New commands:
* The FILE command has 3 additional subcommands and the
subcommand EDIT has been improved as follows:
- VIEW, <ALT>-V, This command will ask for a file name
and then execute the view utility specified in the
GENERAL SETUP MENU. The file may be selected from a
directory display by using <F4> to display the
directory, then select the desired file by placing the
highlight over the filename and hitting <ENTER>. A
different subdirectory can be selected by either using
the <C>, change directory, command or by moving the
highlight over the desired directory and pressing
enter.
- DIRECTORY, <ALT>-F, This command will display a
directory. A different subdirectory can be selected
by either using the <C>, change directory, command or
by moving the highlight over the desired directory and
pressing enter.
- CHDIR, <ALT>-<F7>, Enter the desired directory at the
New Directory prompt.
- EDIT, <ALT>-A, The EDIT command now will prompt for a
file name and then execute the edit utility specified
in the GENERAL SETUP MENU. The file may be selected
from a directory display by using <F4> to display the
directory, then select the desired file by placing the
highlight over the filename and hitting <ENTER>. A
different subdirectory can be selected by either using
the <C>, change directory, command or by moving the
highlight over the desired directory and pressing
enter.
* ANSWER, <ALT>-Y, The AUTO-ANSWER mode has been added to
allow the user to have FLASHlink answer the incoming call
and then enter the terminal emulation selected. This can
be used to answer when you are connecting to a system
that uses a security call-back process. This is similar
to HOST mode except that HOST mode does not enter into a
terminal emulation.
* TOGGLE has two new commands:
- CLOSE, <ALT>-<F2>, This command will close a network
printer. (When using a printer on a network it is
necessary to close the print job to allow the network
to begin printing.)
- NEWLINE, <ALT>-<F3>, When the <ENTER> key is depressed
it can send either <CR> or <CR><LF>. This command
toggles between these two combinations.
* <ALT>-C, will clear the screen when in the terminal mode.
This command is not available in the menus.
MINI-HOST operation has two new features:
* A user definable WELCOME screen is provided. The user
defined screen will be displayed instead of the standard
Mini-Host "Welcome to FLASHlink Mini Host..". The file
WELCOME will be displayed inplace of the standard welcome
message. This file can be created with any editor
capable of providing ASCII output.
* Shell to DOS has been added to Mini Host. When this
option is selected the user will be prompted for a
password. If the correct password is given then Mini
Host will shell to DOS and execute a batch file named
HOST.BAT. The sample HOST.BAT provided does not provide
any protection from the remote user. If he should hang-
up or be disconnected while using shell to DOS then
FLASHlink will not be able to return to the Mini Host
mode. The user password is defined in the GENERAL SETUP
MENU.
The GENERAL SETUP MENU has been extended to add the following
new features:
* MODEM SETUP now has a Help screen that is entered by
pressing <F2>. Highlight the desired modem type and
press <ENTER>.
* VIEW UTILITY: File path and name to be used with the view
command.
* SHELL PASSWORD: This is the password used by the Shell to
DOS operation when using Mini Host. If this entry is
blank, then Shell to DOS will not prompt for a password
and anyone will have access to this operation.
* EMULATION selects the desired terminal emulation. There
are two "built-in" emulations, TTY and VT102.
The TTY emulation supports only <CR>, <LF>, <TAB>, and
<BELL> control characters.
The VT102, ANSI, emulation is a full implementation that
includes: printer pass-through, application key-pad mode,
ANSI color, scrolling region, etc. Double height, double
width characters, and 132 column modes are not supported.
The following keys are mapped for the VT102 emulation.
->| Horizontal Tab TAB
[Del] Delete DEL
Up arrow Cursor Up Esc [ A
Dn arrow Cursor Down Esc [ B
Right arrow Cursor Right Esc [ C
Left arrow Cursor Left Esc [ D
[Home] Cursor Home Esc [ H
[Ctrl] & [Home] Clear Screen Esc [ H Esc [ j
[End] Line Feed LF
[Ctrl] & [End] Erase to End of Line Esc [ K
[Ctrl] & [PgUp] Insert Line Esc [ L
[Ctrl] & [PgDn] Delete Line Esc [ M
[F1] PF1 Esc O P
[F2] PF2 Esc O Q
[F3] PF3 Esc O R
[F4] PF4 Esc O S
* DIAL LEVEL MNP specifies the highest MNP level to be used
when manually dialing the modem from the <M> MANUAL DIAL
command in the DIALING DIRECTORY.
* ANSWER LEVEL MNP specifies the highest MNP level to be
used when answering an incoming call when in Mini Host or
Auto-Answer modes.
* AUTO BAUD ADJUST: When the AUTO BAUD ADJUST is set to ON
then FLASHlink will automatically adjust the port speed
to match the connect speed returned by the modem.
Setting this to OFF will allow the port speed to be
different than the modem speed. This is needed for
modems with hardware data compression, as they require
data at a faster rate that the modems connect rate.
* FLOW CONTROL is provided to allow an external device to
set the pace of the system. This will allow the external
device to indicate when it can and cannot receive data.
Three methods of FLOW CONTROL are provided:
- None - Flow control is not used.
- XON/XOFF - The XON & XOFF control characters are used
to stop and restart the flow of data from the PC to the
external device. Flow control is also provided for
data from the external device and the PC.
- RTS/CTS - The hardware handshake lines RTS & CTS are
used to provide bidirectional flow control.
Flow control is needed when using a modem that has the
port speed set to a different speed than the connect
speed.
* ENQUIRE (ENQ) can be set to ON or OFF. When set to NO
FLASHlink will respond, answer-back, when an ENQ
character is received. The contents of the <ALT> 0
keyboard macro are used as the answer-back message.
* ASCII UPLOAD options have been added to allow control of
an ANSII upload. Character and line pacing are provided
to allow a defined wait time to occur after each
character or line. This will allow the remote host to
process the characters or line before receiving the next.
The capability is also provided to place a space on any
blank line by setting EXPAND BLANK LINES to Y.
Additionally translation for the <CR> and <LF> characters
is provided.
The CALL PROGRESS WINDOW now provides additional detail
concerning the progress of a call.
A FILE TRANSFER INFORMATION BOX has been provided to provide
additional information about file transfers in progress.
Additional command line switches have been provided:
/A - Load FLASHlink and enter the auto-answer mode.
/P - Report the status of COM1 through COM4.
/Q - Load FLASHlink and bypass the checking for busy COM
Ports.
