I ignored the iTunes 10 update that was available. After the update, I could no longer access any websites, webdav iCal shares, or even connect to the Software Update server! I assume that the security update works for most people without doing anything harmful, but the only way I got Internet access back was by installing an earlier combo update at the Apple Store.<br />
I spent all weekend trying everything I could think of. <p>Per sources close to the story, Apple has agreed to implement an opt-in function to allow subscribers to share their personal information with publications. Print publications rely on that information to share demographic data with advertisers.</p>

Pro Applications Update 2010-02 provides bug fixes and improvements and is recommended for users of Final Cut Studio, Final Cut Server, and Logic Studio. After the update, version numbers are listed as Final Cut Pro 7.0.3, Motion 4.0.3, Color 1.5.3, Compressor 3.5.3, and Apple QMaster 3.5.3. The Final Cut app updates include support for new cameras. </p>
<p>The update can be downloaded either through Software Update (where it will appear if you have one of the applications installed) or by going to the <a target="_blank" href="http://support.apple.com/kb/DL949">update Web page on the Apple site</a>. </p>

A site called <a href="http://www.letemsvetemapplem.eu/">Letem Svetem Applem</a> has put together some performance comparison videos with the iPhone 4 and the new iPod touch, and the results may surprise you. In the startup speed test, the iPad actually beat all of the other iDevices, and the new iPod touch barely beats the iPhone 4 (but all of them were faster than last year's iPhone 3GS, so your upgrade was not in vain). The iPod touch's camera looks slightly darker than the iPhone 4's, and perhaps most interesting, the displays of the iPhone 4 and iPod touch look pretty different. The Retina Display on the iPod touch looks just as sharp, but without <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TFT_LCD#In-plane_switching_.28IPS.29">the in-plane switching tech</a> found on the iPhone and the iPad, the sides of the display are slightly muddier.</p>

They created a set of 3D graphics and then programmed the iPad to show <a href="http://berglondon.com/blog/2010/09/14/magic-ipad-light-painting/">a set of cross sections, frame-by-frame</a>, of those graphics. The cross sections were "painted" into the air with long exposure photographs, and then the photographs were all put together into <a href="http://www.dentsulondon.com/blog/2010/09/14/light-painting/">a stop motion animation</a>.</p>

Developer KB made a series of blog posts about <a href="http://www.literatureandlatte.com/blog/?p=133">what will</a> and <a href="http://www.literatureandlatte.com/blog/?p=104">will not</a> be featured in the upcoming <a href="http://www.literatureandlatte.com/scrivener.html">Scrivener 2.0</a>. What I like is that he's not so focused on introducing new features, but improving on what's already there. The addition of multitasking, folders, and big improvements in mail (amongst other things) finally make the device feel more like a computer and less like a gigantic iPhone. Ironic really, since these updates rolled out to the iPhone first. In our brief use of the new and improved iPad (and particularly with multitasking), we're impressed to see that there doesn't seem to be any lag or slowdown on the device while swapping between apps (despite the smaller amount of RAM on board here) or throwing together folders. We're pretty heartened to see performance matching what we've come to expect on our iPhone 4 -- admittedly we had reservations about what the experience would be like.
