  220. Incidentally, the thing about horses and zebras is something medical
  221. students are taught - if someone comes in complaining of a runny nose and
  222. sore throat, the more likely diagnosis is not South American Sleeping
  223. Sickness transmitted by vampire bats :)  but, rather, a common cold.  I
  224. notice that someone else has explained the idea quite nicely.

  226. Oh, and just 'cause someone's a Christian (like me, too, BTW, so no angry

  285. thought I post there and on the other Buffy lists, and there is a small
  286. picture but it's the oft used one of him and SMG with the Vampyre Book:

  291. Terrible things may happen in the world of Buffy the Vampire Slayer
  292. (Mondays, 9 p.m./ET, WB), but according to costar Anthony Stewart Head,
  293. what happens on the set of the hit series is frighteningly harmonious. 
  294. "They're really a nice bunch of people," Head says of Sarah Michelle
  295. Gellar and her ghoul-getting pals. "You always hear this thing like, 'Oh,
  296. we're like a family,' but it really is true -- we all hang out together.
  297. Nicky [Nicholas Brendon, who plays Xander] has a rocking chair outside his
  298. trailer and we all end up sitting out there. We kinda gravitate to each
  299. other's trailers and just hang out. It's pretty cool."  The self-effacing
  300. British actor, perhaps best known for his work on those long-running
  301. Taster's Choice ads, tells us he passed on a part in Poltergeist: The
  302. Legacy because he instinctively understood his role as Buffy's brainy
  303. vampire authority. "I had a pretty good handle on the part from the
  304. beginning," says Head, who brings a dry, understated sense of comedy to
  305. his scholarly character. "I went in to [the producers] saying, 'This can
  306. be somewhere between Hugh Grant and Alan Rickman; where do you want it?'
  307. And they said, 'Well, maybe in the middle,' and I thought, 'Well, that
  308. does it, really.' At his strongest, Giles is Alan Rickman and at his
  309. weakest, Hugh Grant." Although he promises some upcoming surprises
  310. involving his character, he's not quite sure what they are. "Giles isn't
  311. what he seems by any means. He's hiding a dark, dark past," Head says.
  312. "When I was told that in episode eight my dark past was gonna be revealed,
  313. I said, 'Well, what is it? Tell me.' And they went, 'No, no, no,' because
  314. they knew that I would immediately start to play that. There would be some
  315. little undertone in there, like, 'Ooh -- something new to play with.' " --

  365. Actually they sort of do: every Saint has his own feast day, often
  366. the anniversary of his or her death.  Practically every day of the
  367.  year is a feast day for someone.  Now whether or not it is
  368.  celebrated as an extra-special feast is a different matter.
  369.  St. Patrick's Day is ignored in Italy, just as St. Joseph's
  370.  Day is no big deal in Ireland.  St. Nicholas' Day is dutifully
  371.  toned down everywhere because it coincides with Christmas.

  373. But actually, I was leaning toward the explanation that
  374. the terms "Saint, " "Crusade," and "Feast" were all from
  375. the vampire's point of view, and ironic.  The vampires
  376. can declare any day that they wish a feast, just as they
  377. can refer to any one as "saint."

  380.  "Christ" is "Annointed One."   Seems like the vampires
  381.  have their own parallel order in religion as well.

  459. I like this theory.  The AO can been seen as such in this context:
  460. He came to change the ways of the Vampires- in a way that somewhat
  461. retained tradition but brought a new light to the old laws (rites,
  462. whatever)- but his time was short, and his presence soon created
  463. different sects (those who wanted to cling to the old, those who went
  464. with his teaching, those who abhorred his ways) until he was betrayed by
  465. one who not supposed to be his enemy- and soon after was killed.
  466.  
  467. I know this is stretching it, but I like the correlations.
  468. ANyhow, I wonder if the Annointed One will return...... who knows.
  469. And more importantly- I wonder if Spike will ever be tried for his
  470. crime, by the sects of Vampires who still hold to the old ways.....

  499. I thought about this also after the events in PG, Buffy says something like
  500. "one slayer dies the next one is called".  Then she ask Giles if he will
  501. train her.  Which would make you believe that becoming a slayer is something
  502. of a mystical lottery.  That another girl is chosen upon the death of the
  503. present slayer.  Thus, a slayer is always around to battle evil.  But, IIRC
  504. in the WttHM, Giles himself said something to the effect "for each
  505. generation a slayer is born, yadda, yadda".  This would give support to the
  506. theory that Buffy was born as the Slayer.  The movie of course which isn't
  507. gospel, said that For each generation a slayer is Born, and it was always
  508. the same soul.  Upon her death she would be reborn almost moments after ,
  509. and grow up with becoming the slayer as her destiny.  But, with Buffy's
  510. remarks in PG, it would seem that
  511. Joss wants to lend toward the mystical lottery side.

  839. Louis routine, but most of them are just Undead Legions of Doom and
  840. Darkness, and, heck, I like 'em like that!  I think they're far more
  841. effective as villians that way, like the Borg were in their pre-Hugh
  842. days.  (Oh, God.  Not Hugh!  NOOOOOOOO!!!!)

  1048. Now, I really must say that I am somewhat perturbed at which way
  1049. Xander's character is going. Why in the world, when he has beauty and
  1050. smarts right in front of him, must he continually make a mockery of it?
  1051. Willow loves Xander, Xander thinks of Willow as a friend, BUT, does he
  1052. have to use her friendship like a water faucet? It really irritated the
  1053. crud out of me that he is so blatantly uncool about the whole boy/girl
  1054. thing. Anyhow, other than that, it was a pretty good episode. Best line
  1055. in the whole show though was -

  1117. Loved this episode. I loved the way Oz (Seth Green) looked at Willow! I
  1118. hope him and Willow get together!! Joss and Gang truly did an impressive
  1119. job with this one. Xander was so brave. Willow looked so beautiful whatever
  1120. she wore. Her beauty was radiating with her smile among many things. One
  1121. thing missing in this episode: Angel. Is that good or bad? I can't really
  1122. say what my favorite parts are because I loved every bit! Especially the
  1123. costume party. Xander line about girls running away was classic. I think he
  1124. feared that the IMG would run away from him like some others. But she truly
  1125. did love him with all her heart as did he. Even Buffy felt for the girl at
  1126. the end as she talked about the prophecy and how she thought she was going
  1127. to die.

  1129. Next weeks episode The Reptile Boy looks really good. Buffy and Cordelia
  1130. are shown chained up to a wall. Some kind of sacrifice thing. It looks good
  1131. also.

  1133. Did you guys see the Buffy The Vampire Slayer 1-800-COLLECT Commercial? The
  1134. contest looks great and the prizes are not to shaby either *grin* I think
  1135. one of them was a spot of the show to be staked or a bit part....that would

  1270. deprived of a normal life and all that.  She really did seem to love Xander
  1271. (then again that whole sucking the life out of people might put a strain on
  1272. the relationship).

  1274.      Loved Willow's costume.  I wonder if that Oz guy from the band is gonna
  1275. be the new
  1276. guy for Willow.  She should have someone who appreciates her.  He seemed like
  1277.  a pretty nice, normal guy.  Hey, at least he doesn't go cutting up the
  1278. bodies of dead girls!

  1280.      Xander is again doomed in his love life.  Poor guy.  First attacked by a
  1281. giant bug and now an ancient shriveled up corpse.
