  2. Vmos/3 COM ports
  3.  
  4. As of version 1.0g, COM ports are properly supported for most applications.
  5.  
  6. The Mode of the VDD determines how the COM port will be handled.
  7.  
  8. Please refer to page 6-2 in the Vmos/3 Reference Guide for an explanation of 
  9. VDD Modes.
  10.  
  11. In summary:  For a mouse, use fOreground Mode.  This ensures that the mouse
  12.              will be attached to the Session using the Foreground screen.
  13.  
  14.              For a modem or other serial device, use Com Mode.  This provides 
  15.              the buffered UART support necessary under a task based operating 
  16.              system like Vmos/3. 
  17.  
  18. For proper operation of a COM Session in Background, change its Priority
  19. to 20.  Page 4-4 in the Vmos/3 Reference Guide discusses default assignments.
  20. For example, to change the Priority for Session 2, type:
