Documentation for LINE55.COM
LINE55 is a program that allows you to configure the MBC-550 serial
port and change the baud rate.
Use of the program is fairly simple. When you run LINE55, you will see
the default parameters. You may change these parameters and then do either
or both of the following:
1. Have the parameters take effect immediately
2. Make the new parameters the default.
Please note that the default parameters are for LINE55. When a cold
boot or a reset is performed on the MBC-550, the standard configuration
takes effect (8 data bits, 1 stop, no parity, and 1200 baud). You must
then run LINE55 to change the serial port configuration (even to the
default parameters).
Also note that in order to make the new parameters become the default,
LINE55 must be on the default drive and must maintain its original name
(LINE55.COM). This is because the program modifies itself so that it
will remember the parameters that you want to be the default values.
There are two commands that are not apparent when using LINE55.
1. If any (Y/N) question is answered with a "B" or "b",
you will go back to the previous question. This allows
you to make corrections while still in LINE55.
2. If LINE55 is called with a "D" in the command line
(i.e. A:LINE55 D), the default settings will take
effect immediately. No menu will be shown.
This feature can be used to automatically configure
your system at start up time by putting the command
"LINE55 D" in an AUTOEXEC.BAT file.
Please note that only standard baud rates should be used (even though
LINE55 allows you to choose any baud rate). The standard rates are
110, 150, 300, 600, 1200, 2400, 4800, and 9600. Because of the clock
frequency used by the baud rate generator on the MBC-550, higher baud
rates (i.e. 4800 or above) may not accurately work with some equipment.
