In remarks Tuesday before the Council on Foreign Relations, Seidenberg cited a recent "Wall Street Journal" report that said Apple is working on a version of the iPhone that would be compatible with Verizon's network, reports the Associated Press (http://www.courant.com/technology/sns-ap-us-tec-apple-verizon-iphone,0,4...?). However, he didn't confirm the report or give any details.
The "Wall Street Journal" claims Apple is developing a new iPhone to debut this summer and also appears to be working on a model for Verizon Wireless. "People briefed on the matter" told the "WSJ" that one of the new iPhones is being manufactured by Taiwanese contract manufacturer Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., which produced Apple's previous iPhones. And the iPad will play a key role.
Dramatic increases in the size of the slate-style market are expected to be driven by the iPad and slates from other brands that are expected to be launched this year. DisplaySearch expects slates to take some market share from clamshell-style netbooks, as well as lure customers that desire more functionality away from the e-reader market. The company also foresees the majority of slate volume to ship into the North American and Western European markets due, in large part, to Apple’s distribution plans and known content agreements.
The mini-note/netbook/slate category will be the fastest-growing segment of the portable computer market for 2010, propelled in part by the introduction of slates, says DisplaySearch. However, clamshell style devices will continue to grow as...</div></div></span>

And they find it's a tight race between Apple and Google.
Taken last week from a pool of Appcelerator’s 33,000+ application developers, 1,028 developers responded about their plans to prioritize iPad development within an increasingly fragmented and competitive landscape. This survey is posted at http://www.appcelerator.com/mobile-developer-survey .

The Titanium Tablet will enable web developers to build 100% native iPad applications The findings show that the mobile platform landscape has evolved significantly during this first quarter. With the Sprint Overdrive 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot, you can surf the web on your new iPad up to 10 times faster than 3G or turn your iPod touch with Skype into a voice phone and make a call, says Matt Carter, president of Sprint 4G. Not only does the Overdrive enhance everything your favorite device was built for, it also connects up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices such as your computer, game console or camera, he adds.
“When coupled with Sprint’s 4G technology, any Wi-Fi-enabled device will be faster than 3G,” Carter says. “It will be six months to a year or longer before any other national wireless carrier can connect a Wi-Fi-enabled tablet like the iPad with up to four more wireless devices simultaneously at 4G speeds like the Overdrive can do today.”
Currently, Sprint 4G covers 28 major markets such as Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Las Vegas...</div></div></span>

There's a video of the cases at http://tinyurl.com/HCCBubbleShell that details the production process of the first Bubble Sleeves.
“We wanted to create a case that had more style and protection than the typical neoprene sleeve," says Hard Candy Cases CEO Tim Hickman. "We took it a step further by custom molding rubber feet inside the case that add 2-3x the drop protection, and which allowed us to start manufacturing the casing earlier."
Crafted with detailed stitching and zipper, the EVA molded, rigid Bubble Sleeve features shock absorbing fitted rubber bumpers to keep the iPad securely in place. A soft, padded interior lining protects the Multi-Touch display. The Bubble Sleeve is available in green, pink and black and retails for US$49.95. Support for HTML6 builds on the company’s adherence to HTML5 video standards, which enable the VMIX platform to deliver video to mobile devices like the iPhone, iPad and Google’s Android.
“While HTML5 video dealt more broadly with opening up standards for video and providing an alternative to Flash, HTML6 will focus specifically on making those interactive, sense-driven aspects of video that we have only imagined a firm reality,” says Greg Kostello, founder and chief technical officer at VMIX.
In addition to addressing minor data-logging and SEO challenges found in HTML5, Kostello identified a handful of consumer features that he expects clients and their audiences will welcome with HTML6:

Six percent plan on buying one within a year, equating to a sale of about seven million units, and 1% said they will purchase one as soon as it becomes available, which would translate to a sale of approximately one million units.
The findings in ORC’s survey correspond closely with market analyst predictions that five million iPads will be sold in 2010. Based on the results of ORC’s research, it is clear that a significant number of tech-hungry consumers are interested in an iPad in the short-term, but what does this mean for the long-term success of the product?
“Adoption of new technologies is often a slow and gradual process,” says Kevin Wood, vice president and senior analyst with ORC’s technology practice. “It wasn’t that long ago when the Blackberry smartphone was only used by executives and road warriors....</div></div></span>
