KING'S QUEST V
Additional Game Instructions
General:
This file contains notes and instructions that correct errors and/or
omissions in the printed instructions included with the game. Please take
the time to carefully read these last minute instructions.
Installing the game:
The printed instructions indicate that low-density (360K) 5.25" diskette
drives can be used if a high-density drive is also available. This is no
longer correct, low-density support is not provided in the VGA versions of
King's Quest V.
TSR's:
King's Quest V requires a large amount of memory (RAM) in order to
function properly. For this reason it is recommended that the game be
played from a "clean" system boot (start) with no terminate and stay
resident software installed.
Cursors:
The printed instructions indicate that the TRAVEL cursor will not be on
the screen in keyboard or joystick mode. This is no longer true. To move
Graham in travel mode simply move the TRAVEL cursor to the spot you wish
him to walk to and press [ENTER] or the fire button.
There are two cursors that will appear on the screen from time to time
that are not mentioned in the printed instructions. The first of these
cursors is in the shape of an hourglass. This is the WAIT cursor and it
will appear on the screen anytime that the game is at a stage where it
will not respond to any of your commands. During this time you will not
be able to move Graham nor will you have access to the icon bar.
The second cursor is the HOLD cursor. It will appear on the screen as a
crown anytime that Graham is not under your control, but the game will
still respond to other commands that don't involve moving Graham. The icon
bar and most of its functions will still be available to you during this
time.
Drivers Disk:
In the documentation it refers to a 'Drivers Disk'. That disk is now
labeled 'Startup Disk'.
Hint:
If you feel lost or disoriented, and things are looking dark, look into
the darkness for some help, you'll be aMAZEd by what you see.
