  5. INTRODUCTION

  8. LITTLE PIANO is a children's music program running under Microsoft 
  9. Windows 3.1.  It is designed for children from 2 to 6.  They can
  10. play with the piano keyboard, compose short music to play back,
  11. or play pre-recorded tunes.
  12.  
  13. LITTLE PIANO currently has two versions.  Version 0.1 is a shareware 
  14. demonstration  program.  It accepts input for the piano keyboard,
  15. but not any of the other buttons.  Version 2.0 is the registered
  16. version.  It contains buttons for selecting rhythm, playback, erase,
  17. and one of the four pre-recorded tunes.  The Alphabet Song, Happy
  18. Birthday, Little Bunny Foo Foo, and Old McDonald Has a Farm.

  20. You are welcome to distribute or share LITTLE PIANO version 0.1 with
  21. your friends provided you do not alter the contents of this program.
  22. Only LITTLE PIANO version 0.1 can be treated as public domain software.
  23. You may not distribute LITTLE PIANO registered version 2.0.

  28. The distribution version of LITTLE PIANO contains the following files

  33. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  34. -------------------

  36. Since LITTLE PIANO operates under Microsoft Windows 3.1 environment,
  37. the following system configuration is recommended for LITTLE PIANO
  38. to run effectively.
  39.  
  40. INSTALLATION
  41. ------------
  42.  
  43. To install LITTLE PIANO, just copy the files stated in the FILE LIST 
  44. paragraph above into a sub-directory of your choice.  If you receive 
  45. the program in the compressed ZIP format, you need to use 
  46. PKUNZIP.EXE to decompress it first before copy the program.
  47.  
  48. After you start the Microsoft Windows 3.1 environment, select the 
  49. "RUN" option under the "file" menu item of your Program Manager.  
  50. This will result a dialog box appears on your screen.  Under
  51. the "Command Line" input, type in the directory path of LITTLE PIANO 
  52. and LTPIANO.EXE to execute the program.
  53.  
  54. If you want to permanently install LITTLE PIANO in your Program 
  55. Manager, please refer to Windows 3.1 User's manual for the procedures
  56. to adding icons within Program Manager.
  57.  
  58. PROGRAM OPERATION
  59. -----------------
  60. Little piano consists of a piano and a staff.  A note can be entered by
  61. mouse clicking on the piano key or a place on the staff.  The rhythm of
  62. each note is selected by mouse clicking on one of the three buttons on
  63. the left side of the piano keyboard.  
  64.  
  65. A short music of up to eighteen notes may be composed.  To play it, simply 
  66. click on the top button on the right side of the piano keyborad.  The
  67. buttom button on the right side of the piano keyboard is used to clear
  68. the staff and start afresh.  
  69.  
  70. Keyborad input is entered consecutively.  When the end of the staff is
  71. reached, the new note will replace the first note on the staff, and so
  72. on.  Staff input ocurres wherever the mouse clicks.  If a note is already
  73. there, the new input will replace it.   If a gap exists between two notes,
  74. it will be taken as a rest.

  76. There are four pre-recorded short songs:
  77.     1.  The ABC song.
  78.     2.  Happy birthday.
  79.     3.  Little bunny Foo Foo.
  80.     4.  Old McDonald has a farm.
  81. They can be played by clicking on one of the buttons on the yellow song book.

  83. LICENSE AGREEMENT

  86. The distribution version of LITTLE PIANO is a freeware.  It serves as 
  87. a demonstration for the registered version of LITTLE PIANO.  However, 
  88. it is copyrighted material, and it is protected by the copyright laws
  89. of the United States.  You may not alter, decompile, nor disassemble
  90. the program for any purpose.

  92. We encourage you to share this distribution version of LITTLE PIANO 
  93. with your friends.

  95. REGISTRATION
  96. ------------
  97. Registration fee for Little Piano is $15.00.  Little Piano is part of a
  98. children's software package called "Toy Chest".  "Toy Chest" contains
  99. five programs:  Pictures ABC, Action 123, Kiddie Puzzles, My Coloring Book,
  100. and Little Piano.  If you are a registered user of any other "Toy Chest"
  101. programs, the registration fee for Little Piano is $7.50.  Similarly, after
  102. registering for Little Piano, registration fee for other "Toy Chest"
  103. programs are reduced by half.  To register for the entire "Toy Chest"
  104. package, please send in a check for $40.

  106. Registration can be done through telephone or mail. To order by telephone,
  107. please call 1-800-497-3028, and leave your name and address.  Little Piano
  108. version 2.0 will be sent to you through C.O.D.  To order by mail,  please
  109. fill out the form below and send it with registration fee to:
