  129.     Hi, my name is Peg, and I joined this list yesterday.  I'm 23,
  130. live in Boulder, Colorado, and I am also a huge fan of Due South--it's a
  131. TV show--I don't know if anyone here remembers it.  I have never been a
  132. huge fan of vampires because they're evil.  :)  But I like Buffy a lot
  133. because it portrays vampires as monsters that need slaying.  Following the
  134. Darla discussion, I don't think she could have loved Angel except in a
  135. twisted evil kind of way because she has no humanity left.  On the other
  136. hand, I think Angel is a cool character because he has to struggle
  137. constantly with what he is--both vampire and human.  I would love to see
  138. he and Buffy get together but I doubt they ever will because the tension
  139. adds a great dynamic to the show.  
  140.  
  141.     I am really hoping to see a fanfic list start soon, because I
  142. write short stories and I have some ideas I'd love to post.  I'd also like
  143. to ask a favor--is there any "official" list of who keeps what because I'd
  144. like to call either Angel's black leather jacket or Buffy's crossbow.
  145. Could someone mail me a list?

  147.     I also like a bunch of other things about the show, like the
  148. friendships between Willow, Xander, and Giles, and I love to hate
  149. Cordelia, and I also like having monsters other than vampires to slay.

  372. I rewatched that episode yesterday, and I even watched that scene in slomo. 
  373. Angel comes out the window as if he were running through it. Buffy says, " 
  374. You're not welcome here." My opinion this, well at first I thought Buffy through 
  375. him out window. When you see someone flying out a window on TV it is usually 
  376. because that person was thrown out but it does look like he may be running out. 
  377. It is hard to tell what really happened. Someone brought that Angel did not 
  378. continue to run away he waited to see what Buffy had to say as if he was thrown 
  379. out the window and we wanted to explain but Buffy was to angry so he just 
  380. listened to her. If he had just run out the window he would have just continued 
  381. to run away. I think that the whole rescinding invitation thing is bull. Buffy  
  382. didn't say "You are not welcome," until after Angel went through the window.

  454. I agree. In the movie " Fright Night," Peter Vincent(The Great Vampire Hunter 
  455. played by Roddy Macdowell) thrust a cross in the air and says "Back, Spawn of 
  456. Satan, " or something like that, then the Vampire(Jerry Dandridge played by 
  457. Chris Sarandon) chuckles and says " You have to believe in order for that to 
  458. work," or something to that affect, The Charlie Brewster(the kid who thinks his 
  459. next door neighbor is vampire played by William Ragsdale), Thrusts a cross in 
  460. the air and says " I believe," and the Vampire runs away. It is true that 
  461. vampire lore varies from person to person, movie to movie but I tend to agree 
  462. with you on that point.

  521. Answering two Questions at once!  The black leather jacket and crossbow
  522. (which was Giles' NOT Buffy, he let her borrow it) have already been
  523. claimed.  Some advice to newbies:

  525. Most of the stuff from the episodes that have been shown has already been
  526. claimed, best wait till this next one or next season to make a claim
  527.

  552. I don't think that killing Angel would take away his vampirism. In fact, 
  553. it didn't because in the end of Angel, Buffy's cross burned him and that 
  554. wouldn't happen if he was human. Also in Invisable Girl he was still a 
  555. vamp.

  644. Not necessarily.  Angel loves Buffy.  Angel had his half-vampire cravings start 
  645. kicking in on him.  He was confused. He wanted to kill her, and yet he loved 
  646. her.  It drove him crazy, temporarily out of his senses.  He started running.  
  647. Confused, he jumped for it.  Thus, within the context of the vampire/slayer 
  648. mythology which had been established, as well as the context of the episode, it 
  649. is a possible explanation.

  651. I judged that as a possibility.  I don't know the answer for sure.  Only the 
  652. writer of that episode, and maybe Joss, do.  (And maybe there was something in 
  653. the original scene to explain what happened which had to be edited out for 
  654. reasons of time.)

  792. Well, Willow didn't seem to feel that "Slayerette" was an inappropriate name
  793. for her and Xander, and Xander didn't complain. Of course, he had a lot of
  794. other things on his mind and probably figured Willow was just joking, to boot.

  796. And I have to admit to being *very* amused to see the guys clamoring for a
  797. gender-neutral term for a change, considering all the grousing the male half
  798. of the species tends to do when women insist that they don't feel that using
  799. "he" to mean "person of either gender" is satisfactory.

  801. But in a way it may not matter too much. The media will most likely pick up
  802. on whatever term they find catchy and ignore our preference. (Trek-watchers
  803. are still "Trekkies" despite years of loud insistance that they want to be

  806. "Slayers" doesn't cut it for me because it's too grim, and I think the
  807. show's bent toward humor is much of what makes it so special. So I'd prefer
  808. a lighter term. ("Slayers" make the fan base sound a bit like serial-killer
  809. wannabes to me.) I suppose we could invent a term out of whole cloth, like
  810. "FoBaVS" for "Fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (singular form "Fobav," as
  811. in "Are you a Fobav too?")

  1095. make a go for it.  They can't do too much hot and heavy kissing cuz Angel
  1096. would more than likely as we saw in "Angel" ep loose control of himself. In
  1097. books, I've read that to vamps drinking blood is almost like sex to them so
  1098. that would explain Angel's restraint.   Other areas of tension by being
  1099. together every night or so could be that Angel's past can rear it's ugly head
  1100. say a vampire pops up that happens to be one that Angel created and he has a
  1101. hard time letting Buffy kill that vamp...
  1102. I would like to see an arguement between Angel and Buffy, and Angel loosing
  1103. his temper or vice versa, I think that would be interesting. There are tons
  1104. of story angles from this point as well as the vice versa as mentioned above.

  1218.     As I waded through the obscene amount of messages I received
  1219. today, I ran across two things in particular that I feel the need to
  1220. respond to:
  1221.     First off, and forgive me for not knowing the young ladies name,
  1222. a fellow new member asked about being the "Keeper" of various
  1223. Buffy-items.  I too yearn to be a "Keeper" and am wondering if it would
  1224. be bad form to request Buffy's Prom Dress pre-episode.  I have,
  1225. admittedly, done some cheating and found out the general plot of the
  1226. season finale and would ultimately like to avoid the stampede.  Being a
  1227. fan of B.T.V.S. from its infancy I have only recently discovered these
  1228. groups, due to a general mistrust of these infernal machines, ergo... did
  1229. not have the opportunity to request any elements of Buffy-dom.  I am
  1230. amazed at the surgical precision of you veteran members, whose accuracy
  1231. of observation has made it indeed difficult to find anything new.   An
  1232. excellent example of, "Early bird gets the worm."  Despite my whining, I
  1233. throw myself on the mercy of my fellow Slayerites.  Therefore, I believe
  1234. a referee is required.
  1235.     Secondly, in response to the Buffy poll......

  1239.     This has the air of tragic romance which I truly enjoy.  Is
  1240. anything more dramatic than unfulfilled love?  I have never subscribed to

  1242. never have loved at all..."  Please.......Having loved and having lost
  1243. said love.......in retrospect I'd rather still have my innocence. 
  1244. Although it definitely makes for an interesting life, as I would think it
  1245. would make an interesting and endearing plot line.  Other weaker shows
  1246. use this type of "can't have" scenario for big ratings.  Knowing that
  1247. this is merely a poll and not a contract I will halt my spiteful revelry,
  1248. but perhaps its not that bad of an idea for the future of Buffy.  (I
  1249. sincerely apologize to Buffy for suggesting she live the rest of her life
  1250. away from the one she loves but .....  I'm available.)

  1252.     Finally, two clarifications.  My address states my user name as
  1253. "Charles U. Farley."  From a group who is so obviously well read and
  1254. "well-viewed" I would have expected someone to realize the irony of that
  1255. name.  I really prefer Archangel, at my age I find anonymity quite
  1256. liberating.
  1257.     And two,  I fear that my messages are too lengthy.  If they are,
  1258. please tell me. I abhor my trait of endless rambling and enjoy the
  1259. succinctness of your messages.

  1264. I find  "Slayerettes" charming and well within the tongue-&-cheek humor
  1265. of the show.  Although having used "Slayerites" twice already, I am

  1267. name, I beg you choose soon before I get too set in my ways....
