  32. Minnesota has passed landmark legislation making parental leave available to both women and men who become parents, either through birth or adoption. Mothers and fathers who have been on the job at least a year and who work at least 20 hours a week can take up to six weeks of unpaid leave. Companies with fewer than 21 employees are exempt.
