┌───────────────────┐
│ 1. Introduction │
└───────────────────┘
UltraHeaders is a high speed file directory, file listings organizer.
It was originally created for personal use but later attracted
other friends and Sysops. This is the first program of its kind that
is made for PCBoard v15.0/v15.1b.
UltraHeaders v1.9 - 02 - Reference Manual
┌───────────────────────────────┐
│ 2. Features of UltraHeaders │
└───────────────────────────────┘
∙ UltraHeaders is mainly noticed for its speed in processing. It
can process 15 Gigabytes in under 5 seconds.
∙ Super protection system to ensure you get a 100% non-tampered,
and original copy.
∙ Auto-detection of conferences. No need to enter information
for conferences.
∙ Quick and simple installation and configuration. Install and
begin using in under 10 minutes regardless of the amount of
conferences you have.
∙ Allows unlimited number of total bytes. Optimized for bigger
systems with large file storage space. (ie - CD-ROM)
∙ Allows unlimited number of total files. Optimized for bigger
systems with large file storage space. (ie - CD-ROM)
∙ Allows unlimited number of total directories. Optimized for
bigger systems with large file storage space. (ie - CD-ROM)
∙ Creates headers for your file listings which show important
directory information.
∙ Creates a graphical directory listing which summerizes the file
area information for each conference.
∙ Keeps all directory listings on one screen that does not scroll
down multiple pages.
∙ Creates a monochrome directory listing for users who do not
have the ability to view color or ANSI.
∙ Allows you to colorize the "Uploaded by:" line, which is not
internally possible with PCBoard.
∙ Makes your file listings look neater by removing garbage lines
and information.
∙ Allows you to remove or insert lines between files to give your
file listings a more appealing look without causing confusion
with PCBoard's internal "Insert a line after Uploaded by:"
option.
∙ "No-program-information-output" mode. This makes UltraHeaders
hide its information to make outputs look like they are not
created by UltraHeaders, but by you.
∙ The most support a program can get! I will not abandon support
for this program. There will be continuous upgrades according
to what you and others want, and they will be regular.

┌───────────────────┐
│ 4. Requirements │
└───────────────────┘
UltraHeaders requires the following:
IBM PC/XT/AT, PS/2 or 100% compatible machine.
At least 256K of memory.
MS-DOS or PC-DOS v3.1 or later.
PCBoard v14.x/v15.1/v15.1b.
UltraHeaders does support multinode systems by using the program
SHARE.EXE which should be included with your operating system.
UltraHeaders v1.9 - 05 - Reference Manual
┌───────────────────┐
│ 5. Registration │
└───────────────────┘
Upon registering UltraHeaders, you will recieve a serial number and a
registration keycode that will allow you to have full control over
how the program looks and acts. It will show registration messages
under your name and you will have the choice to remove all references
to the name and program information to make it seem like it is just
like your own creation. The serial number and registration keycode
will work on all future versions and there will be no need to pay for
UltraHeaders ever again.
There are two choices you may take in registering UltraHeaders. You
can get a minimal registration or full registration. Minimal reg-
istration includes only the serial number and registration keycode
which will be sent to you by US Mail and costs you only $15 US. Full
registration includes the serial number, registration keycode, a disk
(with your choice of format) containing the latest copy of UltraHead-
ers, a printed manual, and costs you $25 US. Both registration types
include shipping and handling so they are both flat rates. Payment
is available with check or money order only!
To print the registration form, at your DOS prompt simply type:
TYPE REGISTER.FRM > PRN
Then completly fill out the registration form and send it to the
address listed at the top of this documentation. As a bonus for reg-
istering you will recieve a coupon for $5.00 off the registration of
any future programs made by us.
Upon request and a small fee, I will also provide you with a
"customized" copy of UltraHeaders with special additions or changes
that you want to have on your system.
UltraHeaders v1.9 - 06 - Reference Manual
┌──────────────────────────────┐
│ 6. License, and Disclaimer │
└──────────────────────────────┘
License: UltraHeaders should be used for no more
than 30 days and should then be either
registered or stopped being used.
Disclaimer: In no event will I be responsible for
any damages that arise from the use of
UltraHeaders. I have tried to protect
modification and infection of each and
every file that I distribute in order
to prevent damages.
UltraHeaders v1.9 - 07 - Reference Manual
┌───────────────────┐
│ 7. Installation │
└───────────────────┘
Make a directory on your hard drive, preferrably C:\PCB\ULTRAHED.
Copy all the files that are included with UltraHeaders into this
directory.
To begin installation, run SETUP.EXE. You will be ready to initiate
UltraHeaders for the first time. Enter your system's name, then your
system operator's name, serial number (ENTER if none), registration
keycode (ENTER if none), and finally the path to your CNAMES.@@@ file
which is usually located in C:\PCB\MAIN. After entering all the data
a main configuration file (ULTRAHED.CNF) is created. This data file
holds the system's information and is accessed each time UltraHeaders
is called, regardless of the conference.
UltraHeaders v1.9 - 08 - Reference Manual
┌────────────────────┐
│ 8. Configuration │
└────────────────────┘
To configure UltraHeaders for a specific conference, you must run the
SETUP.EXE program once again. This time you will not be asked any
questions about your main system configuration. You will see a menu
of all the conferences you have on your system; they will be auto-
detected. Simply pick the conference you want to configure and then
enter what is requested.

and it will create a filename according to the conference number.
* NOTE: There is no need to make a configuration file for each
conference if they have the same exact file directories. Only create
multiple configurations if you have different files in specific
conferences.

┌───────────────────────────┐
│ 9. Running UltraHeaders │
└───────────────────────────┘
After you have created a configuration file for your conferences, you
will be ready to run UltraHeaders. All you must do to begin process-
ing is enter the following at your DOS prompt, or add it to a batch
file:
ULTRAHED <ConferenceConfigFile>
For example, if you simply hit ENTER to save the Main Board config-
uration file, you would type:
ULTRAHED 0.CNF
You must do this for each conference you create a configuration file
for. As mentioned before there is no need to create multiple config-
uration files if more than one conference has the same exact file
directories. Processing should be *very* quick as UltraHeaders was
optimized to save time.

possible since UltraHeaders processes conferences in seconds.

Special thanks: Greg Cook, Samuel H. Smith, Joseph Sheppard,
and Jeremy Lilley.
UltraHeaders was created with Turbo Pascal v7.0 and Turbo Assembler,
both by Borland International.
UltraHeaders works on almost any environment including DOS, Windows,
OS/2, DESQview.
When UltraHeaders detects 386 and 486 machines, it takes advantage
of their high speeds.
