  3. This diskette contains the Treasury Department's bond pricing
  4. application (CRV) which allows microcomputer users to determine current
  5. redemption values for Series EE/E savings bonds and savings notes by entering
  6. denomination, issue date, and series information.  The program was designed
  7. for use with an IBM-compatible microcomputer with MS or PC-DOS, Version 2.0
  8. or higher and at least 384K of memory.  As the program runs, you should follow
  9. the instructions given in the prompts and enter the required information.  The
  10. program will return the current redemption value for each item as well as
  11. provide a running total of the redemption values and interest accumulated for
  12. each bond pricing transaction.

  15. Installing and Running CRV from a Hard (Fixed) Disk

  18.     Although CRV can be run from the provided diskette, we strongly suggest
  19.     that you install and run it from a hard disk drive.  CRV will respond
  20.     much faster on a hard disk.

  23.    To Install CRV on a Hard Disk Drive
  24.    ───────────────────────────────────

  26.       1.  Insert the program diskette in a 3 1/2", 1.44 megabyte diskette drive.
  27.  
  28.       2.  Change the default drive to the drive in which you have inserted the
  29.           diskette and type:
  30.  
  31.              install
  32.  
  33.           and press ENTER.
  34.  
  35.           For example, if the diskette is in drive A, type:

  39.           and press ENTER, then at the A:\> prompt, type:
  40.  
  41.              install
  42.  
  43.           and press ENTER.

  45.       3.  INSTALL asks the user to provide appropriate responses to a series of
  46.           questions.  After the answers have been provided, INSTALL will copy
  47.           files from the diskette to your hard disk drive. The INSTALL program
  48.           will display the file names as the files are copied.

  50.       4.  When the installation is successfully completed, a message will
  51.           indicate that the files have been copied onto the hard disk drive and
  52.           you will hear three beeps to indicate that the installation routine is
  53.           complete.

  56.    To Run CRV from the Hard Disk
  57.    ─────────────────────────────

  59.       1.  At the hard disk drive prompt, change to the directory where the
  60.           program files were installed. For example, if the program files were
  61.           installed using the default settings, i.e., on the "C" drive in a
  62.           directory called "CRV," at the C:\> prompt you would type:

  64.              cd\crv
  65.  
  66.           and press ENTER.

  68.       2.  At the C:\CRV> prompt, type:

  72.           and press ENTER to start CRV.

  74.       3.  As the program runs, follow the instructions given in the prompts
  75.           and enter the requested information. The program offers a series of
  76.           function keys, including a "HELP" function, which are listed in a
  77.           menu at the bottom of the bond pricing screen.

  79.       4.  When you conclude a pricing transaction, exit from the program and,
  80.           at the C:\CRV> prompt, type:

  84.           and press ENTER if you wish to return to the root directory on the
  85.           hard disk.
