  48. The Senior Associates mailing list that I created here at xmission
  49. will soon close, unless people start actively using it.

  51. This list never really took off because Foresight never really
  52. bothered to tell anyone about the list and the few people who did know
  53. about it never really started any discussions here.

  55. Its rather disappointing to me personally that Foresight chose to
  56. put so much energy into things like "palace chat" and so-on rather
  57. than pursue the main "internet killer app" format of a mailing list.
  58. Perhaps I'm just a technology laggard, but things like crit and
  59. nanodot just don't spark as much interest in me as a relatively "low
  60. tech" mailing list.  Its very trendy tehse days to webify all
  61. possible interaction with the computer, but this isn't necessarily a
  62. good thing.

  64. My intent in creating this mailing list was to provide a forum where
  65. SAs could discuss nanotechnology issues in a dufus-free forum (i.e.
  66. we wouldn't have to spend lots of energies explaining why nanotech is
  67. feasible and/or probable in the near future).  Public forums on
  68. nanotech always seem to suffer from the dufus factor and it was my
  69. additional hope that this forum would allow for cogent discussions
  70. among SAs themselves before/after group meetings and so-on.
  71.  
  72. However, this list can't go anywhere if Foresight isn't interested in
  73. telling Senior Associates about its existence -- I don't have a list
  74. of all the SAs mail addresses in order to tell them myself.  AFAIK it
  75. hasn't ever been mentioned in any of Eric's letters to SAs nor is it
  76. ever mentioned at any of the gatherings or on any of Foresight's
  77. literature sent to SAs.  That pretty much guarantees that noone will
  78. use it since they remain ignorant of its existence.
  79.  
  80. So unless those few of you who are on this list start using it as a
  81. forum for discussion among SAs, I will close this list in the next few
  82. weeks.
