  20. Recommendation T.505 is the definition of an ODA document application 
  21. profile (DAP) named PM-26. This profile is suitable for interchanging 
  22. documents in formatted form, processable form or formatted processable 
  23. form and has been defined in accordance with CCITT T.411/ISO 8613-1. 
  24. The format of this profile is in accordance with the standardized 
  25. proforma and notation defined in CCITT T.411/ISO 8613-1 Annex F.

  27. This profile specifies interchange formats for the transfer of 
  28. structured documents between equipment designed for word or document 
  29. processing. Such documents may contain character, raster graphics and 
  30. geometric graphics content.

  32. The documents that can be interchanged using this profile range from 
  33. simple documents to highly structured technical reports, articles and 
  34. typeset documents such as brochures. This profile provides a 
  35. comprehensive level of features for the transfer of documents between 
  36. these systems.

  38. This profile allows documents to be interchanged in the following 
  39. forms:

  41.     -   formatted form;
  42.  
  43.     -   processable form;
  44.  
  45.     -   formatted processable form.

  47. The architecture levels defined for these three forms have matching 
  48. functionalities so that the interchange formats of a document are 
  49. convertible from a processable form to any other form.

  51. This profile is independent of the processes carried out in an end 
  52. system to create, edit or reproduce documents. It is also independent 
  53. of the means to transfer documents which for example, may be by means 
  54. of communication links or storage media.
