El Segundo, Calif.-based NetAirus lodged its complaint Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. contending that Apple’s iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS products infringe on its patent. The patent in question was granted to NetAirus on September 5, 2006 and seems to cover the broad concept of a “Wireless Handset Communication System."

According to the report, among operating systems, Mac OS X had 5.32% of the global market share in April, compared to 5.33% in March (that's global market share; in the US it's almost 10 %). Windows remains dominant with 91.46% as of April. That's down from 91.58% in March. Apple's highest percentage previously was 5.27% in October 2009, so March's number is an all-time high.
When it comes to browsers, Safari had 4.72% in April, while Internet Explorer had 59.95% Firefox had 24.59% and Chrome had 6.73%. That compares to, respectively, March percentages of 60.65, 24.52 and 6.13%, for the browsers.

In version 3.1, the Witch panel appears after a very short delay, so it can be used (as with Command-Tab) to toggle between two open windows without seeing the Witch panel flash onscreen. A major memory leak has been identified and plugged. Witch no longer uses increasing amounts of RAM over time, and uses less RAM overall than version 3.0.

"[The Apple Stores] have become a magnet in attracting Windows users to the Mac platform," says Wolf.
He says that -- as Apple Chief Financial Officer Peter Oppenheimer has said -- that Windows users purchased half of the 606,000 Macs sold in the stores during the March quarter, he added. Needham estimates that, since 2004, more than 18 million Windows users have switched to a Mac.
"Mac sales in the March quarter were almost four times higher than they were in the second quarter of fiscal 2004," wrote Wolf. He adds that Windows switchers have more than doubled the size of the Mac installed base.

In fact, it's believed that the company's technology contributed as much or more to the A4 processor in the iPad than the technology from P.A. Semi (another company bought by Apple) did.
Intrinsity is a privately-held Austin, Texas based fabless semiconductor company. It was founded in 1997 as EVSX and changed its name to Intrinsity in 2000. It has around 100 employees and supplies tools and services.
“Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time, and we do not comment on our purpose or plans,” Steve Dowling, a spokesman at Apple, told the "Times." And Tom R. Halfhill, an analyst with Microprocessor Report, told the publication he believed the acquisition price was US$121 million.

The Korea Communications Commission did say that Customs rules still apply. The country's Customs Service is holding up shipments that contain more than five iPads at once. South Korea’s communications regulators haven’t approved the device for wireless networking in the country.

The CEA-CNET Index of Consumer Expectations (ICE) rose to 164.1 points in April, an increase of more than one point. The ICE, which measures consumer expectations about the broader economy, is down more than four points from this time last year. Although there was a small improvement from last month’s lowest point of the year, the figures still reflect consumers’ hesitation towards the overall economy.
The CEA-CNET Index of Consumer Technology Expectations (ICTE) fell in April to 72.3, down more than 11 points from last month. The ICTE is at its lowest level since reaching an all-time low in March 2009. The ICTE is down more than five points from this time last year.

The Android platform has experienced significant growth in monthly traffic over the past year. Android traffic has grown at a compounded monthly growth rate of 32% per month, going from 72 million requests in March 2009 to 2.0 billion in March 2010.

Last month the Taiwanese maker of chips and touch-screens asked the U.S. trade agency to ban the import and sale of some Apple products, including the iPad, because of alleged patent infringement. The company claims Apple “knowingly and deliberately” used Elan’s technology, while continuing to introduce infringing products The petition also seeks to ban imports of the iPhone and iPod touch products, Elan said in the complaint.
