Ok, only Buffy can make me laugh and cry and yell at the TV all at once.
Poor Willow! I can't believe Xander was practing his speech to Buffy on
her. I'm so glad she stood up for herself, telling him she wouldn't be his
consolation prize! Go girl! I can't wait to see the quote about her being a
computer nerd. *That's* going in my .sig!
Ok, hands up.. who thought Buffy looked like a virgin ready for the
sacrifice in her white dress?
If anyone gives this stuff to Joss... Joss! I love you! What a fabulous
episode.. the editing, the hidden wipes, the absolute terror I was in while
Buffy was dead. The laughs I had about the country music, the "I like your
dress" comments. The really nice touch that it was Buffy's strength as the
Slayer that gave the Master the power to escape. Oh! Yes!
Ok, I'm calm again. What a wonderful episode! Great season ender! I can't
wait for the fall! I have to wait till fall??????

I don't think that we should take this as the final decision of what to
call ourselves. I mean, there are _lots_ of people on this mailing list +
_lots_ of buffy fans and to have a vote where a score of 16 wins seems way
to small to me to decide for such a large group

I just watched 'Prophecy Girl' and let me tell you, the producers, writers,
etc., they all really out did themselves this time. It was the scariest
one yet. My favorite part, besides when she killed tha Master, of course,
was when she started laughing after she heard she was going to die. And
everyone was right. Yes, she did actually die. And yes, she did actually
live. How exactly did they bring her back to life, anyway? Is Cordelia
one of them now, as is Ms. Calendar? (that is her name, isn't it?) And
what will happen to the Anointed One and all the other vampires now that
the Master is gone? Help me out here.

my god this episode kicked butt. It's by far my favorite of the season.
I'd have to agree with someothers on this list that I think it would have
been cooler if there was a cliffhanger. Although there are plenty of
things to think about. I'm a little concerned about how much things are
going to change next season. I mean Ms. Calendar now knows all about it
and then theres Cordelia. Also, the whole town cant just ignore all those
deads kids with vampire bites on their necks. but besides that...my only
reaction was "wow!"
i was thinking about the show and one of the reasons i just love it areall
the little one liners and incerpts of humor. I thought it was cool when
the master was yelling his little speel then said something like "a 5.1
you think?" and when xandar told angel to stop looking at his neck and
that he told him he shoulda eat before they left had me cracking up
just had to mention that

ROCK!
Okay, okay, I know everyone has been posting over and over again about
tonite's episode, but it's MY turn..:)
I mean, my goodness, this HAS to be THE best episode to date (for me, at
least) and if I don't write what I thought of it, I swear I'll explode.
Action packed and DEFINITELY full of emotions! THAT'S what I LOVED about
it--all the emotions flying to and fro. Okay, so the Xander asking Buffy
out seemed a little rushed. I mean, yes we have seen Xander always have
SOMETHING to say about Buffy, but we never (or at least *I* didn't) got
the feeling that his feelings for her ran SO deep! MAybe he puts on such
a clownish facade, we weren't supposed to notice?
After the first few scenes, I felt that BUffy and her Slayerettes had
crumbled. Buffy rejects Xander, Willow rejects Xander...Xander goes and
drowns himself in country music...it was just depressing from the
beginning. But I'd have to say my fav scene was when Buffy learns her
fate...whew, I was taken aback at the response we got from Buffy the
character and how well it was portrayed by Sarah, the actress! That
heart-sinking laugh she managed to let out just totally tore my heart out
for the heroine.
Someone was mentioning how they didn't like it as much because of the lack
of time..well, it's true, many things were rushed. But we must remember
that no one knew the fate of the show...I think (and PRAY) that Joss picks
up where he leaves off. I mean, next season (IF the season premeire
picks off like the DAY after prom), I don't want to see Xander, Buffy, and
Willow all buddy-buddy again without explanation. It's nice to see
friction among the group once and a while.
It was excellent seeing Cordelia play a great, though somewhat minor, role
in the episode, too...even talking to Willow! I guess there's still some
left over thanking from "Invisible Girl." I would love to hear the
explanation on how her car got into the school to Prinicpal Synder!
(Where was HE?)
CPR part--good, simple solution, but badly done! Nicholas should've taken
some classes before doing the scene :)
Buffy feeling stronger? Hmmm..that's another thread I hope Joss
continues. I'm wondering if being sucked on by the Master has some
"demonic" effects that's slowly building. Although, it was great seeing
Buffy putting on some 'tude, some of it was a little un-Buffyish.
Welp, time for bed and dream about things to come now that the Master
won't be up and about for a while--if at all. :)

Hiya all! Wow what a season ender! I, for one, am glad that it's not a
cliffhanger. I had to watch this ep 3 times before I felt safe to post my 2
cents cuz I came away from it the first time with a very confused look on my
face---HUH?
Okay, the best part of the whole thing is Xander versus Angel--wheee! Angel
"you're out of your league, kid." and then Xander shoves a cross in his face
(guess what? you're wrong!) That had me on the floor laughing...poor Angel.
At least Angel read it right...Xander was jealous. I don't think that the
tension next season is going to come from Buffy and Angel trying to stay
apart despite what their hearts tell them, I think the real tension is going
to come from the mutual jealousy from those two guys.
I've got to hand it to Willow, she did me proud by saying "no" to Xander.
Now the confusing part of the entire show that made me go--huh? is that the
Master killed Buffy....how? I think that the bite he took wasn't even long
enough to empty her of her blood..just enough to knock her out then he
dropped her face down into the water... or did he bite her? I've gotta go
watch it again after I send this off...it's kind of like he didn't even break
the skin before he lifted his head and said something about the power...
well, the writers are staying consistent with Angel and the breathing
thing--if he did the cpr I bet alot of us would have objected considering our
incredibly long thread on "vampires can't breathe" thing.
One thing I was disappointed in--Angel versus the Master...I would have loved
to hear a conversation between those two. Anyways, I'm going to miss the
master big time. Wonder who they will bring in for the Fall? I liked the
expansion on the vampire powers but it's still limited to just the Master as
far as we know. Can Angel do the hypnotism crap (to use Buffy's words)? It
would make things interesting in the new eps this fall.
Fave lines: "You're looking at my neck..."
"What?"
"I told you to eat before we left."
Buffy: "What can I say? I flunked the written." yes, history is her worst

Wouldn't it be cool if Buffy's Mom somehow found out about Buffy's well,
job, I guess. Buffy could be walking home, is followed by a vampire and
she stops to slay it in her front yard. Buffy's Mom comes out to see
what's going on and sees. She starts screaming and Giles and everybody is
called in to explain.
( Buffy walkng through yard. Vampire jumps in front of her)
Buffy: Oh, you want to play games, do you?
( Takes out stake. As she is slaying, Mom walks out and sees. Starts
Screaming. Camera zoomms or whatever to living room. Mom is surronded by
Buffy, Willow, Xander and Giles, who Buffy called)
Giles: Now please, Mrs. Summers, please calm down.
Buffy's Mom, calming down: What is going on here? Why did my daughter kill
a man with a wooden stick?
Giles: Well, belive it or not, it wasn't a man, it was a vampire.
Mom: Excuse me? Are you feeling alright?
Giles: I know it's hard to belive, but it's true. Buffy is the Vampire
Slayer. The chosen one from her generation to kill vampires and other
forces of darkness.
Mom: Buffy?
Buffy: Yeah mom, it's true.
Mom: I can't belive it. My daughter goes around killing ugly guys with
sticks! What will people think? What about my grandchildren?
Just a thought.

Already did. It was deeply disturbing to be suddenly dropped into the
middle of Cybil and a discussion of fur jockstraps.
WPIX isn't rerunning it this weekend? I asked, in my email, if there was
any chance the weekend rerun would be cleaned up.
Did anyone else elsewhere in the country receive a visitation by fur

Subject: BUFFY: Names: an issue to consider
In all this discussion about names, I haven't seen the following issue addressed:
The media needs a catchy label that they can tack on to fans.
Fans want an exciting phrase that they can call themselves.
Sometimes the two coincide, and sometimes not. "Xenites" and "Trekkers"
"X-Philes" work well for those fans, but I don't think we Buffy fans will
be as fortunate to find something as nice.
While "Designated Stake Holders," "Buffy's Legion" and "Buffy's Vigilantes"
are fine names for groups or fanclubs, I doubt the media would ever use them.
The media needs a one-word name, such as "Slayerettes," "Slaymates," "Slayers,"
or even "Slaysters."
I think the voting will have to be on two names, one for our use, and one for
public use.
Finally, I agree with the list-keepers - don't vote yet, and don't vote here. Wait
for a roll call, and then vote off-list. Continue to submit nominations publicly
until a vote is called, of course.

I really enjoyed this episode. Plus, I got one of my never seen Buffy
before friends to watch it tonight, and she told me she was hooked! Just a
few comments:
First of all, wasn't the little boy the same one that was havign
Nightmares in the Nightmare episode? Even Giles made a comment about it -
forgot what it was specifically - but I know that boy confronted his
monster/softball coach and left the "master's" side. The episode made it
seem as if his ever being by the master's side was a nightmare, but still
I found it confusing that the annointed one was like the boy from
the Nightmare episode.
Also, I am a huge fan of Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series, and
from
these I think I can see why Buffy felt so strong after she was saved from
drowning. The bite on her neck given to her by the master may have been
the first step toward "converting her to his human servant". That gives
her power aganist his mind control (a reason she was able to avoid his
hypnosis) and also gives her a greater tracking sense. Just thought I'd
throw that in as an explanation for anyoen who was confused by this.
I think this was a really great episode, and I'm so glad Willow didn't
just go to the dance with Xander. I'm really happy that she was able to
stand up forherself and realize she would have been miserable with him
wishing the whole time she was Buffy.
And I have to agree, the best quote was: "I may be dead but I'm still
pretty."

Hi All;
I just finished watching "Prophesy Girl" and all I can say is WOW!
I was speechless after this one. Reduced to uttering one syllable sounds
dredged up from my evolutionary past.
MAJOR SPOILER WARNING - BEWARE!
SPOILER SPACE
SPOILER SPACE
SPOILER SPACE
This was the most intense episode to date. Joss Whedon's screen play was
beautifully scripted, and incredibly brought to life. The acting ability
displayed on my screen was overwhelming. Sara M.G. had her finest moment of
the series when she found out that she was destined to die at the hands of
the Master. She WAS a 16-year old faced with her mortality. The character
of Buffy was aware, in an academic sort of way, that she could die fighting
vampires. This brought her face to face with the inescapable fact of her
death.
In fact, every character was given the opportunity to show some true
character. Keep up the great work Joss! The interaction between Xander and
Willow was classic. It's great to see that Willow can see Xander without
rose colored glasses when it counts.
This episode was so full of drama, that the usual one-liners almost seemed
out of place at times. I would stack this episode against any dramatic
moment on television, and not find it lacking. I have to go back and watch
the episode again. I'm sure that I missed a lot of the subtleties.
It was great to see the return of Miss Calendar to the team. With the
imminent arrival of the Apocalypse, it's all hands on deck.
Cordelia came through as well. With her now aware of the existence of
vampires, how will this affect her character next season? I can't wait to
find out.
One final observation before I head for the VCR: It appears that Buffy
gained some kind of resistance to the Master after her untimely demise.
She may have even inherited some of his powers. I hope this explored
further next season. If it is not, I will feel kind of cheated. Obviously
something enabled Buffy to fight off the Masters control during their
second confrontation.
After I rewatch this episode, I'll be able to discuss it more
intelligently. I'm still on a high.
WOW!

I agree the show was excellent.....all the way from the beggining to end.
My favorite scene was when they played the intro music while Buffy

ANGEL.....DID HE NOT LOOK ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS IN THIS SHOW OR WHAT...I
MEAN HE ALWAYS LOOKS HOT BUT THIS WAS THE BEST. After giving it some

it would take all the fun out of it, i6t would be like a bad 90210

Great episode...stellar acting!!! However, there were a few things I'd like
clarified. Like why didn't Buffy die? If she was bitten, she should have
_at least_ turned into a vampire, right? Or maybe Giles and Co. didn't get
far enough in the Codex to see that Buffy _needed_ to die to gain the
strength to kill the Master? Kinda reminiscent of Jesus Christ, wouldn't
you think--the self-sacrifice for the sake of the world. Another thing:
was it me or did it seem to imply that Buffy, ironically enough, would not
have died due to the Master's bite, but from almost drowning? I mean,
Xander did resuscitate her with CPR. Too bad this wasn't a 2-hr season
finale. I would've loved to hear the explanation of why Buffy didn't die?
You think next season Joss and the writers will address the prophecy and
clarify exactly what it said? I hope so. Another question: Giles, Willow,
Xander, Angel, and Ms. Calendar all knew about the prophecy and Buffy's
death but Cordelia didn't...and yet, when Xander mentions it at the end,
Cordelia didn't so much as _react_ surprised. She didn't even appear
confused or curious as to _why_ what happened _did_. Well, anyhow, I can't
wait till next season to see what will happen...like will Ms. Calendar and
Cordelia interact more with Giles, Buffy and the Slayerettes? Will they
join the Slayerettes? What will be the new threat now that the Master died?
Will the Anointed One still harbor a threat to Sunnydale? Who will be
Willow's boyfriend (I thought there was an article that Willow was going to
have one). Will "Prophecy Girl" be explained and clarified?
Looks like it's gonna be a long summer. :( At least I have the reruns to
look forward to. :)

It certainly fits with the other signs that she's been vamped. Such as:
1. Bitten by a vampire
2. Resurrected
3. Suddenly stronger
4. Ability to track down the Master just like Angel
5. "I may be dead, but I'm still pretty" (notice it's not 'have died')
and 6. "I'm Hungry"
Of course, these could all be nothing but coincidences.
As for the rest of the episode, it was great, but a little short. And I
was a little disappointed to see that Cordy's BMW didn't have a
personalized license plate. '3SZP896' just doesn't have the aura of
'2COOL4U' or any of the others that have been mentioned.
Is it September yet?? <g>

It is a

a vampire.
Prophecy Girl: Woah! I haven't been this amazed by a season finale since
"Reunion." (Okay it didn't have quite the same cliffhanger ending, but
anyways.) With the exception of one not-so-little thing, this episode was
perfect. My major quibble was that they never explained why Buffy didn't
die!! How could the Master escape if he didn't kill her, or at least drain
enough blood to debilitate her? I also had problems with the sound, so if
this was explained and I missed it, forgive me. The Master got the best lines
of the show, besides "You've got a Kool-Aid mouth"!!!!
I was ROTFLMAO! General observations on the characters: I wanted to slap
Xander for being such a jerk, especially when he was practicing on Willow.
Ms. Calender came back!!! And Cordelia had another "nice" episode. Willow
had some great scenes (BTW, all the actors, especially ASH and Alyson, were
better than I've ever seen them on the show.) Giles got angry -- and got
knocked out by Buffy!! But he valiantly attacked the Hellmouth beast. And
judging from the ending scene, the Slayerette team will be quite large come
next season (I got the feeling that, since this show was shot before renewal
came through, Joss & Co. kind of wanted to wrap up all the loose ends in case
the show was cancelled). A terrific finale all round, and I can't wait till
season 2 begins!

Thanks! It's so odd that while everyone else was asking her questions,
she was asking me something :D
The Board is located at:

Hi!
I know we are keeping the "keeping posting" down to a minimum but I didn't
know who to send this to. Sorry all. I can't remember who is the keeper of
the Buffy List. Whoever is please let me know. I would like to hereby
declare being the keeper of Buffy's photo album of memories. I would also
like to be keeper of her prom dress unless it is taken.

Same here, this will be the first ep since I've been on the list that I
will not be writing a *review* for Yeah Yeah it's amazing! I just have to
say that I didn't really enjoy this ep that much, to much angst, I hate
ANGST! I got my aunt to watch it for the first time, and I was really
disappointed that it wasn't as good as the other ones, and I probably
won't be able to convince her to watch it again, she fell asleep during
it! I love the show don't get me wrong and this one had it's moments but
I'm putting it with "The Pack", and "Angel" as my least fave episodes.
Lot's of Giles moments that I really loved! And lots of new Giles' stuff
to keep (email me to get something). Nice to see Ms. Calendar back, and
even Joyce.
