  17. WHERE AND WHEN
  18.  
  19.     The party will take place at Ylä-Savon Ammattioppilaitos in Iisalmi
  20.     from 14th to 15th of January, 1995. Iisalmi is a small town between
  21.     Kuopio and Kajaani  and it's located about 85 kilometers northwards
  22.     from Kuopio.  The partyplace is near the town center, less than one
  23.     kilometer from the market place.

  26. ENOUGH SPACE
  27.  
  28.     Ylä-Savon Ammattioppilaitos is a good  place for the party. There's
  29.     an auditorium,  lots of classrooms and a big dining room. The audi-
  30.     torium features a video cannon &  large big screen, 150 comfortable
  31.     seats and a good PA system (genelec).  The dining room will be used
  32.     as a space for  all  the computer equipment you bring with you, and
  33.     YES, there will be enough electricity for all. For sleeping we have
  34.     a few quiet classrooms located far from the real action. One of the
  35.     classrooms will be used as a storage, so you can store your bags or
  36.     computer equipment there.  A kiosk  will be  open  during the whole
  37.     party selling snacks,drinks and of course food. Toilets and showers
  38.     are also available.

  40. PRICE
  41.  
  42.     Because of the rent, cleaning costs and competion prices we'll have
  43.     to lighten your wallet a bit.  The entrance fee  includes the whole
  44.     weekend at the party place,  so if you just want to visit the party
  45.     place, you still have to pay the whole price.  The price is 70 FIM,
  46.     BUT if you  send  the registration form in  advance,  you only have
  47.     to pay 50 FIM, so  send the  damn  form, or  contact the organizers
  48.     (addresses at the end of file). Because we are not sure how the new
  49.     tax (ALV) will affect the party, we reserve the right to change the
  50.     entrance fee,  but it is 99,9% sure the price will remain as it is.

  53. COMPETITIONS
  54.  
  55.     Every party  must  have some competitions.  This  time we will have
  56.     atleast  a Demo-,  a Graphics-  and a  Music-competition.  In every
  57.     competition  only the  top 3 will receive prices.  The prices  will
  58.     be taken straight from the entrance fee (see the percentage below),
  59.     and possibly  some  hardware  prices too, if we're  lucky enough to
  60.     get some sponsors.

  67.     If we get some sponsors, the  prices may  go up. If only 100 people
  68.     attend the party, and  all of them have  registered in advance, the
  69.     prices  will be 5000 FIM  altogether (100x50FIM = 5000FIM). Because
  70.     we expect more than 100 attenders,  the prices will be higher, it's
  71.     up to you. More the merrier!

  74. COMPETITION RULES
  75.  
  76.     - All competition entries must be delivered before the DEADLINE
  77.     - If you want to enter a competition, you must be present at
  78.       the party. In case you compete with a demo, one person of
  79.       the group must be present at the party.
  80.     - All competition entries will be spread immediately after
  81.       the party, so fix your production to an acceptable
  82.       condition before entering the compo.
  83.     - Testing your production on the compomachine is possible
  84.       before the competition.

  87.     DEMO:
  88.  
  89.     - Only one demo by group
  90.     - The maximum size of a demo is 4096kb (4MB)
  91.     - The maximum showing time is 15 minutes / demo.
  92.     - Only 256k VGA modes are accepted, NO SVGA!
  93.     - The demo must work without any user interaction,
  94.       except for configuration (autodetection preferred :)

  96.     GRAPHICS:
  97.  
  98.     - Only one picture by one artist
  99.     - Only VGA 256k modes are accepted, so the maximum resolution is
  100.       640*480 in 16 colors.
  101.     - Picture must be hand drawn with deluxe paint or similar.
  102.       Rendered, scanned or copied pictures will be disqualified.
  103.     - If the picture is in tweak mode, bring your own viewer,
  104.       because VPIC 6.1, which will be the general viewing program
  105.       at the party, might not be able to show it.
  106.     - We want to prevent the use of usual cheating methods, so bring
  107.       atleast three (3) earlier versions of your picture : One from
  108.       the beginning, one from the middle and the almost finished version.
  109.     - Don't put your signature in the competition version! All
  110.       pictures will be shown without the author's name.

  113.     MUSIC:
  114.  
  115.     - Only one song by one artist
  116.     - Maximum module size is 1024kb (1MB)
  117.     - The participating song must be in one of thes common formats:
  118.       .MOD .MTM .S3M or .XM.
  119.     - Copies (straight sampling of metallica etc.) of known songs
  120.       will be disqualified.
  121.     - If you don't bring your own player, we will play the song
  122.       with the latest version of Inertia Player (1.2). Every tune made
  123.       with Fast Tracker (.XM) will be played with Fast Tracker 2.0.
  124.     - Maximum playing time is 4 minutes per song

  127.     The  competition machine  is  a standard  486/66 VLB/PCi PC,
  128.     with 8 megabytes of memory ,Gravis Ultrasound (1024k) and
  129.     SoundBlaster Pro  soundcards. Graphics card is TSENG ET4000/W32P PCi.
  130.     These soundcard settings would be appreciated (preferred) :

  133.        Sound Blaster Pro: A240 I7 D1

  135.     If you want to change something in your competition entry
  136.     after the competitions (put a signature in your picture
  137.     for example or update .nfo files), you can do it, but the
  138.     time is limited to an hour or so, after that your production
  139.     will be spread.

  142.     * IMPORTANT ! *
  143.  
  144.     The organizers  reserve the right  to  disqualify  any  competition
  145.     entry,  if  it contains  some  unsuitable material, such as racism,
  146.     porno or windows(tm) stuff:). Also the organizers reserve the right
  147.     to   change   the   competition  pricez  and  rulez  if  necessary.
  148.     A  specially  selected  jury  will take a look at every competition
  149.     entry   before  the   competitions.  The  jury  consists  of  party
  150.     organizers & a couple of volunteers.

  152.     Everyone  who  has  paid  the  entrance fee will receive a personal
  153.     voting  sheet.  The  voting  system  will be the easiest ever, just
  154.     put X:s over boxes. Now even  the  coders  can  learn  how to vote!
  155.     Remember to take a pen with you.

  158. WHAT ELSE?
  159.  
  160.     The exact party schedule will be published at the party,
  161.     but here's some information:

  163.      * SATURDAY:
  164.  
  165.     - The party begins at 10:00
  166.     - Deadline for all competitions is at 18:00
  167.     - Competitions will start at 22:00
  168.     - DOOM (or?) competition (hopefully Rise of the Triad is released
  169.       by then).

  172.     * SUNDAY:
  173.  
  174.     - The party ends at 15:00
  175.  
  176.     Juhla'95 is supposed  to have  a special DOOM competion,  so if you
  177.     have  a network  card, remember  to take it  with you. This is very
  178.     important,  coz  we  don't  have many of them. Because we have this
  179.     great  auditorium  at  our  disposal, it  will be a great chance to
  180.     watch some movies and demos. So, if you got any good quality Sci-Fi
  181.     movies, bring them with you.

  184. GENERAL RULES
  185.  
  186.     - NO BOOZING OR DRUGS, if we encounter such events taking place,
  187.       we will confiscate the stuff to our own disposal :). Drunks
  188.       will be thrown out.
  189.  
  190.     - If you break something, you pay for it. You are fully
  191.       responsible for your actions.
  192.  
  193.     - Selling food is not allowed without the permission
  194.       from the organizers.
  195.  
  196.     - Smoking inside the party place is prohibited. Go out
  197.       and smoke some weed, we don't care.
  198.  
  199.     - We do not take responsibility of illegal copying.
  200.  
  201.     - We do not take responsibility of unexpected events such as
  202.       police raids, floods and electrical failures. If the party
  203.       is cancelled for some reason, we are not obliged to pay back
  204.       the entrance fee (this is just for our trip to Canada:).
  205.  
  206.     - If necessary, take an insurance for yourself and your things.
  207.       We are not responsible if someone steals your stuff. But if
  208.       someone is caught of stealing, we let the cops take care of it.
  209.  
  210.     - Let us know if you're coming! If we know exactly the number
  211.       of attenders, it will help a lot. Also tell us if you have
  212.       an extra video cannon :), network cards or something else useful.

  214.     - If you or your group wants to be part of the organizing
  215.       team, contact us by phone (preferred). We also need some
  216.       sponsors for this event.
