  22. │                                                                          │
  23. │  At your  command line type - X-PLAY FILENAME.DMF to  play  your desired │
  24. │  sound file (or without parameters to view the list of options).         │
  25. │                                                                          │
  26. │  After  selecting  a valid  sound file, the program prompts you to enter │
  27. │  several information. Select  your  sound  card  and  the  corresponding │
  28. │  mixer information. This of course only affects  SoundBlaster(tm) output │
  29. │  and is therefore not required if  running in GUS mode.                  │
  30. │                                                                          │
  31. │  The  player  main  screen  shows some information while playing and, of │
  32. │  course, a  fine, 32 channel wide  equalizer! Please  note  that the DMA │
  33. │  transfer  on SB  and  compatible cards  slows  down the systemspeed and │
  34. │  affects the frame update of the equalizer. Let there be GUS!            │
  35. │                                                                          │
  36. │  Note from RAY: I could have made the equalizer a LOT faster  in SB mode │
  37. │  but this would  decrease the sound qualitiy, so I decided to give maxi- │
  38. │  mum performance to quality.                                             │
  39. │                                                                          │
  40. │  This is why I implemented the "/B:xx" option which  sets the DMA buffer │
  41. │  length. The smaller  the value, the faster  the equalizer  on SB cards. │
  42. │  Just use the value you want to...                                       │
