  14. The APCi MultiPlayer Game Server provides true network modem gaming 
  15. support via virtually any multi-line BBS!  Modem gamers may now use the
  16. APCi MultiPlayer Game Client software to call any host BBS and toast
  17. up to three opponents!  Bet you didn't know your rocket launcher could
  18. liquify someone in New York and California at the same time!
  19.  
  20. Use this client software to call the APCi BBS at (618) 632-7664 and
  21. get ready to kick some network DOOM butt!  After that, call your
  22. local multi-line BBS sysops and tell them to get with the program
  23. and get the APCi MultiPlayer Game Server NOW!  1-800-535-APCi!

  27.                             HERE'S HOW TO PLAY!!!
  28.  
  29.                 Move all of these files to your DOOM directory.  
  30.

  32. *  If you have an older version of APCiDOOM, you must delete it before you  *

  34. *   Type "DEL APCI*.*" in your DOOM directory to remove your old version.   *

  37.        Connecting to the APCi MultiPlayer Gamer Server is very simple.  
  38.                            Follow these easy steps:
  39.  
  40.      1 - You must have a high-speed modem capable of connecting at a 
  41.          minimum of 14400 baud.  While 9600 baud is fast enough for
  42.          most two player games, it does not allow for smooth operation
  43.          of fast-paced and data-intensive three or more player games.
  44.  
  45.      2 - Configure you computer's memory and other resources as required
  46.          by DOOM.  Reference your DOOM manual or README files for helpful 
  47.          information.  If necessary, contact id Software's technical support 
  48.          sevices (or call one of your computer-geek friends).
  49.  
  50.      3 - Run APCiDOOM MultiPlayer Game Client software by typing APCIDOOM
  51.          in your DOOM directory.  You will need to provide important 
  52.          configuration information such as your modem's COM port and
  53.          hardware port speed the first time it is executed.
  54.  
  55.      4 - Proceed IMMEDIATELY to the HELP menu and read EVERYTHING.  Don't
  56.          be a geek.  The HELP section contains extremely important
  57.          information that you MUST know and understand to play multiplayer
  58.          modem DOOM.  If you don't read it, you'll be frustrated and
  59.          confused.  Worse yet, WE will be frustrated and confused when you
  60.          call and expect us to read it to you.  JUST READ IT!  Then look
  61.          through all of the menus and options.
  62.      
  63.      5 - Use the appropriate modem initilization commands and APCiTERM
  64.          to call the host BBS.  You will find a list of suggested modem 
  65.          initilization commands under the APCiLINK setup menu of APCiDOOM.  
  66.          It is highly recommended that you configure APCiTERM to use a 
  67.          port speed of 19200 or 38400.  Your sysop or one of your computer
  68.          geek friends may be able to help you with these settings.
  69.  
  70.      6 - Call the host BBS which has the APCi MultiPlayer Game Server.
  71.          Connect to the APCi MultiPlayer Game Server by selecting
  72.          the appropriate BBS menu options then PRESSING YOUR SPACE BAR
  73.          SEVERAL TIMES IN SUCCESSION to activate the server.
  74.  
  75.      7 - Select DOOM from the APCiTERM pop-up menu.  Chat with other players
  76.          will then begin.  When all players have selected identical game
  77.          parameters and press F10, the game will start.  Have fun!  When 
  78.          finished, return to APCiTERM and continue your BBS session.  Log off 
  79.          properly.  Do NOT merely hang up while connected to the APCi 
  80.          MultiPlayer Game Server or any online service.  It's really rude!
