She is threatening legal action against the developers, Apalon of Belarus.</p>

<p>Developed and built in China, the Apple Peel 520 fits onto the iPod touch. It's got a dock connector, battery, and slot for a SIM card. There's an API and some disruptive tech in the form of a photo submission screen where street problems can be submitted directly. Because it's open data, you don't have to wait 6 months for the routing to be fixed if there's a bug. Android and .mobi versions are in the works, with the apps being done on GitHub."

The new software also features a gestures tab for controlling an Apple TV with iOS-like flick and drag motions.</p>
<p>The new app also supports Home Sharing, an easier method for sharing and streaming your media that Apple introduced in iTunes 9. If you enable Home Sharing in Remote 2.0 on your iPhone or iPad, it will automatically discover and let you control shared libraries on your network from a Mac or PC running iTunes, or a new Apple TV.</p>

It's been Apple TV-palooza here at TUAW today. A few years back, a certain late night host popularized a word that may or may not be in your dictionary: truthiness. Stephen Colbert was referring to what has become a very effective political tool, namely, statements that many people will accept as true because they feel right, even if they have no basis in reality. A small cottage industry has since sprung up to evaluate the amount of truth that exists in a potentially truthy statement (<a href="http://politifact.com/">Politifact</a> is probably the best example). Now, a bunch of academics at Indiana are attempting to use a combination of crowd-sourcing, Twitter, and automated text and network analysis to bring instances of political truthiness out into the open.

You'd be forgiven for believing the opposite -- iTunes is arguably Apple's strongest brand, given that it encompasses <em>all </em>of the "mobile device company's" products, and remains the springboard for all iPhones, iPods, and iPads, even across into Windows-land. That's right -- Office for Mac 2011 <a href="http://blog.officeformac.com/office-for-mac-2011-available-october-26/">now has an on-sale date</a>; it's October 26th, which is just about a month away. The suite will be the first Mac OS X version that offers Outlook rather than Entourage, and it will come in a few different flavors. Home and Student 2011 will be available for US$119 (or $149 for a three-copy family pack), and it will come with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Messenger. Home and Business 2011 will have the whole enchilada and will sell for $199 (or $279 for a two-install pack).</p>
<p>The announcement came with the cheery video above, which runs through a few new features of the software and shows you a few of the kind folks running the Mac Business Unit. Kindle for the Web is just a way to encourage people to preview the first chapter of a Kindle-format book in a Web browser, after which they can purchase the ebook for reading on a Kindle device or in Kindle software on a Mac, iOS device, or Windows-based PC. It's a smart move on Amazon's part, and notably different from how Apple has restricted access to the iBookstore to the iBooks app.

<a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/piperush/id392663147?mt=8">PipeRush</a> is a fun little title that we haven't yet seen the likes of (as far as I know) on the iPhone. I remember this kind of game as <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pipe_Mania">Pipe Dream</a>, though you may know it by a number of different names. The idea is that you're given a queue of pieces, and then your job is to assemble them in such a way that they all match up and allow water to flow within a certain time period. PipeRush doesn't add too much to this formula (though there are some power-ups to play with as you go through the levels), but what it does bring is a nice bit of polish. There's a cute lead character in Pippa, the pipe-laying plumber, and the graphics are simple and sparkly as you go along. Achievements and scoreboards are handled by Crystal, but with star ratings to chase across the game's 15 or so levels, I found plenty to do.</p>

First, as expected, there's no SpringBoard.app in Core Services. SpringBoard is the application that runs your iPhone's home screen, letting you launch applications by touching them. Instead, Apple TV seems to run Lowtide, an application responsible for all user interactions, which is derived from the previous Front Row application. Lowtide handles media playback, rentals, DRM management (Fair Play, of course), and other basic services.

It has a number of significant new features, including Retina Display support, an all-new iPad UI, gesture-based remote control support for the new Apple TV, and (perhaps most significantly for some people) the ability to use Home Streaming to stream content from an iTunes library on your local network to your iOS device (<strong>UPDATE</strong>- please see note below). This last addition will be really useful for people with music libraries that are too large to fit on their device.</p>

Most defragging is done in the background by the OS. There is one caveat: OS X does not defragment files larger than 20 MB. Quite often, many game files are easily larger than 20 MB. Fragmentation of game files will negatively impact performance of games, particularly FPS games.<br />

Valve has included a defragmenter in the <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/about/">Steam</a> client. Each game installed can be selected and right clicked to bring up the properties box. Once in the Properties box, select the Local Files tab and click Defragment Cache Files to begin defragmenting the game.<br />

It lets you remotely access other computers, whether they be UNIX, Mac, Linux, Windows, or any other type of box. All the other box needs is a VNC server, which Macs have built in since 10.4.<br />

However, using this app directly is often a pain. You have to open it up, create a new session, type in the URL/IP, and then possibly authenticate. If you, like me, are accustomed to using Terminal for most of your tasks, there is an easier and quicker way: use the "open" command, which is built in to OSX.<br />

<p>The official Google Voice application for iPhone has finally been granted acceptance into the App Store by Apple.</p>
<p>Per <a href="http://techcrunch.com/2010/09/27/google-voice-iphone-3/">TechCrunch</a>, a source stated that the application will be released in the next few weeks. Apple reportedly accepted the application submitted in mid-2009, though Google plans to update it to support the iPhone 4 and multitasking capabilities in iOS 4.</p>
<p>Last week, applications that access the Google Voice service began appearing in the App Store, after being banished for more than a year. The first two that became available were GV Mobile + and GV Connect.</p>
