All right- just a few quick IMHO's and observations:
1. Did anyone notice how Buffy and Xander were always togther in this ep.
They walked in on Giles in the library together- without Willow. This
seemed odd- I mean, I've seen Willow and Xander, Willow and Buffy, but
I can't remember Xander and Buffy ever being alone without Willow. Then
when they all came into the liobary after the BYO shovel party down in the
graveyard and Angel and Cordy were there did anyone else notice how Xander
and Buffy were standing together. it was almost as if they were a couple
or something.
2. I was hysterical laughing at Xander's face when he went "Angel" to
Buffy's mention of him regarding the opening scene. It was just adorable
and hysterical
3. What the hell was Cordelia trying to do, anchoring her arm on Angel
like he was her possesion. She was so obviously making a play for him.
Loved Buffy's face when she asked him to take her home.
4. Loved the opening scene with Angel's jealousy over Xander. Especially
loved Buffy calling him on calling Xander a child and asking what that
made her. Go Buffy- don't let him put you down.
Gotta bounce or I'll get fired from my job (this list always makes me late
for work- just can't tear myself away)

I've been thinking about this. Lisa Rose proposed a great alternative to
the ending that we got, which was frankly most predictable as many have
noted. SAR is really a half-hearted adaptation of Frankenstein. If they
were going to do it, I would rather have seen it through the novel's
conclusion with the creation destroying its creator then wandering off to
die himself. But it seems like Chris has been positioned as a gentleman
caller for Willow. The choice of having Daryl throw himself on a pile of
burning dead girls was really weak, since up til then he didn't seem that
irrational (as much as one can be rational whilst trying to take a meat
cleaver to Cordelia's neck). Also, Buffy did pontificate in the annoying
way that the characters pontificated in Teacher's Pet, with which this
episode shares certain similarities. I think Anime Nut and Jen Hawthorne
on planet-X have really articulated my growing discontent with this
particular episode.
As was pointed out to me last night, our expectations of the show are
becoming unrealistically high. I mean, does each episode really need to
the top the last? I'm willing to let a few clunkers pass if at least a
couple of eps this season are of the caliber of the Pack or Puppet Show
(which I guess, we really won't know until the season's over). I'm very
excited about next week's previews. Spike and Drusilla look like a
toothsome pair.

I've been watching it over and over again too... there's too much of a pause
between made ... and it... that is if you're a good lipreader. If one
was to say mated...you would pushed the ay sound against the ed but if you
said made it you would push the ay sound against the it sound/word so if
anyone said made-it really fast it would come out as mated. The two
differences are too close in sound so I turned the sound off to concentrate
on the lips. Guess we'll never know for sure. Either way is fine with me.

Now turn the lines around. Even though Xander was speaking the same
lines work from Willow to Xander:
[You] never go for the one right in front of you [namely me, Willow].
You have to go for the mysterious one you can't have [Buffy]. >>
And to jump across episodes and across seasons, did anyone get the feeling
that some of this reasoning applied to Marci in Invisible Girl?
I mean, here is this girl who is miserable because no one notices her and she
has no friends. _Except_ that who is she trying to be friends with? She's
pursuing Cordelia & Co., presumably not because she likes them, but because
they're the in-crowd. She complains and goes insane because they're so
shallow and they ignore her, but in the meantime she, too, is using
popularity as her sole criterion in choosing (potential) friends.
I mean, hey, Xander and Willow didn't remember her, but I'll bet if she
pursued Willow's friendship the way she pursued Cordelia's, Willow would've
been receptive.

The problem with Xander being cool is that we have not been shown how
this came to be... in PG he was shut down- heartbroken... in WSWB he was
still at a loss- although we were getting a hint of a sharper- more
aggressive Xander (except of course for that first scene with Willow).
While I tend to think that perhaps Xander puts on this "strong" veneer
for Buffy's sake <the "i dealt with it- I don't need you either"
defense> I still think that he has lost a lot of humanity in the
process. And I miss the way he used to smile when he said his jokes.
He never does anymore- he doesn't smirk- he just delivers his line and
stands there. I'm not saying he's a bad character now- I just think
this drastic change in interpretation is alienating.

Ob Buffy: I like Xander's new looks but there are those who prefer his old
looks. I think his new looks show what he has gone thru in the first
season--he's matured alot and it shows. He's also found a direction whereas
he was lost before. I think he's going to be a vampire hunter. When are we
gonna see those? Luke in the pilot said that no one has escaped him before
except for one in Madrid and he said "he" so there are vampire hunters
around. I'd like to see some on the show, especially one going after Angel.

Hi, this is Vampyrslay@aol.com back with a new name. I was having major
problems with the screen name and some harassing, annoying e-mail, so I
deleted it. But I couldn't stay away and I decided to try again with a new
name. If you've never heard of me, that's okay, I was kind of a lurker

Anyway, back to Buffy:
awagster@linknet.kitsap.lib.wa.us (Andrew Wagster) said:
<<Buffy says something to the effect of "It'll be sunrise soon". Now, uh, I
don't know how any of the other high schools work, but *our* football games
usually start at seven or so, and the game wasn't over when Buffy went to
save Cordelia. So did the emergency vehicles just take a *really* long time
to get to the science lab, or what?>>
I didn't notice that but, its funny. One possible explanation is that Buffy
and Angel had been walking around for a really long time, after the fire, and
so at the end, it really was near dawn.

Although, this isn't the first time she's been physically bested
by her opponents. "The Three" overpowered her in "Angel" and would
have killed her had Angel not intervened. Of course, that was
THREE powerful and ancient warrior vampires, not a single stitched-up
dead human guy with pieces of erector set sticking out of his forearms.
BTW, for those who wonder about Angel's strength, that scene was also
probably his most physically powerful moment to date (and one of his
*sexiest* too!).
Maybe *Buffy* should have shoveled those graves in SAR to get
her strength back up. Don't you figure she could have done it
in a couple minutes, on par perhaps with a backhoe, and spared the
boys their blisters?

Howdy,
Well, the dialog was terrific, but I had a little difficulty with the line
just before they were about to shorten Cordelia: "soon you'll have the
body of a 17 year old". The humor is obviously, well, she ALREADY has the
body of a 17 year old (well, in the script she does, {and, I am compelled
to add, is by and large in NO need of improvement, much less replacement,
well, maybe she could gain a little weight, but that's just my tastes}),
but I suppose the boys just sort of lost the focus of what they were trying
to do. There just didn't seem to be a clear purpose to the horror. Not
that purposeless mayhem isn't especially horrible.
"Mom" wins my award for the most traumatic image in the episode. Truely
gruesome. Will the real zombie please stand up? Well, maybe that
shouldn't be encouraged...
I hope we don't see any more "enter Angel, rushed, stage left, pauses to
catch breath" scenes; if they must resolve a romantic plot line, they can
just have him lurking mysteriously at the edge of the red light from the
firetruck flash, staring meaningfully. After all, haven't we already
accepted that Angel ALWAYS knows where Buffy is?
By the way, thanks for the reminders about the coolest lines, I seem to
have missed at least two of them... I'll have to watch it again. And
again. Like the episode takes on new life... (Sorry, Lisa's evil language
play musn't go unpunished)

Ok, ladies and gents. Here=92s the scenario. I, Jilbert hate Monday night
TV. Picture this if you can. I am a loyal Buffy lover..but I=92m also a
loyal Caroline in the City lover. And these two wonderful shows are both
on the same night at the same time!! My conclusion: I ran around the
house last night, in desperate need of two TV=92s complete with VCR=92s
and started taping both shows. I went completely crazy! Buffy in my
room, Caroline in the living room with little bits of Ally McBeal in
between commercial breaks. I didn=92t even get to see Forever Knight! I
said it before and I=92ll say it again... I hate Monday night
TV.
But onto more important matters like last night=92s Buffy episode-=94Some
Assembly Required=94. Ok, this episode was weird in the sense that
everyone was trying to get into witty moods. From the beginning with
Buffy and Angel bickering at each other to Giles sarcastically
comforting Coredelia. I was like, come on guys you can be witty but not
pathetically witty! That=92s Xander=92s job and personally in this episod=
e
Xander had the lesser wit of all of them. It was like they were trying
hard to make us laugh. And then there=92s that Chris dude, with eyebrows
that look like woolly-bear caterpillars and let=92s not forget his
brother, the monster that is down in the basement awaiting a girlfriend.
Atfirst I said =93This has got to be the most campiest, stupidest idea fo=
r
the show.=94 There were too many similarities to a certain Mary Shelley
novel which I forgot the title, it=92s ...um....oh,darn it!
But yet as I watched, the episode grew on me. Daryl being brought back
from the dead by a loving brother only in the end to die in the agony of
his craving for love and a new life was very dramatic in a sense.=20
Seeing Giles and =93Please call me Jenny=94 Calendar on a date was cute b=
ut
I thought the romantic tones of the episode belonged to Buffy and
Angel. Their walk in the cemetery was bittersweet. =93He gets to see you
in the sunlight.=94 was the best darn line said by Angel so far! Gosh did
it give me a ping to the heart! PING! Also I know there=92s probably
going to be complaints and taunts about how come Angel wasn=92t wearing
black. (check my character bad and good points) My theory is that
I think he was dressed differently because he wanted to seem more human
for Buffy. So maybe she=92d get her eyes off a certain =93junior high boy=

she danced with. And BRAVO to the triumphant vocal chords of Chris=92s
friend, Eric. =93My Girl=94 never sounded better.
(She joked!)
My character comments~=20
Buffy~Too sadistic for your own good. I thought your bitchiness was last
week problem. Please remember Sarah that your BUFFY the nice, kind,
considerate, slayer NOT Kendrall from AMC. Nice Buffy...Good Buffy.
Xander~ IT=92S SUPERXANDER TO THE RESCUE! Jumping in and saving Cordelia
from the arms of a mad jockey strap. How dashing! How daring! How sauve!
Yum..But where was that wit? That boyish charm that makes my heart
swoon? Did you run out of Chocolate Hurricanes or something and can=92t
think? Umm..maybe you should try something eles, like perhaps...a
relationship with a certain best friend..hmmm.
Angel~Loved you in this episode babe! But one small teeny tiny
complaint. Your suppose to be a Vampire right?? Ok, good. Now remember.
Black is good, Angel! Black leather is good! Tight black leather is...ok
you get my point.
Cordeila~Whine whine whine...bitch bitch bitch. That=92s ok!! Your
entitled to it but get your little hands OFF of Angel! Get back
girlfriend! Get back!
Giles~ You little cutie you! Giles and Jenny sitting in a tree!
K-I-S-S-I-N-G! Hey think about this, if you and Calendar woman get
married then you can bred your own little slayers! Umm..on second
thought, maybe not.
Willow~ You kinda sat on the sidelines in this one. Not much action
except for giving your knowledge on how long a human head can be kept
fresh. Eeww. But Willow since your my favorite girl character on the
show, I=92m still rooting for you!!
Happy days,

Aw, I liked that, Cordy saw her opportunity and ran with it! Smart girl.
Better than Xander and Willow whining at the end of the episode about how
few dates they can get (and I thought it was funny Xander would say that
right in front of Willow, since he knows she wants only to date him).
I'm not sure why Cordy shouldn't want Angel - how much could she know
about Buffy's relationship with Angel aside from seeing them together a few
times in the Bronze? - and she did have that buster line about "get that boy
some oxygen" last year. And wouldn't you like to see the look on her face
the first time he puts on his vamp face, like if they're surprised by
other vamps at night while they're parking or something! That would be
killer. They should definitely get together just so we can see that.
Oh, and put me down as another who loves Xander's harder edge. No more

Hey, everybody!
After WSWB aired, many people figured that Charisma had a cold
during the shoot, explaining her nearly dead voice when describing her
trip to Tuscany. However, after watching SAR last night, I just developed
a new theory. In the library, while Willow is tapping into the coroner's
office, she talks and sounds just like the Cordy we all knew from last
season. However, after the cheerleading practice, she returns to that
bland, distant voice when urging her partners to practice. At first, I
just shrugged this off as the voice of someone who was exhausted from
practice. Later in the episode, it happens again. Right before the
football game starts, a couple of the cheerleaders are heading out to the
field. The head cheerleader looks back and asks Cordy if she's coming.
Cordy's just taking her time, fixing her make-up, in no hurry to catch up
with her friends. These are the same friends whom she always walked
around with in the first season's episodes.
Is it possible, just possible, that Cordy is starting to lose
interest in her friends? Maybe their ignorance of the HellMouth is
actually starting to bug Cordy, so she's beginning to feel more
comfortable and more herself around Buffy and the Slayerettes. After
thinking about it this way, the whole notion of Cordy's future romantic
link doesn't seem too implausible.
Cheers,
Anime Nut

fav so far... It was so sweet that Angel was jealous over Xander... As
for Willow I think she and Chris would make a good couple (he didn't
want to hurt anybody) Eric is just a psycho looney who needs some
serious mental help and Xander should stop being such a jerk to Cordelia
she was thanking him sincerely for saving her life and he basically told
her to get lost, I think they'd make a cute couple, but maybe I'm just
seriously mentally ill, also, did anyone notice the scene where Eric

Hey, everybody!
I've got one more thing to point out. If you have "The Witch" on
tape, get it out and fast forward it to the credits.
Alright, in SAR, Buffy goes to the girls' locker room to find
Cordelia. She passes by two cheerleaders, one of whom was the head
cheerleader in "The Witch". The actresses' name is Amanda Wilmshurst.
Her name appears in the closing credits of SAR as "Amanda Wilmshurst --
Cheerleader". Now, watch the closing credits of "The Witch". Notice
something funny? It says, "Amanda Wilmshurst -- Senior Cheerleader".
Does this mean that she failed a bunch of her classes and was held back a
year? Or is it simply another flub? I'm hesitant to add this to the
Domain of the Slain episode guide simply because she's never referred to
as a senior in the actual episode, only the credits.
Cheers,
Anime Nut

No I don't think it was your brain because I heard it too and was wondering

Buffy's entire attitude this season (in all *2* episodes) has been edgier,
tougher. The fight sequences reflect that change. And IMHO, she needed
the added edge. The initial irreverent lightness of her character was
cute, but it wouldn't work forever if she's going to battle weirder and
darker creatures.

Cordelia is a lot like the original Buffy in the movie. Her priorities
are social but she will get involved if she has to. And the one thing
about her is that what you see is what you get.
Question: Has Buffy ever told Angel that she loves him? I haven't seen
every episode so I don't know and the scene where she tells him the she
doesn't love *Xander* got me wondering. Anybody know?

Maybe the show's producers want him to be a more believable rival for
Buffy's affection and hence the change in attitude and clothing, etc.

Coming outta lurkland for a few quick thoughts on the ep...
Re: Did Angel say "mated" or "made it?" - I heard 'mated' and to me it
makes more sense. But of course, it could be either, and they both have
the same meaning soooooo.....?
Re: Chris the perfect man for Willow? - I just don't see it. Sure she
seemed smitten early in the ep, but that was before we found what he was
really up to. To me grave-robbing, bringing dead people back to life,
and agreeing to murder (ok, ok, he backed outta that) are not good
things, for -whatever- reason. But then, I'm old-fashioned.
General thoughts:
To me, this was a very average ep. Of course, it's tough to compare to
the premiere, and it's not supposed to, it just didn't do it for me, I
guess. Personally, I thought the Giles/Calendar subplot made the ep.
One thing that struck me as -really- odd: does nothing happen after the
ep is over? A building is burned down, a headless corpse made up of a
bunch of different corpses is found inside, as well as a whole corpse of
a guy who's been dead for awhile. Does nothing happen? Doesn't
someone owe an explanation here? Do Chris and Eric really go on with
their happy-go-lucky lives? Eesh, I hope not. I can't really see Chris
saying, "Gee, Mr. Officer, I dunno how my brother got there. I mean,
he's been dead awhile.." Granted Eric -is- more twisted than Chris but
I can't imagine them just showing up the next day for school like
nothing happened. I'm not opposed to seeing Chris in a later ep, but
he'd BETTER have done some heavy time in Juvy Hall.. ;)
Despite the above, I did enjoy the ep.. ;)
just my two notes,

I hate the way Xander's character is taking. I liked him as a skater namely

should be himself and no one else. not for anyone. Besides Willow and Buffy

I thought this episode was very good. It was funny. I mean Buffy can't

If I remeber Buffy told Chris to go find Xander and willow and tell them

Angel has a very big purpose. I mean come on Buffy has to like somebody and
it wouldn't be as interesting if she was in love with a human.
Sorry that was long wasn't it. Oh well.

Well I just *can't* ignore these comments. :-) As far as I am
concerned, the best parts of this great program are the parts with Angel in
them and I just *can't* get enough of that good thing. :-)) He's still
pretty mysterious and I hope we get to learn a tiny bit more about him each
week.
I hope that there are a few others who agree with me. I'd hate to see
Angel's part cut back, although I don't recall seeing him in the promo for
next week. Grrr argh.

Actually I have now watched it 5 times (with and without CC) and they are
saying Princes - even others have noted the use of that word when asked to
listen. Note though that the banners Giles carries and the sign on the wall
behind them above the bleachers both say razorbacks, but the cheerleaders are
saying "princes." Now, someone offered the suggestion that that might be a
particular team member, though the plural seems to let that out. Or, maybe
it is a pet name for the team members as a whole ...

Subject: BUFFY: SAR......comments and opinions
Wow! I LOVED that episode! I liked it a lot more than I thought I would.
Shame on me for having any doubt it would be anything less than excellent!
Here are just a few comments and opinions about it:
I recognized Willow's patchwork-y shirt as one from dELiA's, a catalog that
sells really cool clothes (according to me and my school's standards).
Although it wasn't my favorite one from the catalog, I think Willow's fashion
sense is greatly improving! She looked really cute in this episode, esp in
the part where she was signing up for the science fair. If Chris hadn't beein
involved in the gruesome project, I would've liked to have seen them hook up.
(Or not, but whatever.)
Giles and Jenny were absolutely adorable! I thought itw as the cutest when
Giles was practicing asking her w/ the chair. I couldn't stop laughing after
Xander's line, "That whole stork thing is just a smokescreen." : )
Why did Cordy automatically assume that Xander was following her in the
parking lot? Does he have a secret stalking life we don't know about? (You
know being stalked really isn't a big turn on for girls!)
Was Xander's speech about not wanting what's right in front of you a hint to
Willow? Or was Xander just being his usual oblivious self?
I liked the ending w/ Angel and Buffy, but for some reason when they were
walking away into the mist I had this feeling they were going to disappear.
Like they were ghosts or something. Behold the weirdness!
Also, wasn't it just a bit careless of (name is escaping me now) the
dark-haired guy working w/ Chris to keep a cut-and-pasted pic in his locker?
Anyone walking by could see it if he were opening up his locker.
Careless......
In the opening credits, did they change the wolf cry? It sounded more
high-pitched. Anyway, that's all for now, but I may have some more comments
when I watch it again tonight or tomorrow night.
I liked this one better than WSWB b/c it was more of a real episode than an
introduction, or transition into the new season. Looks like this season's
gonna be great!
