Mia,
I see three problems with this.
1) As Mary astutely observed, we don't *know* what Angel was like
before. If the persona he presented to Buffy was any indication of his
nature, then he's a gentle, compassionate soul, hardly a "mind-raper" or
a "woman-exploiter." His (actually, the demon's) evil behavior is more
than adequately explained by the evil nature of demons, and Occam's
razor demands no additional explanations based on Angel's intrinsic
character.
It's a vacuous proof that would apply to absolutely anyone, because the
body of absolutely anyone would start committing murder if inhabited by
a demon. Again, the evidence we have is that Angel's soul is gentle.
2) There *is* this problem of pronouns that automatically confuses the
issue. When you say, "he's changed," that's wrong. He's banished, and
something else takes up residence in his body. Maybe it has access to
his memories, but if someone who reads *your* autobiography decides to
become a serial murderer, are you responsible? *You* are not
responsible for someone who rapes you of your memories and uses them for
evil. We ought never to blame the victim.
3) What you're saying is still that Angel is responsible for what
someone else did who was "wearing his shirt" (and who had "read his
autobiography"). I disagree. I think he really shouldn't.

When I read this, it really reminded me of Darth Vader from Star Wars. I know
that Buffy doesn't really relate to Star Wars like we discussed earlier. I'm
not even a Star Wars fanatic, but the whole, "Angel was killed by Angelus"
reminds me of Yoda telling Luke kywalker that Darth Vader killed his father.
So maybe it's a lot like that, kinda on a metaphysical level.

That's true, and I believe that Giles will get back together with Jenny.
But, I think the situation is a little different. During Dark Ages
something from
Giles past comes back to haunt him and does harm Jenny by accident. This
was something that Giles thought was long gone and dead. It doesn't have
anything to do with the man he is now. On the other hand the entire reason
that Jenny was in town and came into Giles and Buffy's life was to spy on
Angel. So her entire life in
Sunnydale had been a lie. So I think it might take Giles a little longer to
forgive her.

Bad Eggs (1/12/98) finished 94th in the national weekly ratings with an
estimated 6.5 million viewers. This puts it ahead of everthing else on the
WB, all of UPN,and Cracker on ABC. It was tied with Nothing Sacred (ABC),
beat the last couple of minutes of the NHL all star game (FOX) and was just
behind Millennium(FOX).
For those of you wondering about sweeps, three times durring the year
(FEB,MAY,NOV), extensive tv-watching diaries are done by local viewers for
four weeks. This is used to determine local station advertising rates so the
networks tend to use their best shows then and usually run new episodes

This is just speculation on my part, on how they might return
Angel to his sweet old self.
1) Easy way is to get Jenny or Amy to find a way to curse him
again.
2) Some big expression of Love for Angel will cause his soul to
return.
3) Could be tied into above. But, a take off on last years season finale.
Angel it appears kill Buffy, but those crazy gypsies made it so the curse
would return after Angel killed the person responsible for his happiness. Thus
causing him greater torture, but like in PG, Buffy would be revived.

It's part of her anti-vampire gear, and I presume that she put it aside and
stopped wearing it when she started dating Angel, to avoid hurting him. Seeing
it now, afer Angel had rejected her, probably symbolized to her that she can
never really "put aside" her role as the slayer and find happiness, certainly
not in the arms of a vampire. (I don't remember exactly when she saw it, but
if it was after she knew he'd turned evil, it would also symbolize that her
duty is to slay him.)

But sometimes Angel/Angelus DO consider themselves the same person.
Angelus says about Buffy: "She made me feel like a human being. That's
not the kind of thing you just forgive." She made ME feel like a human
being. And Angel did talk about the pre-curse Angelus' crimes in the first
person. Didn't he say about Drusilla "I drove her insane, I made her into a
vampire", things like that? Angel did seem to act more like a cured
psychopathic killer, someone remembering the crimes he committed in a
mental state he no longer feels, than like someone who was shoved into
the body of a psychopathic killer and has his memories. So it may feel to
Angel/Angelus, at least at times, that they were the same person, just
feeling differently about things, not two different people. "Your boyfriend
is dead" could be a matter of emphasis, not literal truth.
The Watchers' "party line" on vampires is that when a person is vamped,
they're dead; it's just a demon using their body/memories. That does
makes sense for the Watchers to believe; it's easier to kill a vamped
friend (like Jesse in The Harvest) if you believe your friend is already
dead, and you're just killing the demon.
The vampires' "party line" is presumably that the vampire is the SAME
person. That's how they'd get new recruits; the vampires would want
them to believe that they'll become immortal, not that they'll die and
have their bodies used by a demon. The gypsies may believe the same
thing; that explains their curse on Angelus. They believe Angel is the
same person as Angelus, just with a soul so that he will suffer remorse
for the crimes he committed as Angelus.
I don't know if it's definite which view is more correct. It could even be a
matter of definition: here's the soul, here's the memories, here's some
personality, plus there's a demon, and which combinations are the SAME
person depend on your view. Like Grandfather's Axe ("This is my
grandfather's axe, but I had to replace the handle... and the blade.").
The best witness to the TRUE situation is probably Angel/Angelus,
and I guess you can quote him either way.

That would be an ironic plotline. Spike gets very jealous of
Angel: Angel takes over leadership of the vampires from Spike,
Angel's better in bed with Drusilla than Spike, etc., but Angel's
too physically formidable for Spike to actually kill. So Spike
arranges to restore Angel's soul, so he's a less dangerous
adversary. Or Spike even works WITH Buffy to restore
Angel's soul.

I think it's something even worse than that. IMO Buffy is being hit with 2
horrible situations at once, as it regards Angel.
First (and setting the vampire stuff aside for a minute), the man she loves
has gone bad -- extremely bad -- and he hurt her terribly. Like anyone else
in this position, she knows that he's no good and she has no intention of
being 'in love' with him anymore. But you can't turn love off when you want
to like a light switch. No matter how deep the pain, no matter how bad the
person is, it will take time for those feelings of love towards *her* Angel
to go away. It will wear off, but it will take time. And she knows it.
When Angelus said to her "you can't kill me". She just kicked him where it
counts and said "Give me time".
Secondly, she's the Slayer. It's her job to kill vampires. Angelus is a
vampire. And a bad one at that. It's hard enough to let the love wear off
without also having to deal with the fact that it's also your job to kill
the person that you're trying to learn to hate.
Talk about a double whammy!

I don't want to sound rude or anything, but don't you think that maybe
the cast isn't allowed to give away major secrets like this? I mean, if
someone talked to SMG last year, do you think she would have told that
Angel is a vampire? Or its possible that Aly might not have known about
his lycanthropic problem, since I believe that the episode was shot
within the past month. didn't someone say that their friend was an

Subject: BUFFY: Oz as werewolf -Spoiler- possible
About Oz being a werewolf - lines of possible spoiler space.
Oz, is not a vampire. Two reasons, first, someone talked to Alyson and she
said that he wasn't a werewolf. Second, the werewolf is in this episode and
this episode only, there fore it would be impossible for Oz to continue being
in the show as Joss said he would. (several weeks ago on the boards he said Oz
would be in some future episodes and that was after they finished filming
Phases. So, sorry, but I don't see how he could be the werewolf.
Those of you asking how I know the werewolf will be in this episode only?
Well, it's just logic. Joss has introduced many new characters to the show
recently and letting them all be in a couple of episodes (example: two-parter)
This ep won't be a two-parter and so there shouldn't be any reason for there
to be another lost character introduced to the show. Such as: Shelia, Lyle,
Marcy, etc. People that come on the show, but don't die leaving us unclear as
to whether they are coming back or not.
Oh well, thats all for now.
By the way, I need some fan fiction for my web page and spoilers for my page.
If you want you fan fic to be published on my web page for a week let me know.

another note, I've more or less (mostly more) obsessing over thsi ep.
