Rotox interactive trainer and cursor key fix
by R. Bubba Magillicutty
There are two parts to this package. The first, ROTOFIX.COM, will
replace the Q,A,O,P keys with the arrow keys. I really hate programs that
don't use the arrows. It makes them so unplayable. I made this separate
because I felt the game should be permanently modified. Who needs a
brain-dead program? Just run this while in the same directory as the
ROTOX.EXE file and it will be modified for you. The fix took longer to do
than the cheat. The keyboard input routines in this game are BIZARRE!
The second part is the usual interactive trainer. This one is a
7-function sucker. As usual with multi-function trainers, there is an ANSI
opening screen to show you which keys do what. A quick list:
F9 - Lets you walk anywhere you want, instead of falling into space. You may
want to toggle it off and fall through a hole to get a map of the level.
F10 - Invulnerability. The usual. You won't lose energy for falling or
getting hit by aliens or bullets. Walking into monsters is the easiest
way to kill them if this feature is on.
1 - Toggles a weapon on and off. This one shoots out a bullet that explodes,
sending shrapnel everywhere. Probably the best weapon.
2 - Shoots out a large ball that kills everything in it's path.
3 - A strange missile that flies around on it's own and does whatever it
wants. You can only have one in the air at a time. It seems to follow
you around to some extent.
4 - Looks like a jetpack. I haven't figured out how to activate it. I think
it doesn't do anything, but is required to finish a level.
The numeric keypad plus - Turns on invulnerability, levitation, and gives you
all four weapons. It's not a toggle; it just turns them all on. If you want
to turn anything back off, use the F9, F10, or 1-4 keys.
Instructions
------------
Go around and nuke stuff. The nine grey and white squares in the
bottom right corner show what you have to do. White squares still contain
enemies. When you've killed them all, it turns grey. In addition to killing
all the enemies, you must collect all the weapons. A white square inside of
a grey one means that you've killed all the enemies but left a weapon. The
red blinking circles in the upper right show which weapons you have. The
three columns correspond to the first three weapons. The green bar on the
left is your energy, of course. You get 30 units, and when it gets to 0 you
lose a life. I believe you start with 5 lives. Getting hit by a bullet or
falling takes away one energy. Yes, you can fall 30 times before losing one
life. It's a nice way to get a map. With the invulnerability cheat on, you
don't lose energy for falling. Also on the left side is a radar. It shows
you near-by enemies. Green dots are bad guys waiting to be nuked. I don't
think lives remaining are shown anywhere on the screen. They want to keep
you guessing.
If you're using the levitation cheat and get Lost in Space, just hit
F9 and you'll fall, get a map, and appear on the last non-space area you were
in. You don't lose any energy or suffer any penalties other than losing your
weapons, which the 1-4 or + key will fix.
Enjoy!
