Hi!
I was wondering, is it a written law that the slayer's parents can't know
that she in fact is the slayer? I mean you ask most people (especially
adults) and they will tell you, "No. Vampires do not exist. They are just
folklore." I think this is the way Buffy's mom would react. Sure Ms.
Calendar is a technopagan which makes her not the average adult. However,
even though she believes in aspects of the occult, that doesn't mean she
would believe in the whole "Buffy is the chosen one" thing. A written law
would make sense considering most parents of a slayer would just think there
child is delusional and would either lock them in their room or put them
away. Can anyone tell me if they know if the written law exsist? BTW, what
do ya think would be Buffy's mom's reaction if she ever found out? What
would she say?

They know. Got an email back from them yesterday saying they're working on
trying to figure out just why and how it happened. Doesn't do us any good,
but I figure letting them know we noticed isn't a bad thing. Fortunately
for everyone else only WPIX viewers had the Cybil Visitation.

She broke one part of the prophecy -- the part about the Slayer not
recognizing the Anointed. Giles warned her to look out for a child, and
when she met Colin, she said, "It's okay -- I know who you are."

The only thing I think we're concerned with is that as much of this be done
offlist as possible. I did post to the list asking for someone to
volunteer to tally votes offlist so that we wouldn't get tons of "I hate
Slayerette" posts. We also don't want to see this turn ugly.
I like your plan, but I think if several people volunteer you should just
work together--you don't need our stamp of approval, IMO. If the person
who did the tally to begin with is amenable to taking offlist nominations
for names, posting the possibilities then opening up voting, that's fine.
Since only 21 people voted last time, and a lot of people missed it, I
don't think it's untoward to vote again. However, I suspect you'll get an
only slightly larger turnout (a 1% response rate to a survey is considered
very high).
So work it out nicely amongst yourselves, and try to keep it from
cluttering up the playground too much. :-)
Thanks,
Sharon

Hi,
Um, ok, here goes. I'd be more than willing to be the so labled
'annointed one' as far as being sent votes. My mailbox won't crash (and
if it does, I get to fix it myself, since I work for my ISP ;) My mail
client uses filters, so I can pretty much filter votes into their own
folders as long as people are kind enough to use certain subjects.
Another good idea would be, for the sakes of whomever the 'annointed
one' will be, would be to state very clearly that *not* sending your
vote/nomination in the specified fashion would null that
vote/nomination. This will encourage people to use the proper subjects
when sending their vote/nomination. So, who wants the really fun job,
trying to contact all the other lists/boards/newsgroups? (g)

Ok, Hey everyone!!
How are things?? Just getting over the rush of last nights Buffy.
But I have a few teeny weeny questions. Hope you don't mind.
1.) Angel has a phone number?? He gave it to Giles?? Werid!!
2.) Xander knew where Angel lives?? How?? Did he follow him or
something?? Werid!!!
3.) The Master is dead. (Give me a hankie!!) What about little Colin?
I'm his babysitter, I need to know wher my pay check is coming from now.
:)
4.) In the words of Willow (the coolest chick around.) "How did she get
into the club??" Thats just what I was thinking on seeing Ms.Calender.
I mean it was great having a rival (aka playmate) for Giles but now I
think it's gone over the limit. She's too cocky, and thinks she's all
knowing. I bet she doesn't even know the Buffy code of honor!!! I wanted
to smack her when she said "And why's Buffy the Slayer? She's so
little!" Hey, Calender girl, go try and slay a vampire and then maybe
you can actually be in the club!!
(I'm really sorry if this offends any Ms.Calender fans out there.)
5.) Buffy's a heart breaker. What's up next for our poor Xander??
6.) (The last one) Did anyone besides me notice how campy the show got
after Buffy came back to life?? Where Xander,Angel, and Buffy are
walking to the theme song and they keep showing her feet?? The guys at
"Mystery Science Theater 3000" would show no mercy with this!!
Alright, I'm through. Stick a fork in me, I'm done. If these questions
have already been asked and answered I'm truly sorry to be wasting
space. I can't wait for next season!!!
Oh, by the way. Please have a moment of slience for all the poor
unfortunate souls (including myself) who's time, effort, and dedacation
on making a webpage on the server Angelfire. Last week, they had a
system breakdown and all the webpages including my beloved Plum(and

Subject: BUFFY: My response to the Selection process
Hello Everyone,
I just received Matthew's constructive criticism on the selection process.
Let me begin by saying that Matthew is completely right. I think that an
offical selection process should be structured in a formal matter. I
started the unofficial selection process as a matter of curiosity, and
then it evolved into something more. I didn't feel I had the authority or
the knowledge of other lists as a newbie to hold an offical selection for
a group name. I would be glad to participate in a more official process
if that was desired. From my perspective, nobody seemed too concerned
about the process until a decision was made. Maybe if another selection
process occurred people would state their preferences.
I really do appreciate all comments and polite criticism from all of you,
but I do think that a group name would be helpful. We are all great fans
of the show and we would like to see the show flourish. Group unity,
in my opinion, would help us achieve our goal.
Thanks for all of your patience,

Yes, I think there were undertones of Buffy becoming a "Bride" of the
Master. As Vampirism is a profane mockery of Christian resurrection,
the white dress of a Vampire's "Bride" would be a profane mockery
of a Christian Bride's dress. As I mentioned in another post, Buffy
looked like a Vampire's Bride for a moment after Xander and Angel
helped her up, pale-faced, kohl-eyed, in a white dress, whispering
"Master...?" The Master had even held her and "kissed" her on the
neck (gross!) (the only problem would have been the cross).
Of course it dawns on Buffy that the wedding didn't finish.
She never said "I do" by drinking his blood, and it really
was time to go kick his butt.

Subject: BUFFY: Season Finale: Series Finale?
It has been pointed out to me that the reason the Season Finale was such
a show stopper, bringing everything to a conclusion with the Master being
defeated is that the BTVS series was shot such that it would be a
complete package for one season in the event that it was cancelled.
However, the Season Finale did leave enough room for other possibilities
to explore in the event it survived into a second season.
I guess these possibilities might be:
1. The continued development of the characters and relationships.
2. The emergence of other evil Masters or the rebirth of the old Master.
3. Other evil influences (werewolves, spirits, demons, etc.)
4. Introduction of new characters into the Slayerettes or those who
regularly interact with the Slayerettes as Cordelia and Giles girlfriend
did before they joined them.
5. A host of other imaginative episodes devoted to time travel (past and
future), outer space connections (maybe X-Files tie-ins?), parallel
universes, double identities, an episode done entirely tongue-in-cheek
spoofing itself, new love interests for the characters, maybe a more
in-depth exploration of the family of each character (Buffy, Willow,
Xander's parents, cousins, Grandparents, etc.), cross-over appearances
between BTVS and Xena: Warrior Princess (I hope!), etc.

Why? Because he knows Xander loves Buffy? To fix them up,

Because he thinks that he and Buffy have "no future"?

Actually, she did accidently tell her Mom in the episode "Witch", her Mom

left the kitchen sining "Macho Man."

Hi!
I printed this before but people are still asking so I figured I would send
it again.
Giles to Ms. Calendar: "I'm not dancing though"
Ms. Calendar to Giles: "We'll see." (She said something else but it was
blurred out by Willow's voice.)
Buffy says something as she turns to walk away, but you can't tell what she
said.
Willow said something to Angel but you can't tell what.
Then Willow says to Angel: "You can come with us though."
Xander said: "So what's the story with the car?"
Cordelia said: "Oh that was me."
Buffy says: "I'm really really hungry."
Angel said to Buffy: "Oh by the way I really like your dress."
Buffy said: "Yeah yeah, a big hit with everyone."
There ya go all!!

Subject: BUFFY: transcript of chat with Joss
Hi,
Is everyone getting sick of me with chat transcripts and all? Good.
This is a long one, I did manage to get into the room for unmoderated
chat...at the end, TV James left Joss logged in but not talking, and I didn't
stop logging until he left, so it's kinda junky at the end...anyway...also, I
got in about 5 minutes late, because the chat area was full, 75 people...so,
when the *official* transcript is up at www.buffyslayer.com in about a week,
I'll update my own transcript. But for those of you who don't want to wait...
Remember, read the transcript BOTTOM TO TOP...

I was thinking that since the vote was Surya's baby the first time round,
we might offer it back to him first. Alternately, it might not be a bad
idea to have more than one vote counter, and as Sharon said, we should get
together and work it out.
>vote/nomination. This will encourage people to use the proper subjects
We don't want to make it too strict, it might turn people off from voting,
if they're lazy like me. :)
>when sending their vote/nomination. So, who wants the really fun job,
>trying to contact all the other lists/boards/newsgroups? (g)
I guess I didn't think of the full implications of that suggestion. I know
I've seen several people onlist who are active in other lists as well as
the Posting board. Perhaps some of those people could volunteer to
cross-post the necessary requests, updates, and lists.
Now that I think about this, and considering Sharons request that we don't
clutter up the bandwidth, perhaps anyone interested in this matter should
contact me privately and we'll hash it out. I don't mean to be
over-asserting myself here, and I'm willing to help organize this voting
thing, but I don't really want to be the vote-counter.
Thanks for your time,

I would guess it's not. Giles family certainly knew he was
a Watcher. It was an old family tradition with them.
But Buffy's mom not knowing just adds to the comedic tension
of Buffy trying to juggle two conflicting roles, one as a normal
high school teenager, the other as mythic vampire slayer.
If mom knew, Buffy wouldn't have to work so hard at juggling
and it might take away some humor opportunities. Besides,
as others have said regarding Ms. Calender, we don't wan't

Well, I guess I gotta add my .02. Wow! This was one of the best season
finales that I can recall having seen! The acting was superb,
especially Sarah in the library scene, and I have to say that I, for one
think that the 16 I don't wanna die line was perfect. And, SMG delivered
it in a truly heart rending way. Give the girl another Emmy!! Allyson
was most excellent too. Now, about Xander's treatment of Willow - while
I find it completely reprehensible, and thoroughly despicable, we need
to remember that he's only 16(or so). He's neither in touch with or in
control of his feelings, nor is he able to anticipate anyone else's. On
the one hand, Willow is a totally wonderful girl, and deserves far
better treatment - like being loved for herself, not as a consolation
prize! And good for her for refusing to be such a consolation prize!
But, on the other hand, I can sympathize with Xander's frustration
concerning the unrequited love which he has for Buffy(or, is it really
unrequited lust? Hmmm!) Whichever, Been there, Done that! The poor
guy! Buffy's such a Babe(sorry, ladies, no intent to offend!); in fact
her continued lack of popularity considering this, baffles me. In my
high school, she would have had to beat the boys off with a baseball
bat.(Of course, since she's The Slayer, she would have been quite
proficient at this!) Anyway, I really ejoyed the h*ll out of this
episode, and will have to view my taped archives to alleviate summer
withdrawl symptoms.
A nit pick, if you all will indulge me - I really do agree with several
of you that this should have been a two hour finale. It was so rich
with material that it could have been easily stretched thus. And, we
all would have had an additional 60 minutes of BtVS to watch! Heh Heh!
(Momma didn't raise no fools!)
The Master is dead! Long live the Master! I suspect that the Annointed
One will be somehow able to resurrect his "dad". We have not seen the
last of the Master, I'm sure.("No, but the first if you turnes my
stomach!" Nick Danger, Third Eye - The Firesign Theater)
Well, that's sufficient rambling. Hope you all can cope with Buffy
withdrawl. Ain't VCR's great?
Jon.

Yes, she would be. Maybe she thought she was in heaven and Xander
was God, or in Hell and Xander was.... But the quote I'm referring
to comes later (see other posts) after they help her up and she looks
kinda like a Victorian vamp woman, pale-skin, blackened eyes, disheveled
hair, revealing white dress.

It may be deliberately ambiguous. The scene is full of teasing
little hints. She looks so much like the Victorian image of
a vamp woman there (pale skin, blackened eyes, disheveled
hair, white revealing dress). And she says "I feel strong.
I feel different." in a very queer voice for Buffy. The bite
has somehow infused her with some of the Master's power. And
now she's going to use it against him.

Its a time honored tradition that no family member or close friends know
their love ones
true calling in life. Traditionally the hero used
it to protect his family from retaliation and also
to keep their identity a secret. It also adds
comic relief.
It also allows the hero to be "normal" at least
when they are home.
Its not law it is tradition which is stronger then law.

What a sham!
I never saw any message saying that an election was being held! And
now it has apparently been decided?!
If we are going to have a proper election, shouldn't it be announced at
least as often as that TV-Guide "faces" vote-for-SMG thing was?
No wonder the top pick only got 16 votes -- almost nobody knew that
the election was on!
Let's have someone post the nominations, and a ballot, and a method
for determining that the vote-keeper is receiving and recording all of
the votes properly.
Judging from all the messages we have read so far, this is too controversial
an issue to just take one person's word for it that there was an election and
that the issue has been decided.
I repeat, the "election" was a sham.
