  1. ADDITIONAL NOTES ON CORELSHOW

  5. CorelSHOW's Presentation Player
  6. We've added a player utility -- Showrun --  which can be used to play
  7. your presentations on another computer which does not have CorelSHOW installed. 
  8. The player can be freely distributed to other computers without any legal restrictions.
  9.  
  10. Showrun is a stripped-down version of CorelSHOW, in which you can open 
  11. presentation files and play them. You can alter transition effects and 
  12. time on screen for each slide, but you can't save those changes.
  13.  
  14. The player is all contained in one file, called \show\showrun\showrun.exe. 
  15. You'll need to take that file, as well as your presentation file(s), 
  16. when you move your show to another system which does not have CorelSHOW 
  17. installed. Simply copy showrun.exe to the second system's hard disk, 
  18. and run it one of two ways:
  19.  
  20. 1. In Windows File Manager, double-click on the showrun.exe file name;
  21.  
  22. 2. In the Program Manager File menu, use the run command.
  23.  
  24. Once the player loads itself, it will prompt you to open a presentation
  25. file. (You can later open other presentations through 
  26. Showrun's File, Open command.) As in CorelSHOW itself, you can 
  27. open more than one document window.
  28.  
  29. Before running the show, you can select File, Presentation Options 
  30. and alter your show's presentation options. To play the show, 
  31. click on the Screen Show button in the top-left corner of the screen, 
  32. or select File, Run Screen Show.

  35. another computer, see the section "Moving a Screen Show to Another Computer" 
  36. in the CorelSHOW Procedures chapter of the user's guide.

  39. Running Animations Full-Screen
  40. CorelSHOW can play Autodesk .FLI and .FLC files full-screen only if 
  41. the video board in use supports VGA Graphics, and a Windows VGA driver 
  42. is installed by Windows Setup. Most video boards support VGA, but 
  43. some video boards which support the 8514 standard cannot run animations 
  44. full-screen. Attempting to play animations full-screen with these 
  45. boards can cause CorelSHOW to fail to display the animation and 
  46. skip to the next slide, or, in a few cases, to lock up. 
  47. The boards in question are:

  49. Mont Bleu Truc
  50. ATI Ultra
  51. Matrox Impress 8/ATS
  52. Hercules Graphics Station Plus 2
  53.  
  54. Check your video board's documentation to see which standard your board supports.
  55.  
  56. If your board doesn't support VGA, you should make the following changes 
  57. to your WIN.INI file, so that animations will run in small-screen mode. 
  58. In the section headed [AAPLAY Animation], replace the line "Fullscreen=aavga.dll" 
  59. with "Fullscreen=NO". The [AAPLAY Animation] section should then read:

  63. Sequencer=?,523
  64. FullScreen=NO
  65. DualScreen=no

  67. (In the first two lines, you'll see letters where the question marks appear. 
  68. These letters vary depending on your system's configuration.)

  70. Alternatively, you can play animations full screen by substituting the 
  71. standard Windows VGA driver for the manufacturer's video driver in 
  72. Windows Setup.  Note that this will affect your Windows display in all 
  73. Windows applications, so you might want to make this change just before 
  74. showing a presentation. You can then change the Windows Setup back to 
  75. the manufacturer's video driver after the presentation.

  78. CorelPHOTO-PAINT is OLE-Aware
  79. You can use CorelPHOTO-PAINT as an OLE server application in CorelSHOW. 
  80. To link or embed CorelPHOTO-PAINT objects in a CorelSHOW presentation, 
  81. follow the steps described in the CorelSHOW Procedures chapter.

  83. OLE Support for Bitmaps, Fountain Fills, Vectors
  84. Because of the limitations of the Windows Clipboard, which is the conduit 
  85. for all Microsoft Object Linking and Embedding operations, OLE does not 
  86. yet support linking or embedding of some objects created in CorelDRAW 
  87. and CorelCHART. Not supported are CorelDRAW objects which contain 
  88. two-color patterns or full-color patterns, or CorelCHART objects containing 
  89. fountain fills, bitmaps or vector patterns used for pictographs. This means 
  90. that any file created in an OLE server application for linking or 
  91. embedding in a CorelSHOW file cannot contain these fills. We're now 
  92. working on a solution to this, which will be issued as a patch or 
  93. maintenance release.

  96. 256-Color Bitmap Support
  97. CorelSHOW does not support 256-color bitmap files imported into, 
  98. or generated by, OLE server applications. If you have a 256-color image 
  99. you'd like to use in CorelSHOW, we recommend first saving it to another 
  100. format using CorelPHOTO-PAINT.
