Well, I'm taping it as we speak. It's 6:30 my time, but because of the wonders
of WGN, I get it twice on Mondays, if WGN is carrying it.
Anyway, I'd like to re-hash the fact that I'm now keeping a list of all things
Angel. Send requests to me after the ep, and I'll add you to the list. Please
keep it private, as the rest of the list doesn't need to read them too. I'll
send out a list as soon as I get requests. I've only gotten three people's

Let me know.

This is my favorite episode! As a Cordelia fan, I naturally loved it because
Cordelia was the star of the episode. I loved everything about this episode.
The plot was great. The ending was hilarious, we all knew that Cordelia
wouldn't hang with Buffy and her crew from now on. The script was well
written, suspenseful, and humorous at the same time! I gave this episode a
10! This is my opinion.

OK, all of you who wanted to post ideas about X-Files crossovers: Stop it now!
They may use those ideas yet. =) Yeah, yeah, I saw it coming as soon as they
busted the doo down at the end, right to the trained assassin part. . .
Joss Whedon has a knack for pulling out the little things in high school that
drove us all mad and were truths we never realized. In this case, it was the
whole "Have a Nice Summer" bit.
So does the Invisible Girl (forgot her name already - go fig, right?) know
Buffy is a slayer, or is that just from overhearing stuff circumstantially in
the library?
Nice focus on Cordelia here. She's definitely more than just a flat character
now. (And the first person to make a pun on that based on chest sizes will be
promptly scolded by Bill. =)
Buffy actually looked good in the boots this time. =)
Lots of great one-liners. "I think I speak for all of us when I say 'HUH?'"
Giles now has the book with accurate prophecies, which will link directly into
the season finale where Buffy and the Master meet. I hope it's a cliffhanger,
myself. A little bit of continuity and sub-plot going here.
And more to come as I think of it or people discuss it. . .

First this was not the best episode but a good
episode overall here are my thoughts:
1) Cordelia - wow did i misunderstand her. She
has incredible low self-esteem. She is using
being popular to having self-esteem. She has
none. The way she let her boyfriend bully her
around at the end was so sad. God i really
hate men that do that to women!!!
2) Marcia being invisible - did that seem very
X-Fileish to anyone. She became invisible because everyone ignored
her.How different
is she from Cordelia. Even though Marcia is
physically invisible Cordelia is basically
invisible to herself.
3) I loved the last scene with the invisible classroom. That came right
out of an X-Files
episode. Wow!!! That was the highlight of
the show.
4) Well the stage is set for a showdown between Buffy and the master.
Angel basically
gave Giles the ammo that they need.
5) Did the principal have a very Quark like
moment when he heard the term "Sue". The
way he reacted was straight out of his
Quark character.

And this person has just demonstrated what is, in my mind, the best
solution to this problem. Covert presence. It doesn't sound as nice to
the people who *want* the actors on the list openly, but it is a much
better alternative to those who don't want to see *any* actor presence
on the list. Since we don't know if they are or they aren't, an amazing
thing will happen, we'll keep acting the same way as we are now! Free
open disccusion with the possibility that the actors are lurking about,
posting under pseudosyms. Or not. Either way, nothing really needs to
change. My opinion, at least.

And to me, the most uncomfortable part. It's a bit out of Buffy's usual fare.
Sure, I'm all for diversity of plots on this show, but do we want it to be so
much like X-Files in this way? I don't know. It's a bit of a cheat. We get
no satisfying ending. We get no definite conclusion as to what happened to her
and why. It's like all the worst parts of X-Files rolled into one.
Not to mention I could see it coming. =)

Okay, when I began watching this episode, I was starting to think, "This
isn't very good..." but boy, did it turn around quick! I mean, okay, so
it wasn't the BEST, but it still was great. The first feeling I got was
that Buffy wasn't feeling as cheery and perky as she usually is in the
beginning of most shows. She was in a dark mood from the start, and it
kinda got ME down. but I suppose the whole mood fit right into the story.
First off, my sister was watching with me and she pointed out that Mitch
looked like some guy from "Sweet Valley High" show. I don't watch it, but
I was wondering if anyone else thinks it's the same person from that show.
Secondly, whatever was said about Cordelia being a two-dimensional
character can now be scratched. This was a GREAT episode to sort of
"introduce" Cordelia and what's behind her ditziness. I'm SO glad they
the writers didn't change her around--in other words, they let her be
somewhat open to Buffy, but she didn't lose her personality in doing so.
I really enjoyed Cordelia and Buffy together; they make such a comedic duo
in a sense. They had some great interactions between the two. My favorite
scene HAD to be when Cordelia went and asked
Buffy and the Slayerettes for help!
Xander and Willow were being mighty friendlier than usual in this
episode--I mean, they acted more like old friends in this one. It was
funny when they were trying to reminisce in front of Buffy and they
couldn't stop laughing.
It's kind of funny that I rented BTVS movie this weekend because this show
referred back to her days as a popular cheerleader and just being popular.
It really showed she missed those days, since this show pretty much
portrayed her as a loser in the eyes of the school. Cordelia and her group
sneering at her, Principal Synder always down her back--although, I did
laugh when poor Buffy tripped and all her weapons spilled out!
As usual, great twist at the end. I am not an X-Files watcher so I can't
compare it to the show (but I heard the season finale was great), but I
did think of it when those two men popped in from the government. We live
in a corrupt world, don't we?
This show just had a great way of portraying a major and depressing
subject for school kids: being unpopular and unnoticed. I felt for
Marcia, too, at first--until she started pounding on Buffy!
Okay, I don't know if the previews for next week were the same for
everyone, but the ones I saw didn't tell me much at all! It seems like
it's going to be a repeat, although some scenes weren't familiar to me.
Then again, I never did get to watch the ENTIRE first episode. Could
someone clear this up for me?? I mean, with Angel showing up and stuff
and giving Giles the book....
QUESTION: If Buffy defeats the Master in the last episode, what is left
for Sunnydale? Would the Hellmouth be no more? It just doesn't seem like
there is much for a second season if the Master is defeated...

The problem is some people just wouldn't feel comfortable with it.
Let's say after a particular episode maybe one of the characters did a
poor job and we feel like discussing how bad his acting was. Would you
feel comfortable talking about it in front of the actor? It's the same
kind of thing as not wanting to tell someone they can't sing or they
smell bad. It might be the honest way, but not the most polite. Also,
No one expressed it as a nightmare, that's just exxageration on your
point. They were simply saying that they like the way things are now.
Plus, my main concern like most peoples, would be that I don't want the
mailing list turning out like the posting board does when Joss and
Alyson come on. It's nice to ask them questions, but if they joined the
list, we would have an extra 500 people join who didn't want to discuss
things, but just wanted to chat. I don't want 200 extra messages a day
saying, "CHARISMA YOU ARE SO HOT!" "SARAH I LOVE YOU PLEASE MARRY
ME!!!!" "ANGEL, E-MAIL ME, I LOVE YOU, PLEASE TAKE OFF YOUR SHIRT RIGHT
NOW AND TELL ME WHAT YOUR CHEST LOOKS LIKE!" You get the idea.

I just read an interview on Lisa Kudrow about how she and the rest of
the Friends cast have stopped going online because of all the negative
things they saw on it, mainly from things they heard in chat rooms while
pretending to be other people. That even turned them off to websites
devoted to them and the entire online experience.
> Give the idea a chance I say. Don't be afraid to try.
Try? Try what? Why are we even talking about this? The stars aren't
going to join the mailing list so it's pointless. I barely have enough
time to read 50 messages a day and I'm unemployed right now, and you
think that there's a chance the stars will have time to? Only a couple
of them even go online.
> They're also very busy so participation and monitoring
> of this mailing list would be a quick scan or minimal at best...although

You're right, in between shoots there is a lot of time. Lots of time
for photo shoots, promotions, doing other projects (Alyson, and Sarah
are both shooting movies right now), and trying to relax for a change.

Cordelia had some great lines on the Invisible Girl episode. She's such a
bitter person that she adds so much character to the show. She needs a larger
part.
It looks like Xander and Willow may be getting closer. They looked like a
couple in a some scenes.
I know Angle will be a full time character next season but what's he going to
do? Will he be part of the Giles, Willow and Xander team? Will he be an
expert like Giles? Will he slay liek Buffy? He certainly won't be a student
in the school. My fear is that the writers will try so hard to put him in the
show that the chemistry between the characters now will be destroyed.
Was it me or did Buffy seemed bummed about not being considered for the May
Queen (or whatever they called it)?

As with anyone else, they're welcome to join. As with anyone else, they are
asked to follow the list rules. As with anyone else, they have the right to
post and reveal their identity-- or not.
I've been on lists for years that have various celebrities involved--
sometimes it's good, sometimes it's not. I can think of one case where
negative posting quite probably had something to do with the death of a
show, and another case where the feedback was handled quite well. So it's a
crap shoot, really.
Anyway, all I'm saying is that everyone is welcome to join the list. The

Subject: BUFFY: Invisible Girl & Cordellia - SPOILERS
Hi, Everyone;
I have been lurking on this list for a few weeks. Due to my schedule, I
barely have time to read the messages from this list, much less reply to
anything.
This was a holiday weekend in Canada, so I though that I would try to set
down some thoughts on the latest episode, Invisible Girl.

After seein tonight's episode, I have to look at Cordelia in a whole new
way. This episode captured perfectly the teenage angst of being lost in a
crowd. It covered both ends of the same spectrum.
We have Buffy: going from the most popular girl in school to being a null
in the eyes of her contemporaries. She is new to the school, and aside from
Giles and the slayerettes, she knows nobody. Her lonliness is emphasised
when Joss showed us her exclusion from even Willow and Xander's shared past
experiences.
Cordelia, on the othe hand, is the most popular girl in school. Yet, even
with all of her social life, we see her lonliness and anxiety. This was the
most humanity the we have seen from the character. It was her finest moment
in the series, so far.
The "Men in Black" at the end, added a slightly different twist. The
"X-Files" feel to the ending was a surprise. Is there an invisible person
at every school? I think so.

Buffy used to be the most popular girl in her old school. Some of her
lonliness and insecurity is showing when she looks at Cordelia. Buffy
compares where she is now (hanging out in the library) to where she used to
be (May Queen). As the episode progresses, we see that Cordelia and Buffy's
feelings are almost the same. Two ends of the same circle.

Subject: BUFFY: The perils of popularity ('Invisible Girl' Spoilers)
Buffy: "Why do you work so hard at being popular?"
Cordelia: "Well, it beats being alone all by yourself."
I thought this episode worked surprisingly well, considering the
premise. When I saw the preview for tonight I thought, "Ah, invisible
person. Been there, done that." (I had a very similar reaction to the
Sid the Dummy episode.) As with the Sid the Dummy episode, though, I
was very pleased to find I was wrong.
"The Invisible Girl" reminded me a lot of my own high school experience;
although I never actually turned invisible myself, there were plenty of
times when I felt really...translucent.
One of the things that impressed me most about tonight's episode,
though, was the way it made the point that no one is immune to the
popularity problem. Even the suddenly surprisingly three-dimensional
Cordelia is lonely sometimes. And that she has a very, very
down-to-earth understanding of her popularity, and just how far it
goes. (Digressing, I thought it was great that she even has enough of a
soul that she thanked Buffy and the Slayerettes for saving her.
Granted, she dissed them immediately after, but the gratitude itself was
(I think) genuine. And a very nice touch.)
Buffy, too, noticably suffered from popularity problems. First, she's
reminded of some of what she's given up, in terms of things like being
May Queen, and going to dances, and the simple pleasures of being cool.
(The scene where she's hunting, and alone, and she looks through the
window and sees Cordelia and pals laughing was perfect. She seemed so
wistful.) Then she's reminded that even in her group, she's sort of an
outsider, because she hasn't known Xander and Willow since that field
trip in sixth grade ("it's fun that we're speaking in tongues").
Finally, she's even robbed of the luxury of thinking that Cordelia is a
shallow, vain airhead (this is how I survived my personal uncool phase,
btw). Instead, it turns out Cordelia is human, too.
And of course there's poor Marcie, who pays the ultimate price for
unpopularity, thanks to quantum physics and the hellmouth. You can't
really blame her for going crazy, I suppose, even if Cordelia's right
when she says, "she's evil, ok? Way eviler than me." It strikes me
that in a way you can interpret the end of the episode as a happy one,
for her. While invoking the FBI does make the whole thing rather "X
Files"-esque, it was a very good solution within the parameters of the
story. After all, Marcie's found a place where she can fit in, be, um,
noticed, and appreciated (as a spy and assassin, if nothing else). And
that's really all that she wanted all along.

I thought back to when Xander complained of the "Invisible man syndrome"
to willow, when Cordelia ignored him, several episodes ago (sorry forget
which episode) I wonder if it was a lead in or hint to this episode.
Cordelia almost had a human moment in this episode of how lonely it was in
a crowd. This has restored my faith that the Cordelia character has some
potential to develop....but into what?
And lastly buffy seemed to really miss the old days when she was the focus
of attention. Would she trade places with Cordelia, could she slip back into
her old self? hope not but interesting thought.

One "message" thing we see every week is the value of research and knowledge.
Not only is Giles' knowledge heavily relied upon, but Xander and Buffy have
both expressed delight when they "had knowledge."
Message: Knowledge is fun and cool, not to mention VERY useful at times!
