  22. Recommendation G.706 relates to equipment which receives signals with 
  23. basic frame structures as defined in Recommendation G.704. It defines 
  24. the frame alignment, the cyclic redundancy check (CRC) multiframe 
  25. alignment and CRC bit error monitoring procedures to be used by such 
  26. equipment. It contains background information about the use of the 
  27. CRC procedures and their limitations.

  29. It gives details of a modified CRC-4 multiframe alignment algorithm 
  30. which allows automatic interworking between equipment with and 
  31. without a CRC-4 capability. It gives also details regarding the 
  32. updating of CRC-4 information when an intermediate equipment 
  33. (i.e. between true path terminating equipments) has a write-access to 
  34. a message-based data-link facility.
