I may be out of the loop, but can someone please explain to me this whole

There I want to see how that subject shows up on a reply. Now I have a couple
of things to say. First, about my first post I would like to heap praise on
those who replied.
PRAISE
PRAISE PRAISE PRAISE PRAISE
PRAISE PRAISE PRAISE PRAISE PRAISE PRAISE
THOSE WHO REPLIED
Now then, I also wanted to clarify two things:1)I felt spike was a more
effective(efficient?)villain not necessarily better from a dramatic sense.
2)I feel Mr.Trick is like a more modern mobster, like Gotti, whereas I felt
that Spike reminded me of a prohibition gangster circa "Angels With Dirty
Faces".
next I think the character I most resemble is Giles ,I know a lot of
interesting ,but embarassingly esoteric, facts.I have a dry sense of humor ,but
do have my wacky moments("does anyone else think the finger food is made of
actual fingers").Also like Giles I have a"Ripper" that I work hard at keeping
locked up.
Finally(and don't think I can't hear your sighs of relief just because this is
on a computer),I have two (probably very inflammatory)words for any Joss
bashers out there: Chris Carter.

First off I wish to ask you all to keep your mockery of this post to a
minimum.
Now I know this is going back a bit but I just joined the list recently and
just remembered this now. In "ANNE" there is that scene where Buffy is on this
sort of raised platform fighting the evil slave trader guys with a hammer and
then she kicks the crap out of one of them who is using this sickle/axe thing.
It goes flying up in the air and she catches it when it falls and they sort of
freeze on this shot of her standing their with them (the weapons)crossed for a
split second and then she precedes to kick the crap out of more of them.
I know I probably took to long to describe the scene but here's my point. Was
I the only one who saw this and thought "whoa, here she is fighting to free the
oppressed workers with a hammer and sickle." I mean how much more of a
Communist sub text can you ask for. Like I said earlier try not to laugh too
hard, after all you guys are the only ones I trust enough to spout crazy stuff
like this you should be honored.

I saw a sneak preview of "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer" this past
weekend. But that's obviously not the reason I'm writing this.
One of the previews (it may have been the first) was for SMG's new movie
"Cruel Intentions." I'm hoping it will be in most theater trailers since
it would attract the same audience as "ISKWYDLS." I barely even recognized
Ryan Phillippe, but as soon as I saw Reese Witherspoon I knew what it was.
SMG is the one that's really gonna be this movie good!!

Someone made the observation that Giles and Joyce may have done the wild
thing. Now that I think about it, this just might be a possibility. The
way Giles and Joyce looked so ashamed of themselves when Buffy said she
was glad she had stopped them from going to far, would seem to even
reinforce the idea that maybe they did more than just kiss.
Still, I'm thinking while they may later reveal that Giles and Joyce were
sexually intimate, no way would they allow Joyce to give birth to an
illegitimate baby fathered by Buffy's Watcher, but it is something that
boggles the mind, isn't it?

From the looks Giles and Joyce exchanged at the end, I'm sure that
they had sex. The only questions are when and where? My theory is
that they had sex on top of the car right after he smashed the window
and stole the jacket for her. The way he grabbed and slowly lowered
her to the hood was very sexy, and the slow fade-out is extremly
suggestive.
Did anyone else think that Joyce looke pretty hot in knee boots and a
mini-skirt? Who knew that she had such a nice figure and legs
beneath those baggy Grandma outfits?
Sorry if I grossed anyone out.

God, I can't even begin to respond to your post. It was wonderful
and very right on the money. I enjoyed reading your post. Lately, posts
have just been on everyone outside of the Buffy/Angel relationship needs
to go away. I agree with all your points. As for the "re-seeing" theory,
it's symbolicaly significant that Willow comes out from behind a screen and
it's almost as if she's altered from the last time Xander looked at her.
This emotional transformation just wouldn't have worked in any other
context than this scene. The fact that they had donned different clothes
and therefore new personas really contributed to the moment. And Xander and
Willow weren't looking at each other--Willow obstructed from view by a
screen. Nevermind that it was a nostalgic scene, you know, senior year, our
last homecoming, looking back on all the years we've known each other
moment. Willow revokes a clip on tie memory of when they were just friends,
walks behind a screen, engages in conversation about sexual exploits--a new
side of Xander and Willow's friendship, discussing boyfriends and
girlfriends--and then steps out in something we've never seen her in before
and it's clear that to Xander she's gone through this transformation from
childhood buddy to lovely young woman. It all worked wonderfully.
I didn't really want Xander and Willow together in the first two
seasons because I wasn't sure if it would mesh well, but now it just seems
so right. I love both Oz and Cordelia. I feel especially sorry for Cordy
because she's thawed and opened herself to Xander and the Scooby gang and
it's probably the first time she's allowed people to become close to her
and allowing herself to care for others--and now she's going to be hurt
badly if she truly loves Xander. The BX says it all. sigh. but good drama
is what we live for, huh?

Same as always, just my random rambling thoughts:
I LOVED this episode. Finally the adults had a chance to steal the
show... with Snyder as the star! Who woulda guessed?! He had me
practically in tears with every one of his lines. So Sydner being the main
man was one of my favorite things. Favorite thing #2: Giles being
oh-so-sexy... I was sad to see him back in tweed at the end. Sigh... but
at least the ultra-cool Ripper scenes made up for an almost completely
Xander-less episode. I know a lot of you guys are Xander-haters, but I
personally like his cute one-liners and just getting to look at him for an
hour a week! Coming in at #3... no Faith! They're doing a great job of
not overusing her character and only bringing her in when it's necessary.
From that preview (yes! our WB station finally showed a preview for the
first time this season!) , I think she's gonna have a lot of airtime next
ep. #4... thank you Buffy for finally telling us where you got the blood,
that's been bothering me since last week. And #5... I actually got my
boyfriend to sit down and watch the entire episode with me, and he loved
it! =) =) =) He laughed so hard he started choking at the look on Willow's
face when Cordelia asked her if she wanted to swap in the library.
And just a nothing-to-do-with-the-episode note:
I FINALLY got my copy of The Watcher's Guide, and the cashier at Barnes and
Noble was telling me that it was her and her husband's favorite show...
their kids got them watching it and now they love it. It's so cute to
watch a sixty year-old lady ramble about Buffy. =)
Speaking of rambling, I'm stopping now. =)

A good, fun mostly filler episode (let me say that I do not consider
filler episodes to be a bad thing or in any way a waste of time, they
keep the show from getting too dark).
Some comments on previous posts.
1. I think that the candy had a triple action to get the effect that we
saw a) regressed them to a teen age maturity level and 2) took away all
there inhibitions and 3) got them high. We didn't see anyone regress
into a shy, introverted person or a seriously studious person, or any of
the other types of teens there are in your average mix also nobody was
freaked out seeing there friends acting so a-typically (imagine how the
gang would react if Willow got up and started doing Kareoke on stage)
2. I do think there are going to be repercussions from this night. After
the show I asked my husband if he thought that Buffy was going to have a
little brother or sister in nine months. He replied that he had noticed
that Giles had changed his pants between the apartment and the wanderings
around town. Lots of plot potential in that development.
3. Next Week: Let's not crucify Xander just yet. Remember how misleading
the scenes can be.

As usual, I have to agree with everything Alverdine said. Things have been
way too serious so far this season, and up until now, we havn't had a good
solid stand alone episode. Band Candy changes all that. Terrific episode,

I totally agree. However, am I the only one who is thinking that the
anti-smoking message has now gotten too obvious? I mean, in Nightmares,
that was one thing: Go to sneak a smoke and have some big ogre with a
club beat you senseless. However, here Buffy actually SAYS (to a winded
Giles): "That's what smoking will do to you!" Nevermind the fact that we
have a 40ish, somewhat athletic man who is managing to keep up with a
17yr old, VERY athletic person.
I didn't see any anti-abortion message here at all. I did however see the
message of "Even though adults can be a pain, it's good to have mature,
responsible people around at times."
As for the Willow and Xander thing...I feel for both Cordy and Oz. It
seems that Cordy has finally learned to care for someone other than
herself, and Oz has always been a loner before Willow. We know that
Cordy's leaving the show next season, but what about Oz? It's sad,
though, since he's my favorite character, but I can't see him paired up
with anyone except Willow.
Finally, the Buffy Comics...I've read them both so far, and I think
they're really cool, except I find that the way Willow is drawn makes her
look a lot like Cordelia. When they're side-by-side, I can tell the
difference, but Willow alone often confuses me.
Cheers!

it was great! finally, some of the chemistry is back! But did you
notice that that had a lot to do with the fact taht the evil got very
little air time-- the way it used to be -- and that we had to figure
things out with the scooby gang...
Giles and Joyce were fabulous teens. I had a group of 8 over last
night, 3 of them were new or disjointed Buffy watchers- and the whole
room was laughing out loud...
were those two smoking pot? it seemed like it- although in the end it
looked like a cigarette... not that I guess that makes any difference,
since they were piss drunk during that whole time. And they had sex....
wow.
But at least Joyce got to show off her knees. I've always thought she
was a beautiful lady.
Anyone else glad to hear Gile's accent used without restraint and
propriety? Sexy!
Where were cordy and xander? making out? and faith?
seems like once again, too many characters to carry in a show.
Angel is boring!!!!!!! Don't flame me, this is just a personal opinion-
but its been a month now, and this is where we are? I agree with the
post about network contracts and so on- it makes me wonder if Angel the
show is in pre-production. David is getting minimal time- and each time
is just yeech. And buffy, sticking her chest in his face- yuck.
I noticed this week that Buffy's breasts were the #1 attraction in all
of her scenes. Remember when sweet Buffy wore her Playtex 18 hour to
bed?
:-(
anyhow- my favorite episode this season- funny, happy, and filled with
QUALITY HUMOR, at last.
however, the preview looks like a return to the same storyline that
ain't going anywhere. At this point, any ending to this story is cliche
and dull to me. If they get back together.... yeah yeah.. done that...
If they don't--- yeah yeah... been there. But I trust Joss to give us
something new. After all, he is leaving Buffy pretty soon. I mean
that literally too.

You're not wrong. XF is the only thing I have been in to more than Buffy,
since it started, and I think I am going to be very angry with CC after
this season...
ObBuffy: While Joss takes chances, and sometimes upsets viewers, at least=
it
is still darn good tv. I am not sure about the XF anymore. I foresee Buff=
y and
Angel getting too involved, and the only recourse of avoiding IT from hap=
pening
again is for him to go to LA. I am also foreseeing that the reason Cordy =
ends up there
has something to do with Willow and Xander. At least, it's a theory. Oz, =
I don't know.
What about Faith? hmmm....

Well, I was kind of looking at Joyce the same way. But luckily then Cordy
kept appearing on screen, saving me and reminding me where my true
loyalties lie. Poor Cordelia. She better buy her own copy of that
philosophy book she was talking about; she'll be needing it again. Soon.
So I was thinking: next week's episode is entitled Revelations, in the
plural. From the trailer we see that one of the revelations is the gang
learning of Angel's return from the demon dimension and the fact that Buffy
has been witholding vital information for a month or so. Is another
revelation going to be Oz and/or Cordelia finding out about Xander and Willow?

He had a lot of funny lines. I liked "Hey Summers, you drive like a spaz!"
Bonus points for use of the word spaz. Haven't heard that one since they
showed Meatballs on TBS a while ago.
So he wasn't let in on The Mayor's little plan, further establishing him as
a mere underling. And we get some insight into his character. As you say,
he was basically a dork as a teenager. Nobody paid him much attention:
"Are you trying to ditch me?" made it sound like he had experience in
trying to tag along with people who didn't want him around. So as an
adult, he enjoys having power and getting to make life hell for teenagers
just like they did to him 30 years ago. I also think that deep down, he's
not really evil, just power-hungry (they aren't exactly the same thing, are
they?) since he seemed pretty disturbed that babies were going to be eaten.
One other thought: I'm still wondering exactly why Mr. Trick is so afraid
of The Mayor. It's a little more understandable now that we see The Mayor
has essentially brokered deals with special interest groups, errr I mean
demons, to stay in power. I assume Trick figures they'd come after him if
anything happened to The Mayor? But why did Trick go so willingly with
those cops last week when they came to drag him to their initial meeting?
He could have snapped both their necks like twigs. I thought it might have
parallels to the unwritten rules of the mob (allegedly) or something:
vampires just leave law enforcement officers alone so as not to attract
unwanted scrutiny and bring the law down on them, but Spike seemed quite
content to kill an officer in Becoming.

Considering that the best villains of all time, Spike and Dru, aren't
permanent, I seriously doubt they'd ever have Ethan as a permanent character.
They just like to have consistency. Ya know, like Jonathan. I doubt he'd ever
be a permanent character either, though it's not *completely* inconcievable,
esp. when you considering everything's headed by Joss The Great Big Whack Job.

I kinda disagree. Sometimes he is too calm and cool, but I loved the look he
got on his face when he saw Willow come into the Bronze. He really worships
the girl.

that whole scene was so beautiful.....I absolutely loved it....the way Buffy
was watching him was very romantic...just the look in her eyes, it looked like
she had more respect for him knowing that he was dealing with the pain and
turning it around nto something positive....it ws wonderful, plus, the fact
that he was sirtless was nice too! LOL

Finallly! Someone from the show makes an appearance here! According to the
Dallas Morning News, David Boreanz will be at the Levi's store at the
Galleria on Saturday. He'll be there from 12-2. The store is located on
the second floor outside of Nordstrom, I believe. Check the Fashion!Dallas
section (pg 2) of the paper for more info. There's also a little article
and a picture.
Is anyone else going? E-mail me!
