Requirements: Windows 3.1, VGA and a 386 or better, Authorware runtime (this is included in the archive) and additional Windows fonts (included in archive). The fonts are installed in the usual way. Without them the text is misaligned with hotspots and flows out of boxes. These fonts match macintosh fonts from which the package was ported.
Content: Produced as an aid for 1st year medical student tutorials, aimed at those without A level biology it introduces cell structure and function, DNA structure and gene expression (quite a lot on this). The glossary provides explanations for biochemical terms, so there are descriptions of proteins phospholipids etc. Probably also useful revision material for medical students and first students in biochemistry, life sciences etc. and introduction to gene expression.
Installation: Install all the files and Authorware runtime (unless you already have it). Files must be in the same directory (except fonts and Runtime). The user must launch the mainmenu.app file, so you're best to set it up (say from a menu system) so this launches.
Usage: Point and click. Clicking on a main menu item brings up a submenu. Finishing a topic returns you to the menu with the section completed greyed. Quitting and restarting restores the menu (ie no greyed out items). Be patient with animations! Clicking on a red hotword takes you to the glossary, "continue" button brings you back.
Development: There is a version 2 for both Macintosh and windows which needs testing. This includes student self-testing and more control over animations.
