what it calls an alternative to Apple's "Learn to Play" feature in
GarageBand '09, offering pro/celebrity music instruction. iPerform
3D's solution is the 3D Guitar Learning System, which is Mac and
Windows compatible.
iPerform3D's newly launched 3D Guitar Learning System uses
motion-capture and 3D animation technology. The company says this
marks the first time that sophisticated motion-capture technology --
previously limited to big-budget film and video game companies like
Sony and Electronic Arts -- is available beyond rarified videogame
and entertainment circles via a patented application of the
technology.
Unlike DVDs or online video lessons, this system gives guitarists
complete control, allowing them to rotate and zoom the "virtual"
camera to any angle, even "behind" and "through" the instructor's

extended technology, has released the Duplica XTension for
QuarkXPress 8. Badia Duplica allows users to sample and apply text
and item attributes using multiple clipboards.
Users choose the attributes they wish to copy, and then use the
eyedroppers to duplicate the same styling in other parts of the
document. More than 80 attributes are available to pick from for
characters, paragraphs, pictures, boxes, lines and pages. Duplica
also allows users to copy text without formatting, and transform and
step-and-repeat items using the built-in Clone tool.
New to Duplica 4.0 for QuarkXPress 8 is the ability to sample a
multiple range of character and paragraph attributes. Then, with a
single click of the mouse, users can apply the sequence of attributes
again to unformatted text. Now users can format tables, catalogues,
annual reports, technical books or any complex document.

Apple's iWork and iLife applications, has released Keynote Motion
Themes 5.0 to be used with Apple's Keynote presentation
software. Keynote is part of Apple's US$79 iWork bundle.
iPresentee presents five new Keynote themes: Snow, Dancing Lights,
Bubble, Mine and Earth. What's more, the company is offering a free
Winter Keynote Motion Theme. The new release extends iPresentee's
Keynote themes collection up to 62 themes.
Each Keynote Motion Theme includes from 16 to 18 master slide layouts
and moving background graphics. The themes offer a variety of
presentation styles with coordinated fonts, colors, backgrounds,
bullets and picture frames. Keynote Motion Themes can stand alone to
unify a presentation or can be mixed together with other non-motion
themes to provide breakpoints.

Live TV shows live television in an optimized

is registered with The Tube, all currently
available TV channels will be available with a

channels in "Live TV" and even start a recording,

two software products for use in Apple's Aperture.
Knoll Light Factory generates lighting effects that enhance the
natural or man-made lighting in photographs. ToonIt! Photo creates
cartoon-like images from photographs. Both products are currently
also available for Adobe Photoshop and Photoshop Elements.
Aperture gives photographers the ability to manage large groups of
images and work with RAW files. By using image processing filters
like ToonIt and Knoll Light Factory directly in this environment,
it's easy to design with multiple images and compare the results side

modem with memory stick functionality for Mac OS X computers. The
iCON 431 supports most kinds of mobile connection speeds and can be
used worldwide.
It has a silver/black color scheme and features a microSD card slot
so can be used as a memory stick with up to 8GB memory, says Jan
Fuellemann of nova media. The iCON 431 supports download rates with
up to 7.2 Mbit/second and upload rates with up to 2 Mbit/s. For
future compatibility, it's upgradeable to support high upload speeds
with up to 5.76 Mbps.
The iCON 431 includes the Internet connect wizard launch2net for Mac
OS X, which offers a one-click connection to the Internet without the
need to enter cryptic configuration details. launch2net already
includes connection settings for most mobile network providers

stand-alone HDD Cruiser, a hard disk drive duplicator and sanitizer
all in one unit.
The 1:5 HDD Cruiser will duplicate up to five HDDs simultaneously. It
can also sanitize up to six HDDs to assure that confidential data is
unreadable, according to Perry Solomon,president and CEO of Aleratec.
The sanitizing capability is particularly important with the rapid
advancement hard drives, and upgrading drives in systems is
commonplace, he adds.

says is the first open source client for virtual desktop
infrastructure, VMware View Open Client. VMware View enables IT
organizations to host user desktops in the datacenter, while letting
users access their personalized desktop environments from almost any
device, at any time, says Jocelyn Goldfein, vice president and
general manager of VMware's Desktop Business Unit.
Now, VMware is providing VMware View Open Client for partners,
enabling them to use VMware View source code to optimize their
products to deliver virtual desktops to users. In addition, partners
will be able to use the source code to help accelerate the
development and delivery of solutions for enterprises to provision
and manage thousands of virtual desktops simply, securely and at

download, Canto announced today. Many improvements and fixes will be
clearly apparent to users and administrators, while other updates
were seeded to ease the transition to the advanced architecture
updates coming in the company's next major product release, Cumulus 8.
In all, more than 130 additions, changes and fixes were logged for
the update, which Canto recommends for all Cumulus customers. Most
notable among the product's new capabilities is the ability for
Cumulus to send automated email notifications when category
assignments are made or changed. This enables organizations who use
Cumulus categories for project management (in addition to digital
asset management) to keep selected employees up to date as assets
move through their development pipelines.
Enhanced metadata support is now available for Microsoft Visio. When
