───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Emulex/2 2.11 and up versions now feature Net/EchoMail. Which is very powerful,
and very hard to understand how to work, so I will try to explain just how to
get a net going from start to finish.
───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Part I - Setting up your config
───────────────────────────────
The first thing to do is setup your bbs's configuration for emumail. Here
is a description of what each emumail thing means..
EmuMail Time - This is the time to process and send emumail.
It should be a time when the bbs is least busy (ie. 4:00 am)
Also when the bbs it is going to call won't be busy!
Your Phone # - This is the phone number of your bbs. This is so the bbs
it calls can send returning emumail. It MUST be in this
format " 1 416 467 7555 ".
Extender - The extender dialed before the phone number. If you use
a long distance service instead of 1 + Number. It should
be in this format " 9501234,,12345, ".
EmuMail Level - This is the level reqd to send EmuMail in a Non─EchoMail
message base.
───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Part II - Setting the Message Base
──────────────────────────────────
When you create a message base it will ask you if this is an echomail message
base or not. An echomail message base means all msgs posted are echo'd to all
bbs on that echo subs nodelist. (Each echosub has it's own nodelist, but there
is a general nodelist for non─echo mail bases)
───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Part III - Setting your nodelist
────────────────────────────────
You can either hit A from the ^ EmuMail commands or from the N]odelist editor
commands, to add a nodelist entry. If this is an echomail message base, then
the entry is added to the bases SPECIFIC nodelist, otherwise it adds it to
the general netmail mail nodelist. Here is what it will ask and what it wants.
Enter BBS Name :
It wants the name of the system. (Anyway you like)
Enter BBS Location :
Where the bbs is located. (Anyway you like)
Enter Baudrate [2400]:
The baudrate of that system. 2400 being the default.
Tele # [1 NPA PRE SUFF]:
The telephone number of the node. If you going to use a PCP NUA,
it should be in the local format " PRE SUFF " otherwise it should
be in that format.
Enter the PCP NUA [CR/None]:
This is if you are going to use the PCPursuit Network to process your
calls.
───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Part IV - Echo Confrences
─────────────────────────
There are only a few echo confrences currently being run. In order to get
into one of these confs you need just ask, I can't see any reason why you
wouldn't be let in. All confrence names are preceded by " EM " meaning
Echo Mail. The way to setup yourself in a echo is pretty simple.. First
you create a message base in the name of the echo, then you have all the
bbs add you to their nodelists. Then you add all them to your nodelist.
Here are the echo's currently being supported.
(These can change at anytime so this is not 100% accurate)
EMEMULEX - Emulex/2 Help/Ideas Echo
EMMAIL - Emulex/2 EchoMail & NetMail Disscussion
EMGAME - Gaming Echo
EMTECH - Technical Echo
EMSYSOP - Sysops Echo
───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Part V - Future
───────────────
Well, since netmail is reletively new to Emulex, we are constantly developing
and testing new ideas. In the future we hope to have a much more efficent echo
system using hubs. But this is just the stone ages.. Soon we hope to be distr─
─ibuting nodelists for each confrence. Then the sysop would only have to take
himself out of the list and he would be ready to go, without adding all the
entries.
