Oh, yes -- or, in the same vein, where Nancy is in the standard

good times never stop when you're living on a Hellmouth!

I can't see that pairing, though it would be
amusing. But how about Oz and Faith? She must hook
up ("get some, get gone") with somebody during her
stay in Sunnydale, don't you think? I mean,
everybody else is acting on their hormonal drives.
They might be perfect together, albeit only
briefly: Oz is hurt and is trying to get over
Willow (though I doubt he'll succeed) and Faith is
Miss Chip on the Shoulder anyway. They might seek
a little temporary solace together. Just a
thought. . .

Giles took it off of Cordelia before they took her away. That is how he had
it later to research what it was. Now I am confused as to whether Anya was
wearing a different one when Giles summoned her or if he crushed the only
one around. Also, if the books knew to kill her by destroying her center of
power, does that mean it had been done before and this was a new/different
demon?
I did love this episode. Willow and Xander together were so *hot*.
Especially when they killed Cordy. Wow :)

but didn't the ep mention there was also vampire activity in cleveland? there
were vampires in other places, not just sunnydale. there are just more
vampires and other demonic activity in sunnydale because of the hellmouth.
this makes me think of something. if there is a government conspiracy to cover
up what's happening in sunnydale, what about the rest of the country? could
this mean that even the president is in on it? and what about the rest of the
world? it just seems to me that if vamps and demons lurk beyond sunnydale,
there would be this vast network covering it up that would most likely lead
all the way to the white house. does this seem feasible, or am i just a ding-

I'm afraid that, as much as I don't want to. I'm going to have to join
the 'What was the point' camp. IMO it would have worked so very much
better if at the end, everyone could have 'woken up' from the other
reality into this. Remembering it, perhaps, as one would a nightmare.
There is a tendency for the characters to play 'chicken and the egg' with
Buffy and the Hellmouth. The characters sometimes wonder if Buffy isn't
actually somehow responsible for the events around her, rather than
responding to them, we saw it in 'Anne', when Lilly blamed her for the
death of her lover, and again last night with Cordelia. An alternate
ending where some or all remember the 'wished' reality could have laid
those thoughts to rest once and for all. It could also have served to
remind the characters of how good they actually do have it, and how much
worse it could be, and given them a new appreciation for the support
that they give each other.

Wow totally awesome episode!! I was really surprised to see Cordy dead. I
was scared there for a minute that they would be stuck in that alternate world
cuz she would be the only one to reverse the spell-but Giles is sooo smart!
That blood/tube thing totally grossed me out though......it was sad how Oz
killed Willow, Xander Angel, and Buffy Xander.
I had some questions ( a lot) -what was with Buffy's scar on her face?, what
happened to the Annointed one?, why was Buffy in Cleveland?, why was Giles
still there?, is Oz still a werewolf?, who the heck made Willow/Xander vamps?

I just thought of something, and I may not be the only one, but since
everyone's death was significant because of WHO killed them, I thought it
was ironic that in the TRUE reality, Cordelia had been giving Willow and
Xander HELL all throughout their school years and for them to kill her so
viciously was MAJOR payback, in a way. :)
Also, I have to agree with the person who said "The Wish" was for the
AUDIENCE's benefit, and not necessarily the characters'. I mean, this
episode WAS just a stand alone one, and a good one at that. So the
characters didn't remember it, and never will. WE, the viewers (well,
most of us), certainly will and that's all that really matters.
Of note: There is a new magazine (name escapes me) where it has like the
20 Hottest Guys and has David Boreanez on the cover with a three page
artcle inside. I think the pics are also new. Nicholas and Seth are part
of the 20 but David is number 1.

I would expect so (in re: the adage). Thing is, well, 1) you're right.
Cordelia _wasn't_ scorned. And at the same time you have the issue of 2)
what exactly did Willow and Xander _do_? They thought that they were
going to die. So they kissed. Ooooo. Pardon me while I get all
offended. Yes, he betrayed her trust -- and yes, he's fighting an uphill
battle to get it back. While it doesn't justify his actions, it's still a
fact that he fought his hormones a bloody long time.
For a teenage boy, amazing.
Which is why I have an issue with Anya (and did anyone else keep expecting
her to start singing 'A Rumour In St. Petersburg'?) being the 'patron
saint' of anything. 'Meddling sadistic preyer-upon of scorned women'
seems a lot more likely.

I love these sort of things. I tormented my friends for almost a year

resurrecting her lover without paying attention to what consequences could

without long-term consequence.

When the Slayer slays alone, the Slayer dies the same way. It's a lesson
that's been driven home time and time again. Empowerment is all well and
good -- the Slayer archetype can't _help_ being empowering -- but it's
nothing if it's power without backup.

It's hard not to be low-tech when you've been trapped underground for x
many years. And, like Henry Ford, he seemed to be going with production
above common sense. _Never_ kill your resources!

I'd think it more likely that she'd have been gathered up as a gift for
the Master himself, bein' pretty and noisy an' all. Although it's always
possible that in the no-Buffy world she just didn't go that night.
> Quite a different Buffy that Giles first encountered in this ep

This was a Buffy who didn't care -- closer to 'Anne' then to 'WttH.' I'm
glad she's not _our_ Buffy.

Probably because they snapped as severely as they both did. Vampire grabs
Willow, going 'ooo, pretty, maybe it'll make a nice dead thing.' Xander
flips out. So, out of that delightful 'sense of humour' that vamps often
seem to have, they vamp 'em both.

It's always the mice that make the most deadly lions, when you give them
the chance. They have the aggressions to work out.

Maybe some minds deal better with the shock of 'oh, hey, I'm a demon.'
Willow retreated into total psychosis. Some folks just shouldn't cut

Remember Jesse? He lost a lot of dork points after he became a
god/hatrack. Maybe Xander just realized that he didn't have to play well
with others anymore.

One more idea as to why Willow and Xander were turned....
Willow used to hang out at the library quite a bit B.B. (Before Buffy),
so she would have known Giles. Since she and Xander are both good people,
brave in a clinch and all of that, they probably would have been around
to help out the Whitehats. Now vamps have a sick sense of humor, so
wouldn't it have hurt the Whitehats terribly not only to have lost two
valued members, but to have to battle those now-vampish members? Xander
and Willow probably started out as mere minions, but given Xander's
predeliction toward really sexy evil (ooops. Did I say that out loud?)
when his conscience is taken away, (see The Pack. He makes a good bad
guy, no?) he probably rose to the top fairly quickly. Willow may have
snapped either pre-turning when she saw all the carnage around her
without being able to do anything, or post-turning when it turned out
that her sweet personality was incompatible with being a vampire. Anyway,
a la Druscilla, insane people make good vamps, and there we have it.
Voila. Two vampire lieutenants, made to order from two members of the
would-be-Scooby-Gang.
Cheers!

'Slime and Antlers' is a really accurate description of Chaos demons from a

You made some good points, but one story line that is used often is that
vampires and other evil things are attracted to innocence (even in
Buffy...ex. Angel to Dru). Usually in such story lines, the evil thing
turns the creature to a vicious killer, and exact opposite to their
previous innocence. In some stories, the more innocent a person is when
they are turned into a monster, the more vicious they are as that
monster (Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind...ex. Mistress Denna and
the rest of the Mord Syth). Therefore, Xander and Willow would be
perfect candidates and be two of the nastiest.

I also know he was in The Wish as Slurpee Guy. If someone could please
satisfy my curiosity and tell me who he was in each of the above eps, as
well
as if I'm missing any other appearances, I'd appreciate it (as would my
cousin,
who is a big Buffy fan but not on the list).
By the way, the IMDB listing also shows that he was in Pleasantville as Juke
Box
Guy (I think this was mentioned on the list a while back) and in Dangerous
Minds
as a Student.
Thanks much!
Allen
