  20.     CALLING LINE IDENTIFICATION PRESENTATION (CLIP) AND CALLING LINE 
  21.             IDENTIFICATION RESTRICTION (CLIR)

  23. Recommendation Q.81.3 defines the stage 2 of the integrated services 
  24. digital network (ISDN) as provided by the telecommunications operators 
  25. for the Calling Line Identification Presentation (CLIP) and Calling 
  26. Line Identification Restriction (CLIR) supplementary services. Stage 2 
  27. identifies the functional capabilities and the information flows 
  28. needed to support the service description. The stage 2 description 
  29. also identifies user operations not directly associated with a call 
  30. (see Recommendation I.130).

  32. Recommendation Q.81.3 is defined according to the methodology 
  33. specified in Recommendation Q.65.

  35. Recommendation Q.81.3 does not formally describe the relationship 
  36. between these supplementary services and the basic call but, where 
  37. possible, this information is included for guidance.

  39. In addition, Recommendation Q.81.3 does not specify the requirements 
  40. where the service is provided to the user via a private ISDN. 
  41. Recommendation Q.81.3 does not specify the requirements for the 
  42. allocation of defined functional entities within a private ISDN; it 
  43. does however define which functional entities may be allocated to a 
  44. private ISDN.

  46. Recommendation Q.81.3 does not specify the additional requirements 
  47. where the service is provided to the user via a telecommunications 
  48. network that is not an ISDN.

  50. The CLIP supplementary service provides the called party with the 
  51. possibility to receive identification of the calling party.

  53. The CLIR supplementary service enables the calling party to prevent 
  54. presentation of its ISDN number to the called party.

  56. The CLIP and CLIR supplementary services are applicable to all 
  57. telecommunication services.
