Hey everyone, I was watching the re-run of Killed By Death and at the
very end this great new season 3 promo came on. It was the best by far,
so I have given it the most detail I could, it also contains some season
3 info which some might not be interested in seeing, but nothing to big.

Hey,
The new season promo, (30 secs to be exact) it had the scene right
before Angel was supposed to leave in Suprise. Then it had them on the
beach, he says, "I'll never leave you," and then he whispers, "Even if
you kill me." And this obviously is one of her dreams because they were
in the sunlight. And it also had the scene with the white shirt, and he
says, "I loved you," but this one it shows him holding his hand very
tightly and blood starts coming out and you see blood start coming out
from his shirt too, right where Buffy stabbed him. We also see Angel in
hell, he is in fire and is in chains, and over that scene you here,
"I'll be back, I will," from the episode Innocence. And in the very
beginning and end it has Buffy just starring into space with a very
blank look on her face. It was a great promo. I have been waiting for a
while for something with Angel in it too.

Subject: BUFFY: National ratings for Ted
Last Monday's repeat of Ted got a national Nielsen rating for households of
2.2, landing it in an 88th place tie out of 103 prime time shows. Out of
the 13 shows on The WB network last week, Buffy was tied for 7th. The top
rated WB program of the week was Dawson's Creek. It received a 3.9,
putting it in 76th place overall.
That top-rated repeat episode of Dawson's Creek aired in Buffy's usual
Tuesday at 8pm ET timeslot and basically doubled the national household
ratings of the last few Tuesday repeats of Buffy.
I apologize for harping on this yet again, but the strange difference in
the relationship between overnight and national ratings for Buffy and DC
continues. DC got a 3.3 overnight (so Nielsen estimates 3.3% of the
households in the top 40 TV markets covering about 60% of the nation
watched Dawson's Creek) but it got a 3.9 national (so in the entire nation,
Nielsen estimates 3.9% of the households watched DC). That implies that DC
did very, very well in the smaller markets that make up the other 40% of
the country. Buffy had the exact opposite experience. Buffy also got a
3.3 overnight rating just like Dawson's Creek (so Nielsen estimates 3.3% of
the households in the top 40 TV markets covering about 60% of the nation
watched Buffy). But, as I mentioned above, it got only a 2.2 national (so
in the entire nation, Nielsen estimates 2.2% of the households watched
Buffy). That implies that Buffy did extremely -- and I mean extremely --
poorly in the smaller markets that make up the other 40% of the country.
Of course, there's another possibility that I'm open to, which is that
something wacky is going on with Nielsen's methods. But the fact that this
seems to occur week after week (although not as blatantly as last week)
would indicate that any possible explanation is not random sampling error
but some sort of systemic problem.
Here are the national household ratings for the last several Tuesday repeats:
September 1, Go Fish: 2.1
August 25, Passion: 1.9
August 18, Innocence: 2.1
For the Monday Buffy repeats:
August 31, Reptile Boy: 2.2
August 24, Bad Eggs: 2.4
August 17, Surprise: 2.3

There is a REALLY kewl one at http://www.freethemes.com There are also a
couple themes, including one with a Giles background. You have to do the
search, and then find it. When it comes up, it'll ask for the place
closest to you, so they can do a connection. Do *not* use tennessee.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work. I have one, and it's homemade, so it's not
perfect. But it's awesome!!

Ok, I'm watching Becoming part 1 right now, for the first time. A couple of
minutes ago, when Buffy and Willow first came to Giles to tell them the Ms.
Calendar restoration-of-angel's-soul thing, Xander was going off about how
Angel is a killer and he should be punished and all that and how Buffy wants
to overlook Ms. Calendar's murder to get her boyfriend back. Well, I totally
agree with him. I don't care if Angel will be sorry for Ms. Calendar's murder,
he still did it. And I don't think Buffy or Willow had any right to be mad.

Hello all. I have a small question. I bought the tapes today - which
are very nicely packaged and presented. However, since they are in the
same vein as the X-Files tapes (pre-interview / box set of 3 / etc.) I
was just wondering if they were going to be presented in either
Laserdisc (like the X-Files) or DVD formats in the future? I'm
confident someone on this list will be able to help me. Thanks for your
time. OH, and by my count, there are 13 episodes from the first 2 hour
season premiere (if you count the premiere as the now presented two -
part episode) - how will they present the next set since there are 7
episodes left for 3 tapes at 2 episodes / 1 tape. My suggesstion - make
a 4 tape set with the 4th tape being a "Behind the scenes / blooper"
tape - something definitely worth seeing!

Ok, I'll give you that (while I ignore the killing Xander part). But that
doesn't mean that she should get totally off for killing Ms. Calendar. The
demon would win in that aspect. They wouldn't be restoring Angel's soul as a
punishment, they'd be doing it so Buffy can continue with her little teen lust
thing for Angel (and yes, that's what it is. I know teenagers like to say that
when they'reinfatuated with someone that they are in love, but they really
aren't. I should know, I am a teenager. And what Buffy feels for Angel isn't
really love. Maybe if she spends more time with him it could be, but let's
face facts: what kind of a future could they have? What, is she going to be an
80-year old wrinkly old woman married to an eternally 18 year old vampire?). I
think the death of Ms. Calendar deserves some kind of vengeance. And since the
demon controlling Angel's body can't feel remorse, and restoring Angel's soul
wouldn't cause the demon to be punished, but in a sense punishing the real,
nice Angel (because he would feel so guilty), killing it would be the natural
recourse. Sorry for that run-on sentence.

If they do go this route, I hope they at least wait a year or two until
Buffy is out of high school. Although relationships between high school
girls and school officials certainly happen, I don't think I want to see
one on Buffy. Plus there'd probably be some pressure to have a Buffy/Giles
thing end badly if it occurred while she was still in high school and I
wouldn't want to see that.
Besides, if they do go with something like this in a year or two, I'd
prefer to see Giles and Willow together -- I see the two of them as kindred
spirits. With Buffy, I'd bet that Giles is a bit too professional as a
Watcher to let himself get involved with his Slayer and thus likely risk
her life, his life and other's lives too.

But the people the demon wants to kill and torment are a direct function of
actions that Angel took while he was in control.
I don't agree that it's as simple as you make it out to be. They're not
two totally different entities. The demon Angelus retains Angel's memories
and some of his personality traits, according to Giles. Thus, as Willow
pointed out, Angelus -- just like Angel -- does nothing but think of
Buffy. Unfortunately, he does nothing but think of how to torment her.
Angel's love for Buffy has become the demon's sick obsession with her.
In light of this, I believe that Angel deserves at least some indirect
blame for the actions of this second coming of Angelus. He knew that if
somehow, sometime, the curse was ever lifted, the demon would likely turn
on those he [Angel] had cared most about. Yet he allowed himself to become
friends with most of the gang and much more than friends with Buffy.
Hindsight is 20/20, but it was a poor choice on Angel's part.
But it was not really because of blame that I felt that -- before the
events of Becoming, Part 2 -- Angelus the demon should be killed, thus
killing Angel too. It was more that I felt that the death of Angel was
justified if it meant that the demon Angelus' reign of murder and general
terror would be stopped.

Angel is Angel, Angelus is the Demon, why can't people understand that?
Xander is a selfish, immature brat who can't see anything but his wants and
needs and the heck with what anyone else, specifically Angel and Buffy, want

Now if we could just convince Joss of this.....

So it's not just me that has been suspecting something is
growing? For evidence, I submit the latter scene from "Passion"
Giles: Why did you come here?! This wasn't your fight!
She punches him in the jaw, and he spins and falls to the pavement.
Buffy: Are you trying to get yourself killed?!
She begins to cry and crouches down to hug him. He cries and hugs
her back.
Buffy: You can't leave me. I can't do this alone.

There have been other hints that they are feeling something outside of
just a professional Slayer/Watcher relationship, but this is as blatent
as you can get without crossing the line into felony land. Wither goest
this star-crossed pair?
(Perhaps tea will become the "unrelationship beverage of choice"
in season 3???)

Subject: BUFFY: Joey & Dawson = Willow & Xander
It suddenly occurred to me that Joey and Dawson of Dawson's Creek and
Willow and Xander of Buffy the Vampire Slayer have lots in common. I
mean look at this:
1. Both Willow and Joey both grew up together with the boys they fell in
love with.
2. Both Willow and Joey are both taken by granted by their respective
loves. Xander took Willow for granted and Dawson did the same with Joey.
3. Both Dawson and Xander are stupid jerks in love with someone else:
Dawson with Jen and Xander with Cordelia.
4. We all know that sooner or later Joey and Dawson are going to get
together and that Xander and Willow will hook up.
Maybe it's not that big a deal but I found the similarities kinda cool.
I have a feeling we can gauge what will happen on one show by seeing what
happens on the other, they are both linked in some stwange, stwange,
stwange way.

Subject: BUFFY: Buffy Video (3-Pack) Dilemma
Just thought I'd share my tale of ill-fortune [step up to soap-box]...
Okay, so I'm heading out to my local Best Buy (Rancho Cucamonga, Southern
CA) to see if they have the 3-Pack on the shelves. Well, of course they
don't, but since they are the best value around I felt compelled to check
there first. No worries, right? Just check a different store and as
Blockbuster says, "Go home happy." Okay, so I check not one but two local
Blockbusters and they don't have it either. They didn't even order any
according to the sales people.
After 30 minutes and checking my best bets, I'm starting to get a little
anxious. Hopefully some place will carry my beloved Buffy (and more
important the two episodes I don't have on tape--Puppet Show and The Pack)
so I'm still calm. Next, it's off to the discount chain stores in my
city--Target and Wal-Mart. And of course, neither had it (but at least
Target had the Sophisticate's Hair Style Mag with SMG on the cover).
Another half-hour gone. Worse, rush-hour is starting so now I have to
fight traffic. By now, I've covered most of the places that even sell home
videos so I'm just not thinking, "where might they have Buffy," I'm
thinking, "where do they even sell videos?" A few more places dawned on
me. Long shots, yes, but still a possibility.
With that, I jet over to Price Costco. I remember that they had "I Know
What You Did Last Summer" on the first day it was out priced to own, so
maybe they have it. Alas, another disappointment. Another 30 minutes
gone. Since there's a Circuit City right there, I decide that I have
nothing to lose but more time (I'm at 1 hr, 30 mins now).
So walk into Circuit City and surprisingly none of the on-commission sales
people molest me as I browse the titles. I make it out of there and reach
an epiphiny. I can't believe that I hadn't gone there first...the Virgin
Megastore. The place has everything, but I'll give you one guess as to
what they do not have on this Tuesday, September 15th. Yes, no Buffy. And
worse, they don't even know anything about it.
Dejected, tired, and after parting with a good 2 and a half hours of my
life I come home, wondering where I'm going to get the tapes. I've had
HORRIBLE experiences with Reel.com and I've made it a point never to do
business with them again (mischarges, incorrect shipments, etc...basically
anything that can go wrong did). I looked at Buffystore.com and they are
charging too much ($40). So, if you've actually be reading this
exasperating tale, perhaps someone can tell me where the heck I could go.
(For you other So Cals, I'm near where the I-10 and the I-15 intersect in
the Rancho Cucamonga/Ontario area.)
I never thought Buffy was going to be this hard to find.
(Sorry list-owners, for taking up so much space. Hope this doesn't get
blocked, otherwise I can add another half-hour of time wasted today on the
Buffy videos...)

<ANGEL didn't kill Ms Calendar... the DEMON did.... two totally different
entities who happen to share the same body>
So I guess you wouldn't mind having a schizophrenic around all the time
with one sweet and one murderous personality?
Xander was the only one with enough of a clue to recognize Angel for the
ticking time bomb he turned out to be...

Subject: BUFFY: Xander's Angel Speech
I am not going to quote anyone previous post because I don't feel like
it. My .02 is that Xander does not have the same sense of justice as the
Gypsies did. He wanted Angelus to pay for what he did. Yes, I used the
name Angelus when I refer to the bad one. Xander never liked Angel to
begin with but started to trust and respect him before he changed. After
he changed, Xander just wanted him to pay for what Angelus did. Even
though that meant eliminating Angel, too. So, please don't pick on
Xander to much for having a genuine emotion for revenge. Be mad because
he upset Buffy, be mad because he lied, but don't hate him for hating
Angelus.
