New high speed interface signals will be assigned on the second row of pins of select SDXC and SDHC memory cards offering the new speed. This option will be available in both full-size and micro form factors and does not change the physical size or shape of the cards. This design will be part of the forthcoming SD 4.0 specification, expected in early 2011.

The research group spoke with the vendors directly, physically inspected the packaging, devices, and accessories of mobile phone manufacturers, and leveraged published corporate responsibility reports and other corporate and product environmental reports as available.
IDC (http://www.idc.com) also reviewed other third-party rating and watchdog sites such as ENERGY STAR and Greenpeace. To better understand where the mobile industry stands on sustainability, IDC used five criteria (packaging, materials, energy, end-of-life program, and overall sustainability efforts) and 20 sub-criteria to create a green ranking of 10 key mobile device manufacturers. The new iPod touch features up to 40 hours of music playback and seven hours of video playback on a single battery charge. Windows remains dominant with 91.34% as of August. That's up from from 91.32% in July. Apple's highest percentage previously was 5.27% in October 2009.
When it comes to browsers, Safari had 5.16% in August compared to 5.09% in July, while Internet Explorer had 60.40% Firefox had 22.93% and Chrome had 7.52%. That compares to, respectively, July percentages of 60.74%, 22.91% and 7.16%, for the browsers.
The iOS's market share also rose, according to NetMarketShare. It had 1.13% of the global market share in August compared to 1.06% in July. That's an all time high.

The latest figures show us that over two thirds of Mac users on Steam own a MacBook or MacBook Pro, another 23 percent use an iMac.
Overall 72% of processors at Valve are Intel, while the majority (59%)of graphics cards in Gamerland come from Nvidia. Also, 32.73% of users were still using Windows XP.
According to the survey, 45.78% of Mac users are gaming on a MacBook Pro, 23.18% are using an iMac, 20.25% a MacBook, 5.41% a Mac Pro and 3.44% a Mac mini.

Apparently, you'll need a Mac with an Intel processor.
"We are not likely to be supporting PowerPC," said Mike Beltzner, director of Firefox, in a message Tuesday on the Mozilla.dev.planning discussion group. "[But] no announcement has been made yet, as I'd like to have the data to back it up, and am having trouble getting it."</div></div></span>

The latest announcement makes it clear that royalties will continue not to be charged for such video beyond that time. The company now expects third-quarter revenue to be US$11.0 billion, plus or minus $200 million, compared to the previous expectation of between $11.2 and $12.0 billion.
Revenue is being affected by weaker than expected demand for consumer computers in mature markets. Inventories across the supply chain appear to be in-line with the company’s revised expectations.
The company’s expectation for third-quarter gross margin is now 66%, plus or minus a point, lower than the previous expectation of 67%, plus or minus a couple of points. The impact of lower volume is being partially offset by slightly higher average selling prices stemming from solid enterprise demand.
Equity investments, interest and other is expected to be $175 million, consistent with the company’s revised expectation reported on Form 8-K filed July 16. All other expectations for the third quarter remain unchanged.

This update addresses issues in Keynote, Pages, and Numbers, and adds export compatibility to Pages with the standard ePub file format (for use with iBooks).


Apple says the update is recommended for users of iWork 9.0, 9.0.1, 9.0.2, and 9.0.3. it's a 63.44MB download and requires Mac OS X 10.5.6 or higher. iWork 9.0.4 can be obtained by using the Software Updates component of Mac OS X's Systems Preferences app.</div></div></span>
<span class="field-content"><div class="body-row" id="body-row-205097"><div style="background:#F5F5F5;">Apple has released Apple released MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.9 (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1098). This update is recommended for all 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pro mid 2010 models.
According to Apple, the update resolves a rare issue that may cause the system to freeze during startup or intermittently stall during operation, and it improves compatibility with external displays.

The MacBook Pro EFI Update will update the EFI firmware on your MacBook Pro. Your computer's power cord must be connected and plugged into a working power source. When your MacBook Pro restarts a gray screen will appear with a status bar to indicate the progress of the update. It will take several minutes for the update to complete. Don't disturb or shut off the power on your MacBook Pro during this update.

The folks at BeLight say that Advanced Encryption Standard (AES-256) should be used as the highest level of protection, while AES-128 is a good alternative when faster encryption is required and lower security level is acceptable. Blowfish encryption is thought to be a happy medium by providing sufficient security and a quick encryption process.

Analyst Brian Marshall recommended selling Apple’s January 2012 US$230 puts, which fell 1.2 percent to $38.39 yesterday. Selling a put, which gives the right to sell, is a bet that the stock will rise, allowing the seller to keep the premium paid, notes "Bloomberg." The shares gained 1.2 percent to $242.89.
“The No. 1 driver of the stock over the next 12 months will be continued penetration into the smartphone segment, especially in the international market where their penetration is much less compared with the U.S.,” Marshall said in an interview with "Bloomberg."</div></div></span>
