988.  
  989. " If that blood sucking parasite has hurt her, I will kill him.  I won't
  990. stop till he, or I are dead."
  991.  
  992. "Xander, think of what you are saying.  We have to think about this if we
  993. are to save her." Willow advised.
  994.  
  995. "Willow she has become my life," tears started to swell up in Xander's
  996. eyes, "we are together now.  I can't be without her.  You know what I mean."
  997.  
  998. Willow looked at him.  Trying to understand exactly what he was saying.
  999.  
  1000. "I do, "Buffy said softly looking him straight in the eyes.  Her eyes
  1001. showed the inner torment she was feeling.  She moved towards him and put
  1002. her arm around him.  "Xander you will not lose her.  I won't have you go
  1003. through what I did."
  1004.  
  1005. ...................................
  1006.  
  1007. "So Cordelia, you always wanted to share a bed with me.  What's it like."
  1008. Angel asked while stroking her hair, "Oh that's right you can't speak.
  1009. Must be an unusual experience for you not being able to have the last word."
  1010.  
  1011. Cordelia had seen Angel appear out of the shadows.  He mockingly called he
  1012. name as he did.  She watched in terror as he moved towards her position.
  1013. She couldn't think about what Angel was going to do to her.  She had
  1014. already decided that unless Buffy came to rescue her she did not want to
  1015. think about her future.  Angel came over and lay down on the bed with her.
  1016. His hand moved over and for a minute she thought he was going to strangle
  1017. her.  Instead he touched her hair.  She felt like she was going to be sick.
  1018.  
  1019. "C'mon Cordelia, this is your fantasy isn't it.  You always wanted what
  1020. Buffy had."
  1021.  
  1022. Angel moved his hand down from Cordelia's hair, over her face, lightly
  1023. touching her cheeks, "It's almost worth taking the gag off, just to savor
  1024. you lips, " he whispered.  He then moved his hand down further, running
  1025. along the front of her dress.
  1026.  
  1027. "Angel, let me kill her now," came a voice from the dark.
  1028.  
  1029. "Dru, you know my rules.  We have to get the catch, before the bait can be
  1030. eaten," Angel said stopping his caressing.  Drusilla came out of the
  1031. shadows and sat on the opposite side of the bed, so that Cordelia was
  1032. sandwiched between the two.
  1033.  
  1034. "But after that, I have her, can't I Angel,"
  1035.  
  1036. "Of course you can Dru, you can have her, while I have her boyfriend,"
  1037. Angel said glancing down at Cordelia.  Cordelia tried to scream.  
  1038.  
  1039. ............................
  1040.  
  1041. Buffy, Willow, Oz and Giles were sitting around a table formulating a plan.
  1042.  All had agreed that this would be the hardest thing they would have had to
  1043. do.  Xander sat by himself.  Buffy turned to look at him hoping that his
  1044. anger would not hinder him in what was to come.  She wanted to get him in
  1045. on the conversation.
  1046.  
  1047. "Xander what do you think?" she asked hoping he would offer some
  1048. suggestions.  Xander just shrugged his shoulders.  Buffy turned to Giles,
  1049. "We have to get him doing something."
  1050.  
  1051. "I know," Giles replied, "Xander could you go and get all the weaponry ready?"
  1052.  
  1053. Xander got up and went over to the cupboard where all the weaponry was
  1054. kept.  It took all of his willpower not to grab a few crossbows and go
  1055. after her.  The bottles of Holy Water caught his eye.  His mouth started to
  1056. curl up at the sides, in the form of a sadistic grin rather than a smile.
  1057. He had a plan.  One that he hoped would cause a great deal of pain to
  1058. Angel, if not killing him.
  1059.  
  1060. ...............................
  1061.  
  1062. Cordelia was relieved that both Angel and Drusilla had moved away from her.
  1063.  Her mind really wasn't on herself.  She kept hearing Angel's last words,
  1064. ..... "when I have her boyfriend."  
  1065.  
  1066. A number of vampires came into the room.  Cordelia tried to close off her
  1067. thoughts, seeing she could hear what they were saying.
  1068.  
  1069. "We should just kill her now, " Spike argued, " this game's pointless.  Why
  1070. worry about the boy, we should be killing the Slayer."
  1071.  
  1072. Angel had by this time had more than enough of Spike's objections, "Listen
  1073. Spike, if you don't like it, there's the door.  Remember that you failed
  1074. pretty miserably in getting the Slayer.  To kill Buffy, you need to kill
  1075. her from the inside.  First you take her friends, then her family and then
  1076. maybe you will be able to kill her."
  1077.  
  1078. " Well Angel, I am telling you that if you don't get some results tonight,
  1079. you and me are going to have to have a talk."
  1080.  
  1081. Angel looked like he would strike Spike there and then.  Instead he smiled,
  1082. "I will be looking forward to it Spike."
  1083.  
  1084. ..................
  1085.  
  1086. "C'mon let's get going already," Xander was calling from the door.
  1087.  
  1088. "Just a sec, Xander," Giles said, "Buffy over here".
  1089.  
  1090. Buffy came over to Giles, who was looking at one of the Holy Water
  1091. containers, "One of them is missing some fluid," he said.
  1092.  
  1093. "Wow there's a puzzle," she replied, "who cares, there's plenty left.  We
  1094. have to get going.  You grab those three containers and I grab the rest."
  1095.  
  1096. With that Buffy and Giles caught up with Willow, Oz and Xander at the door.
  1097.  Rushing past them, Buffy turned around, "Well are you ready? " She kept on
  1098. walking.
  1099.  
  1100. Willow and Oz immediately followed, with Giles just behind them. Xander
  1101. looked at them for a moment and then tapped his jacket pocket.
  1102.  
  1103. "You don't know just how ready I am," he said to himself, before setting
  1104. off with them.
  1105.
