  6. Thank you for purchasing Flow Charting 3.  We think you will be
  7. pleased with the speed and flexibility of our newest release.
  8.  
  9. This file contains information that may not be included in the
  10. manual.  Please read this file to learn about any changes to the
  11. program, or corrections to the manual.

  13. Please use the installation program, INSTFLOW.EXE to install
  14. Flow Charting.  Flow Charting cannot be used on the disks provided.
  15. It must be installed first!

  17. ------------------------ General Information ------------------------

  20. Old Flow Charting files:
  21.  
  22.    If you have upgraded to Flow Charting 3 from one of the older 
  23.    products in the Patton & Patton family (Flow Charting II, II+,
  24.    etc), you probably have many old charts with the extension ".cht".
  25.    You can use these old charts with Flow Charting 3 by reading them
  26.    into newly created charts as images.

  28.    You can convert the old chart files to single-page, multi-page,
  29.    and/or canvas style flowcharts.  For more information and
  30.    specifics on the steps involved, refer to Appendix E.

  33. Flow Charting COMMAND LINE options:
  34.  
  35.    Flow Charting has several features which can be enabled or
  36.    disabled when the program is run.  At the DOS prompt, type FLOW /H
  37.    to see a list of these features and refer to Chapter 21 in the
  38.    manual.

  41. New Chart parameters:
  42.  
  43.    The parameters in New Chart, can be customized to your
  44.    specifications and saved as your own defaults.  In order to save
  45.    your defaults, select New Chart, create a chart with your
  46.    parameters, exit Edit mode and go to Configure. Once in configure,
  47.    press [F10] to save the current configuration.  Your New Chart
  48.    defaults are now saved.  These defaults are only used by Flow
  49.    Charting at the time the program is run.  If you were to create
  50.    another new chart with different parameters, then these 'new'
  51.    parameters will be in effect during this session.

  54. LAN users:
  55.  
  56.    For those of you that are sharing a printer via a network, it is
  57.    recommended that you configure Flow Charting 3 to output to a
  58.    DISKFILE.  Everytime you go to print a chart, you will be asked
  59.    to supply a file name.  You should specify the port that the
  60.    network has control of.  For example, if you are on a Novell 
  61.    network and your LPT2 port is 'captured', then you would specify
  62.    LPT2 as the diskfile name.

  65. Print Multiple Charts:
  66.  
  67.    Print Multiple Charts will print chart files directly from disk.
  68.    Since this feature prints from the disk file, rather than from
  69.    memory, you must save any edits to disk before you begin.  Upon
  70.    returning from 'Print Multiple', no chart will be loaded into
  71.    memory.  You must either start a 'New Chart', or 'Load' an
  72.    existing one.

  75. HP Portable Plus:
  76.  
  77.    Flow Charting 3 does NOT support the Hewlett-Packard Portable
  78.    Plus computer.

  81. Texas Instrument Printers:
  82.  
  83.    The TI 810 is NOT supported by Flow Charting 3.  This printer
  84.    does not have graphics capabilities and is therefore not
  85.    compatible with Flow.

  87.    TI 855 and 865 users, when configuring for these printers, choose
  88.    the TI 850 and 860 respectively.
