Subj: DEEP STRIKE PROBLEM
As I mentioned in an earlier message, I had downloaded the new mission
scenarios for A10, and was having a problem with the deep strike mission. I
could not get lock on to the runway at the enemy base to complete the mission.
I noticed several other messages from people having the same problem. I
re-unzipped the new missions files and did CRC checks between those files and
the files in my A10\SS2 directory. The files were all the same. I fired up A10
and tried for half an hour to target that runway with no joy. So I copied the
.SSS, .GI, .TBL, and .WLD files that I had unzipped earlier into my A10
directory and restarted A10. I then had no problem targeting the runway. I am
not sure how it happened, but I think that the new TRRPCK4.GI file wound up in
the SS2 directory rather than the A10. This file apparently has the targeting
information for the fifth mission. I copied the original TRRPCK4.GI from my
original A10 disk 3 back to my A10 subdirectory and the targeting problem
returned. Restoring the TRRPCK4.GI file to the one supplied with the new
mission set again solved the problem. If the size of the TRRPCK4.GI file in
the A10 subdirectory is 7537 bytes, it is the old file. If the size is 8361
bytes, it is the new file. If anyone is having problems with the deep strike
mission check the size of the TRRPCK4.GI file in your A10 directory. If it is
the old file replace it with the new file. This file is NOT copied to the SS2
directory by the SSM mission switcher program when you switch back and forth
between missions, so it needs to be in the A10 directory. I think that
providing this BBS system and the additional mission scenarios is a real plus
for Dynamix and would just like to say thanks!! I hope that this information
helps anyone with "deep strike problems"
