  141. This is my favorite episode! As a Cordelia fan, I naturally loved it because
  142. Cordelia was the star of the episode. I loved everything about this episode.
  143. The plot was great. The ending was hilarious, we all knew that Cordelia
  144. wouldn't hang with Buffy and her crew from now on. The script was well
  145. written, suspenseful, and humorous at the same time! I gave this episode a
  146. 10! This is my opinion.

  187. They may use those ideas yet. =)   Yeah, yeah, I saw it coming as soon as they 
  188. busted the doo down at the end, right to the trained assassin part. . .

  190. Joss Whedon has a knack for pulling out the little things in high school that 
  191. drove us all mad and were truths we never realized.  In this case, it was the 
  192. whole "Have a Nice Summer" bit.

  194. So does the Invisible Girl (forgot her name already - go fig, right?) know 
  195. Buffy is a slayer, or is that just from overhearing stuff circumstantially in 
  196. the library?

  198. Nice focus on Cordelia here.  She's definitely more than just a flat character 
  199. now.  (And the first person to make a pun on that based on chest sizes will be 
  200. promptly scolded by Bill. =)

  202. Buffy actually looked good in the boots this time. =)

  204. Lots of great one-liners.  "I think I speak for all of us when I say 'HUH?'"

  206. Giles now has the book with accurate prophecies, which will link directly into 
  207. the season finale where Buffy and the Master meet.  I hope it's a cliffhanger, 
  208. myself. A little bit of continuity and sub-plot going here.

  234. and not make a concerted effort to do one an episode and have a toll-free

  263. First this was not the best episode but a good
  264. episode overall here are my thoughts:
  265.  
  266. 1) Cordelia - wow did i misunderstand her. She
  267. has incredible low self-esteem. She is using
  268. being popular to having self-esteem. She has
  269. none. The way she let her boyfriend bully her
  270. around at the end was so sad. God i really
  271. hate men that do that to women!!! 
  272.  
  273. 2) Marcia being invisible - did that seem very
  274. X-Fileish to anyone. She became invisible because everyone ignored
  275. her.How different
  276. is she from Cordelia. Even though Marcia is
  277. physically invisible Cordelia is basically
  278. invisible to herself.

  280. 3) I loved the last scene with the invisible classroom. That came right
  281. out of an X-Files
  282. episode. Wow!!! That was the highlight of
  283. the show.
  284.  
  285. 4) Well the stage is set for a showdown between Buffy and the master.
  286. Angel basically
  287. gave Giles the ammo that they need. 
  288.  
  289. 5) Did the principal  have a very Quark like
  290. moment when he heard the term "Sue". The
  291. way he reacted was straight out of his 
  292. Quark character.

  308. And this person has just demonstrated what is, in my mind, the best
  309. solution to this problem. Covert presence.  It doesn't sound as nice to
  310. the people who *want* the actors on the list openly, but it is a much
  311. better alternative to those who don't want to see *any* actor presence
  312. on the list.  Since we don't know if they are or they aren't, an amazing
  313. thing will happen, we'll keep acting the same way as we are now! Free
  314. open disccusion with the possibility that the actors are lurking about,
  315. posting under pseudosyms.  Or not.  Either way, nothing really needs to
  316. change.  My opinion, at least.

  349. And to me, the most uncomfortable part.  It's a bit out of Buffy's usual fare.  
  350. Sure, I'm all for diversity of plots on this show, but do we want it to be so 
  351. much like X-Files in this way?  I don't know.  It's a bit of a cheat.  We get 
  352. no satisfying ending.  We get no definite conclusion as to what happened to her 
  353. and why.   It's like all the worst parts of X-Files rolled into one.

  402. Okay, when I began watching this episode, I was starting to think, "This
  403. isn't very good..."  but boy, did it turn around quick!  I mean, okay, so
  404. it wasn't the BEST, but it still was great.  The first feeling I got was
  405. that Buffy wasn't feeling as cheery and perky as she usually is in the
  406. beginning of most shows.  She was in a dark mood from the start, and it
  407. kinda got ME down.  but I suppose the whole mood fit right into the story.  
  408.  
  409. First off, my sister was watching with me and she pointed out that Mitch
  410. looked like some guy from "Sweet Valley High" show.  I don't watch it, but
  411. I was wondering if anyone else thinks it's the same person from that show.
  412.  
  413. Secondly, whatever was said about Cordelia being a two-dimensional
  414. character can now be scratched.  This was a GREAT episode to sort of
  415. "introduce" Cordelia and what's behind her ditziness.  I'm SO glad they
  416. the writers didn't change her around--in other words, they let her be
  417. somewhat open to Buffy, but she didn't lose her personality in doing so.
  418. I really enjoyed Cordelia and Buffy together; they make such a comedic duo
  419. in a sense. They had some great interactions between the two.  My favorite
  420. scene HAD to be when Cordelia went and asked
  421. Buffy and the Slayerettes for help!  
  422.  
  423. Xander and Willow were being mighty friendlier than usual in this
  424. episode--I mean, they acted more like old friends in this one.  It was
  425. funny when they were trying to reminisce in front of Buffy and they
  426. couldn't stop laughing.
  427.  
  428. It's kind of funny that I rented BTVS movie this weekend because this show
  429. referred back to her days as a popular cheerleader and just being popular.
  430. It really showed she missed those days, since this show pretty much
  431. portrayed her as a loser in the eyes of the school. Cordelia and her group
  432. sneering at her, Principal Synder always down her back--although, I did
  433. laugh when poor Buffy tripped and all her weapons spilled out!
  434.  
  435. As usual, great twist at the end.  I am not an X-Files watcher so I can't
  436. compare it to the show (but I heard the season finale was great), but I
  437. did think of it when those two men popped in from the government.  We live
  438. in a corrupt world, don't we? 
  439.  
  440. This show just had a great way of portraying a major and depressing
  441. subject for school kids: being unpopular and unnoticed.  I felt for
  442. Marcia, too, at first--until she started pounding on Buffy!
  443.  
  444. Okay, I don't know if the previews for next week were the same for
  445. everyone, but the ones I saw didn't tell me much at all!  It seems like
  446. it's going to be a repeat, although some scenes weren't familiar to me.
  447. Then again, I never did get to watch the ENTIRE first episode.  Could
  448. someone clear this up for me??  I mean, with Angel showing up and stuff
  449. and giving Giles the book....
  450.  
  451. QUESTION: If Buffy defeats the Master in the last episode, what is left
  452. for Sunnydale?  Would the Hellmouth be no more?  It just doesn't seem like
  453. there is much for a second season if the Master is defeated...

  497. The problem is some people just wouldn't feel comfortable with it.
  498. Let's say after a particular episode maybe one of the characters did a
  499. poor job and we feel like discussing how bad his acting was.  Would you
  500. feel comfortable talking about it in front of the actor?  It's the same
  501. kind of thing as not wanting to tell someone they can't sing or they
  502. smell bad.  It might be the honest way, but not the most polite.  Also,
  503. No one expressed it as a nightmare, that's just exxageration on your
  504. point.  They were simply saying that they like the way things are now.
  505. Plus, my main concern like most peoples, would be that I don't want the
  506. mailing list turning out like the posting board does when Joss and
  507. Alyson come on.  It's nice to ask them questions, but if they joined the
  508. list, we would have an extra 500 people join who didn't want to discuss
  509. things, but just wanted to chat.  I don't want 200 extra messages a day
  510. saying, "CHARISMA YOU ARE SO HOT!"  "SARAH I LOVE YOU PLEASE MARRY
  511. ME!!!!"  "ANGEL, E-MAIL ME, I LOVE YOU, PLEASE TAKE OFF YOUR SHIRT RIGHT
  512. NOW AND TELL ME WHAT YOUR CHEST LOOKS LIKE!"   You get the idea.

  521. I just read an interview on Lisa Kudrow about how she and the rest of
  522. the Friends cast have stopped going online because of all the negative
  523. things they saw on it, mainly from things they heard in chat rooms while
  524. pretending to be other people.  That even turned them off to websites
  525. devoted to them and the entire online experience.

  540. for photo shoots, promotions, doing other projects (Alyson, and Sarah
  541. are both shooting movies right now), and trying to relax for a change.

  582. Cordelia had some great lines on the Invisible Girl episode. She's such a
  583. bitter person that she adds so much character to the show. She needs a larger
  584. part.

  593. show that the chemistry between the characters now will be destroyed.

  790. After seein tonight's episode, I have to look at Cordelia in a whole new
  791. way. This episode captured perfectly the teenage angst of being lost in a
  792. crowd. It covered both ends of the same spectrum.
  793.  
  794. We have Buffy: going from the most popular girl in school to being a null
  795. in the eyes of her contemporaries. She is new to the school, and aside from
  796. Giles and the slayerettes, she knows nobody. Her lonliness is emphasised
  797. when Joss showed us her exclusion from even Willow and Xander's shared past
  798. experiences.
  799.  
  800. Cordelia, on the othe hand, is the most popular girl in school. Yet, even
  801. with all of her social life, we see her lonliness and anxiety. This was the
  802. most humanity the we have seen from the character. It was her finest moment
  803. in the series, so far.

  805. The "Men in Black" at the end, added a slightly different twist. The
  806. "X-Files" feel to the ending was a surprise. Is there an invisible person
  807. at every school?  I think so.

  970. I thought this episode worked surprisingly well, considering the
  971. premise.  When I saw the preview for tonight I thought, "Ah, invisible
  972. person.  Been there, done that."  (I had a very similar reaction to the
  973. Sid the Dummy episode.)  As with the Sid the Dummy episode, though, I
  974. was very pleased to find I was wrong.
  975.  
  976. "The Invisible Girl" reminded me a lot of my own high school experience;
  977. although I never actually turned invisible myself, there were plenty of
  978. times when I felt really...translucent.
  979.  
  980. One of the things that impressed me most about tonight's episode,
  981. though, was the way it made the point that no one is immune to the
  982. popularity problem.  Even the suddenly surprisingly three-dimensional
  983. Cordelia is lonely sometimes.  And that she has a very, very
  984. down-to-earth understanding of her popularity, and just how far it
  985. goes.  (Digressing, I thought it was great that she even has enough of a
  986. soul that she thanked Buffy and the Slayerettes for saving her. 
  987. Granted, she dissed them immediately after, but the gratitude itself was
  988. (I think) genuine.  And a very nice touch.)
  989.  
  990. Buffy, too, noticably suffered from popularity problems.  First, she's
  991. reminded of some of what she's given up, in terms of things like being
  992. May Queen, and going to dances, and the simple pleasures of being cool.
  993. (The scene where she's hunting, and alone, and she looks through the
  994. window and sees Cordelia and pals laughing was perfect.  She seemed so
  995. wistful.)  Then she's reminded that even in her group, she's sort of an
  996. outsider, because she hasn't known Xander and Willow since that field
  997. trip in sixth grade ("it's fun that we're speaking in tongues"). 
  998. Finally, she's even robbed of the luxury of thinking that Cordelia is a
  999. shallow, vain airhead (this is how I survived my personal uncool phase,
  1000. btw).  Instead, it turns out Cordelia is human, too.
  1001.  
  1002. And of course there's poor Marcie, who pays the ultimate price for
  1003. unpopularity, thanks to quantum physics and the hellmouth.  You can't
  1004. really blame her for going crazy, I suppose, even if Cordelia's right
  1005. when she says, "she's evil, ok?  Way eviler than me."  It strikes me
  1006. that in a way you can interpret the end of the episode as a happy one,
  1007. for her.  While invoking the FBI does make the whole thing rather "X
  1008. Files"-esque, it was a very good solution within the parameters of the
  1009. story.  After all, Marcie's found a place where she can fit in, be, um,
  1010. noticed, and appreciated (as a spy and assassin, if nothing else).  And
  1011. that's really all that she wanted all along.

  1139. to willow, when Cordelia ignored him, several episodes ago (sorry forget

  1143. a crowd. This has restored my faith that the Cordelia character has some
