There's some kids at my school with the name Xander and there is a small town here in California called Cordelia. In an assignment for English class we got this worksheet where we had to put the right names in the story and one of the names was Buffy. But I changed the name to Boffy (cuz of Cracked magazine) because I didn't want a wild animal (can't remember which kind) named Buffy. Also, my friend is dating a guy named Angel.

I always assumed that the "Bride of Darylstein" would have Cordelia's brain, and thus would be Cordelia with several other girls' body parts.
What I believe Chris and his friend (can't remember his name) were thinking was that their new creation would be put in the same position as Daryl was: cut off from real-world contact due to their grisly natures. The new companion for Daryl would have no recourse but to be eternally lonely, or to share in the horror that is both hers and Daryl's existence.

For some reason, that doesn't scan for me. Angel strikes me as one of those apolitical immortal types. You know, like lots of Highlander immies who have been around so many centuries, who have seen so many people manipulated and used by hypemasters, that they are politically jaded and virtually immune to the rhetoric of both the Left and the Right. (although there was that Irish "Annie" immie who maintained her IRA allegiance for scores of years).
I can picture Angel picking up a Limbaugh book and laughing, saying "Yeah, I knew a guy like this in 1842. He made a bundle.
They're all pretty much the same." Then he sees Bill Clinton on TV and says "Oh sure, he says he's a friend of the common people, whatever it takes to maintain control over them."
Just seems to me that Angel would regard the whole political scene as a big joke.

That's really kind of my point. (Psst. Don't tell anybody, but I think we agree on this.)
Buffy, despite her faults, possesses a powerful instinct for rightness.
I may be reaching here, but it always kinda seems that whereas others are disgusted by the sheer ick-factor of typical Hellmouth situations, Buffy is more repelled by the moral aspects. SAR is a good example of this, though I admit I can't really put my finger on what, specifically, I'm talking about. It's like she's disgusted by this horrible thing, not because it's disgusting, but because it's horrible. (Was that a sentence?)
In "Ted," we got to see a decidedly non-supernatural extension of that.
When Detective Stein asked what happened, Buffy told him. The whole truth, instinctively. As you point out, she didn't decide to do it; she just did it. Others in her situation, especially your average teenager, might well have instinctively lied about it, only to suffer from guilt later.

Does anyone think that Xander could still love Cordelia after her "operation"? What if things had happened differently? And alternative scenario below:
Fraught with guilt over not saving Cordelia during the blaze, Xander later discovers that Daryl continued his brother's work (he's picked up on a lot, here and there), and that Cordelia has indeed become the "Barbie from Hell". Xander, Buffy and the other Slayerettes finally dispatch Daryl, and retrieve their patchwork May Queen, but the question remains, will things ever be the same?
I don't even want to think about trips to the utility closet. (Of course, technically, SAR *was* before WML1+2, but as we all know, something was still definitely brewing between X/C long beforehand.)

I think the most important thing about this attitude, while it does have something to do with age, is the fact the Angel knows there are larger forces at work. What the politicians etc. don't know (I hope) is that there are vampires and other demons in the world who can bring about such apocalyptical cataclysms that their political maneuverings could be torn asunder if the Slayer slipped up in her duty. Sure, "politics is power" in a world without supernatural, mystical or magical factors, or rather, in a world that is largely unaware of such things. Angel knows what's important, and that everything about the world he knows could change at the drop of a penny. *That's* where the real prioritizing begins.
As far as Angel engagin in politics? Well, besides all the previously stated reasons why he disdains this activity, Angel lives in an environment in which he constantly battles against people and things that put his life in danger. He's a vampire with a soul, and thus an enemy of all vampires and most likely other "creatures of the night". He might be immortal, but nobody said he was going to live forever. Politics isn't going to do him much good if he's nothing but dust in the wind (unless of course he's some sort of delusional visionary).

Of course whoever accepts this burden must immediately point it out to the entire list and face the onslaught of requests for copies!!!
It looks like there must be a hundred or so in this box and they are from all over the country (apparently all the markets sent copies to our Publicity department for review or something...)

I guess I didn't make myself clear enough. I meant that after his first wife died (whether he killed her or she died from something else is unclear), Ted would search for only women that looked like his first wife. When he killed these women, he would pretend (or be crazy enough to believe) that they were his first wife. By killing numerous women that looked like his wife, it was as if he was making his wife suffer over and over. Thus, the psycho-factor.
As far as how he actually killed them, my guess is that he killed them and stuck the body (or body parts) into the closet, the Bluebeard approach. It's possible that he could have just locked them in there, like you said and let them suffer till death, I dunno.

I guess I'm balking at the "he killed them" concept. He didn't want
them dead, he wanted them married to him, as near as I can make out.
I think he made them live some horrible travesty of married life until
they died of natural causes compounded by neglect.
Or, hmmm, maybe until they aged enough to *not* remind him of his dead
wife??? Then "Who are you and what have you done with my wife!!???"
It's very creepy no matter how you slice it.

Excuse me if someone has already mentioned this, but Charles I of England had an uncle, Prince Rupert of the Rhine, who was a popular general on the royalist side in the English Civil War of the mid-seventeenth century. Many members of the British upper classes began naming their sons "Rupert" in his honor which is how what is basically a German name came to be in use in Britain.
