Call Dave Chapman. Do you have his phone number from a Stinger cover or the

Bob, you have to remember, teachers always sit in the back of the room.
You don't get called on as much and it's closer to the door.(and
sometimes its the first to be served) Also teachers are the hardest to
quiet down, what they have to say is much more important than anything
that could come from the front of the room :-) Isn't that right
Devern :-) ;-)

Yeah, that's right. In fact, Dave C keeps asking me to MC the
banquet this year and I keep turning him down. However, if I had a
deep repertoire of Bobster jokes, anecdotes, and tales of great faux
paus on the Bobster's part, I just might be persuaded to move to
the front of the room. Send me your contributions off-list.
Bob, I have you in my sights..... squeezing gently.......

Tom;
I wish you luck with this. IMHO, Outlook is one of the least refined
and most problematic components of the Microsoft package. Even
when it's running well, it's still only a so-so product. You'd be
better off getting a *real* mail program and configuring Explorer to
use it for mail access (easy to do, just look in your preferences).
However, since most of the newer email packages are capable of
displaying mail in HTML format (gawd, how I hate html-based mail!)
I'm not sure why you'd want to mess with the browser at all.
Assuming you're on a Win95 PC, there are a number of good free
email programs available. I'd suggest giving Pegasus
(http://www.pegasus.usa.com) or Eudora Light (closest download
would be http://www.helpdesk.k12.ut.us/windows.htm) a try.
Good Luck,
DeVern

Bob, you should quit trying to be a "local authority."
So does this mean we will have a BMW trials bike?? It will have
great torque, lots of sex appeal, won't shift for sour apple butter,
will only be warranted for 3 events or 36 sections, whichever comes
first, and will still be running long after it's owners have stopped
finding things to complain about. Or will we see BMWs with
elastomeric motor mounts?? Perhaps a hybred machine
(BORTON?? BNORT?? NORMW??) combining the best features
of BMW (smoothness, reliability, handling, power) with the best
features of Norton (uhhh, uhhhhhhh, uuuhhhhhhhhhhhh......yellow
gas tanks? )?? Or maybe a Norton/KTM hybred, the NORTOM. It
will feature a chain drive system that is self-lubricated via
crankcase and primary cover leaks. What the hell, let's just throw
all of them into the mix and build a machine that has Italian switch
gear, Lucas electrics, and true knobby tires. Yeah, that's it, a
machine with British vibration and reliability, switch gear and
electricals that go belly up if it rains in the next county over, cobbly
rough sand castings and dirt bike styling, and those beautiful blue
and white rondels. Oooooohh, sign me up for two, and a hundred
shares of Mobil Oil to go. Hey, did you know that in Jolly Old
England motorcycles have to pass an emissions test.... with the
engine off and the bike parked in your garage?? Did you know that
you can potty train a british bike using a newspaper, a metal tray
and a few pounds of kitty litter?? Did you know that in Britain if
you mention "nocturnal emissions" it is understood to refer to what
your British bike does on the driveway overnight???
BMW missed their acquisition chance when they ignored Ducati
long enough to let the Texans step in. You know, Ducati--one of
the two most popular second bikes among BMW owners. (H-D
being the other). Imagine not wasting time and money designing
the ST2/ST4 and the R1100S... Imagine a 916 with rondels on the
tank and parts that you could actually purchase in the same
calendar year you ordered them..... Imagine the R11RS with all
the update money that was poured into the R11S.... Imagine a 916
with Telelever front end...... Aahhhh, the boys in Berlin missed
their chance.......

I thought some of you might be interested in this.
Last week while at the Ducati shop ,I ran into Chip (SLBMW)-
having Mark Cohan's Yellow K1200rs on the Dyno.
Turns out the k12 runs at 104 hp to the rear wheel,
not as much as many of us k1200 guy's had hoped
for. Chip explained that he (the shop)are going too
put a Remas sport pip on it ,and wanted to see
the hp difference before and after.About a hour later
Chip/dip returned with a much sportier sounding bike-
not at all offensive. On to the Dyno it goes.
The results were very impressive, 3 to 4 hp increase
at midrange, and a full 10 hp overall . The pip is around =
7 to 8 lb. lighter ,so there's additional 1 hp. So fer a little
more than half the price of a staintune ," you get more
power"......erff......erff....erff..!
Gota have one!!

indicated 112-114 horse puppies at the wheel. These numbers would be in
line with the difference in elevation. Bob, you need to buy a new
accessory anyway. It's been what? A week since your last purchase? I'm

Yeah, but Bob--that was a DUCATI dyno. We all know that Italian
horsepower are smaller than German horsepower. This is why the
Italians are always doing that swagger and machismo thing, to
make their horsepower seem larger. If you want accurate numbers
you need to truck your machine to a good GERMAN dyno and
make a few runs. My guess is that they probably put Italian gas in
your machine, too, before performing the dyno runs, and of course
we all know what happens when you run Italian gas!.
DeVern
PS: If you doubt my word on this you can prove it yourself. Just
buy a good German dyno (you don't have one yet, do you??),
install it in your garage, and invite your friends to bring their two-
wheeled spaghetti stretchers over for a run.

The pip is around
7 to 8 lb. lighter ,so there's additional 1 hp. So fer a little
more than half the price of a staintune ," you get more
power"......erff......erff....erff..!

That doesn't make them exciting or fast. It's the rider who's fast, or
crazy. Just look at Reg Pridmore blow everyone away on VFR with a pillio=
n
on back. You intimated it, they are bikes for "old timers" -- over-price=
d
and over-weight, but comfortable and fast enough for the individual who i=
s
not ready for that Gold Wing, yet can no longer stand the pain of a Ducat=
i
or considers a VFR slumming it. I've owned BMW's (back in the mid-70's
when they were still the best handling and fastest bikes around) and don'=
t
think they are misunderstood.
Admittedly, Ducati's are overly-fast and over-sexed for my own good. But=
they are too fun and give me a great workout when I ride in exchange for
some minor pain and stiffness the morning. Much cheaper than a trophy wi=
fe
and she'll never ask me to start another family -- "honey, wouldn't you
like to have a little Monster running around." Er, forget what I said
about kids. Damn, maybe I should've gotten a BMW after all. Anyway,
remember it's all about two wheels, not what you ride.
Gotta go, gotta ride.

Hey, Bob-- those Duc guys are just pissed because BMW won't
lend an air of authenticity to the R1100S by embedding a dead fly
in the yellow paint....
DeVern
PS: When do most Duc guys participate in motorcycle
discussions ?? Pick one:
A. When they're waiting in line at the chiropracter's office.
B. When they're waiting for the mechanic to remove the heads on
the Duc and adjust the clearances on the desmo works??
C. When they meet at the shop on Saturdays to find out how
many more weeks they have to wait for their parts.
D. While waiting in line at the insurance adjuster's office (I recall
seeing a published insurance industry stat showing over 50% of
new Ducs are crashed in the first year of ownership)
The quiz is on...

There are two statutes in a Park, one is male and one is female and they have
been starring at each other for almost one hundred years. An angel comes by
and makes them alive and gives them 10 minutes to do anything they want. They
come back in 5 minutes and the angel says, don't you want the other 5 minutes
the male turns to the female and says, Ok, only this time you hold down the
pigeon, while I shit on it.

Laughing?? Hell, I'm tipping my hat in admiration. One who finally
came to his senses-- not too many people get to pull off a job
change where they get a raise as well as reduce their blood
pressure and personal safety risks, all in one fell swoop. :^)
Sorry you won't be able to make it, I was really looking forward to
seeing you and Lila again and kicking tires about the R80ST.

This is good news. While I never attend the rally at Hepner, I know
that the roads around Hepner are great but the rally site left
something to be desired. Only problem is, I'll bet the rally will once
again fall on the same weekend as the Utah 1088 and I'm already
committed to that. Maybe in 2000...

It would be helpful if you guys could call the council people
on the list and tell them they should vote for Park City Motorcycle
Week. A strong positive input will finally put one of the premier
motorcycle events in the country right in your home state. If you call
and get the councilpersons answering machine, just leave a message
supporting the event-you do not need to mention that you do not live in
Park City if that is the case-just your name. All three coucil members
should be called.
The event will include AHRMA Vintage Roadraces, Motorcross, Trials,
in Park City and Flat Track in Heber. A Concours and demo rides from
various motorcycle manufacturers and parts & accessory mnfrs. will also
be included. Any questions, give me a call: 435.649.7169 or check the
website at www.parkcitymotorcycle.com
Cheers,
Tom Kullen
