  52. It's been a little while since I've posted, but I wanted to contribute to this
  53. spin-off topic.  First, will the spin-off air at the same time as the show, or
  54. will it follow after Buffy's done? (I'm talking seasons, not actual air
  55. hours.)  This would mean that  Buffy will only be through a 3rd season, and
  56. then the spin-off would replace it.  I personally think it's a terrible idea.
  57. BtVS is a clever, witty, original, awesome show that ought to stand alone, as
  58. itself, not the basis for a spin-off which might be of a lower quality and
  59. have a kind of "watered down" plot (possibly).  What would it be about? I'm
  60. thinking that it wouldn't be about one of the main characters b/c as much as
  61. I'd love to see a show all about Xander, it would have to involve the other
  62. main characters, and would therefore be too close to the original, and I'm not
  63. sure if spin-offs include some characters from the original show.  (I'm really
  64. spin-off ignorant, but if it could, the show could involve his years @
  65. college.........or just a show where each ep focuses on one main character at
  66. college or its equivalent and continues its cycle or something.)
  67. The only possibilities I can think of for new shows would involve Angel b/c it
  68. could be a show that could delve into his past, and since (if he's not staked)
  69. he's gonna live forever, there isn't a limit to how far in the future it could
  70. take place (if the show continued for awhile, although after some time we'd
  71. notice differences in him.)  Another possibility would be about the vampires,
  72. but I don't really think that would fly.........it would probably have a much
  73. darker tone, and might lack originality after some eps.  One of the aspects I
  74. love most about Buffy is that it doesn't focus completely on vamps.....that
  75. could become boring and repetitive......a show all about vampires could have
  76. potential but wouldn't please as wide a range of people nor would it follow up
  77. on the groovy "high school as hell" idea or any other metaphors of teen angst.
  78. (Although Buffy is entertaining and awesome even w/out looking for deeper
  79. meanings or messages.)
  80. In conclusion..........I don't really have a conclusion.......but I really
  81. don't think a spin-off would be a good idea.  However, w/ Joss behind
  82. it.......I'd watch...but as of now the idea just doesn't appeal to me.

  108. As for a Buffy spin-off I can't think of any that would work but my favorite
  109. idea is one focused on Spike and Dru. I know it wouldn't work! But them being
  110. the bad guys and everything I'm pretty sure they're going to bite it soon and
  111. I will miss them WAAAAAAYYYYYY more than Jenny! If they made a spin-off I
  112. could keep them. She's nuts and he's such a bad boy! It's attractive.

  158.     I've been reading several messages here about the movie IKWYDLS. 
  159. I have to confess I was green with envy of all Buffy's fans ( please
  160. read Sarah's fans) in the U.S. I mean, I had to wait almost 6, yeah,
  161. man, 6 months to be able to see the film here in Brazil. I just like to
  162. let you know that the movie premiere here in Brazil was yesterday,
  163. Friday, March 27th. 
  164.     So, me and my sister went to the movies this Saturday afternoon and we
  165. watched it 3 times. Now I really know what you were talking about. 
  166.     Sarah is fantastic! I guess the magic touch of IWYDLS is Sarah's role.
  167. In the beginning I was hit by a strange feeling...I mean, I was used to
  168. watch her behaving as Buffy but in the film she is so fragile and
  169. feminine...!
  170.     I really felt sorry for Helen being killed. I've noticed how Sarah's
  171. character changed thoughout the film. She realizes how different she was
  172. from the year before ( when she won the beauty contest )from the
  173. following year when she is sitting on a chair on the stage and she sees
  174. the murderer on the balcony. 
  175.     I also loved the sad image when she " is running for her life " (
  176. Sarah's words ) in the dark alley mixed with the sight of fireworks and
  177. the 4th of July Parade.
  178.     I am new fellow here so please tell me if I need to write Spoiler when
  179. I describe or talk about movie scenes. I guess I should do that only if
  180. I am talking about a new material, is that right?

  298. interesting and not as many people would watch.  If you want realistic,
  299. turn off the tv.

  301. I agree that not a lot of teens talk the way the characters on DC talk,
  302. but the stories are interesting, like the Buffy shows are.  Both shows
  303. bring up IDEAS and EMOTIONS that are 110% real.

  325. Sorry about blowing up a little on my last post there. I just got turned down
  326. from a couple colleges I really thought I had a chance at...but that's neither

  329. the need to argue or agree with me. And anyone who thought I was being
  330. sarcastic when I stated that I thought Buffy was more realistic than DC- I

  332. the cover? I naturally bought, though my natural teen hormonal responses had
  333. absolutely, positively nothing to do with it. I bought it just for the
  334. article. Really. But, laying off the sarcasm for a bit, I learned a lot about
  335. SMG that I previously hadn't. Now they just need to do the rest of the cast...

  421. Gotta jump in here. While Sarah is by no means a BAD fighter, the 
  422. majority of those fight scenes are done by Sophia, not Sarah.  Look 
  423. carefully and sometimes you'll actually be able to tell when it's 
  424. Sophia on camera.  Jeff (Jeff Pruitt, Stunt Coordinator) has praised 
  425. Sarah for the wonderful work she does, but we ought to give  Sophia 
  426. the credit she deserves  :)

  612. wondering how or pondering if you will, the idea of Angel literally being
  613. the master next season. There has been rumors circulating about a new
  614. master. I for one, would not be pleased and find it rather stale and

  637. Several listmembers have posted about this already, and now I'm going to
  638. step in.

  640. I posted on the issue of Dawson's Creek several weeks ago, and gently
  641. reminded people that they could talk about that show, but ONLY in the
  642. context of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  Lately the DC posts have been only
  643. extremely remotely related to Buffy the Vampire Slayer and it's got to
  644. stop.  Buffy should be the MAIN emphasis of your post if it includes any
  645. other subject, not an afterthought.  With nearly 1000 subscribers we all
  646. have an obligation to keep this list on topic, and Jill, Lisa Rose and I
  647. will do whatever we think is necessary to ensure that.  
  648.  
  649. But all of you have to do your part as well--this list is only as good as
  650. the people posting to it.  So REREAD your post before you send it.  If it's
  651. almost completely about Dawson's Creek then use a little common sense and
  652. don't send it.  There are other forums where you can discuss DC.
  653.  
  654. This is not to say there isn't room for comparing and contrasting the two
  655. shows here on this list, because I think some interesting discussion have
  656. and can be had about the two shows.  Just remember that the main focus of
  657. this list is Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  If you feel the topics are
  658. straying, PLEASE do not write to the entire list about it.  Contact me or
  659. Jill--nine times out of ten we've already dealt with it privately.
