  4. Machine requirements :
  5. ----------------------
  6. 486, 486DX2+ recommended
  7. 4Mb of ram (may require clean boot)
  8. Fairly fast VGA video card recommended
  9. Unfortunately the demo does not run under Windows 95, this is a problem with
  10. the music player, when I get a working update of the music player, I will 
  11. release the updated .EXE to work under win95.
  12. Problems can occur with ET4000 W32 cards, if you have troubles, try some
  13. of the command line switches below.

  15. Command line switches :
  16. -----------------------
  17. format : SOLSTICE <switch1> <switch2>
  18.  
  19. fixxm  - This will use alternative mode setting code, so if you find the demo
  20.          crashes, then try this switch (type SOLSTICE fixxm)             
  21. noxm   - If you have tried the above switch, and the demo still crashes, try
  22.          this, it will remove the mode setting code, so effects such as the
  23.          hi-colour ones and hi-res piccies will not be shown. You will get 
  24.          a black screen where the effect should be, but the demo should 
  25.          continue as normal after.
  26. fixrgb - will fix the 'banding' which may appear in the hi-color RGB effects, 
  27.          this will slow down the frame rate, but should give a perfect
  28.          picture. (type SOLSTICE fixrgb)
  29.  
  30. If you have other troubles with a Soundblaster Card, try reducing the mixing
  31. rate, and setting it in Mono 8 Bit mode.

  33. Notes on use :
  34. --------------
  35. Solstice is public domain, this means that you can freely give the
  36. COMPLETE version of this demo to any of your friends etc. as long as no
  37. charge is made.
  38. PD and Shareware distributors may distribute this demo as long it is the
  39. complete version, and as long as there are no special pricing policies on
  40. this product.
  41. Any other commercial establishments using this product must contact us before
  42. use. This also includes CDRom distrubution, if you wish to put this on your
  43. CDRom, you MUST contact us first!
  44. This program has been thoroughly tested, and should cause no problems, you use
  45. this software at your own risk. If any bugs are found, we will attempt to 
  46. rectify them.
  47. This is a special version for the PC Format CDRom collection, and permission
  48. has been granted to them to distribute.
